Dwebble Dwebble is the pre-evolution of Crustle and it shares many traits with it. One of those is it's amazingly useful ability, Sturdy, which means that Dwebble cannot be knocked out in one hit except by multi-hit attacks or mold breaker Pokemon. Dwebble also has Stealth Rock, Spikes, Shell Smash, among other useful attacks. Rock / Bug isnt the best typing, but it can be useful. 16 speed with a positive nature is very useful as it outpaces a large portion of the non-scarfed metagame. With the recent unbanning of Berry Juice, Dwebble takes even greater advantage of Sturdy to take on a much more threatening role as both a supportive and offensive Pokemon. Hazards Dwebble (F) @ Berry Juice Trait: Sturdy EVs: 236 Atk / 236 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Knock Off - Rock Blast - Spikes - Stealth Rock Dwebble has the ability to set up Stealth Rock and Spikes along with traits that allow it to function very well as a hazard supporter. Sturdy guarantees that Dwebble will not fall to any single attack barring multi-hit moves which are few and far between. Dwebble is comparatively fast to several Pokemon in Little Cup, so it is not rare for Dwebble to get two or three hazards up. Rock Blast is the STAB move you generally want to have on supportive Dwebble because it gives you a decent chance to defeat opposing Dwebble leads as well as breaking subs and giving you a decent damage output. Knock Off is useful for removing an item from the opposing Pokemon and providing an easier way to defeat Ghosts and Psychics, especially Misdeavus. Berry Juice will bring Dwebble to full health when brought down to Sturdy, or if Dwebble's health drops to below 50%. Shell Smash Dwebble (F) @ Berry Juice Trait: Sturdy EVs: 236 Atk / 236 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Shell Smash - X-Scissor - Earthquake / Knock Off - Rock Blast / Stone Edge Due to Dwebble's ability Sturdy, Shell Smash is a useful set on it. If hazards aren't up then when Dwebble comes in it takes no damage and it can then setup a Shell Smash and attempt to sweep. Rock Blast and Stone Edge are both useful, Stone Edge tends to be for reliable though due to set power, but Rock Blast breaks substitutes and if it hits 5 times then it will hit harder than Stone Edge. Knock Off and Earthquake are both useful, X-Scissor covers Grass types better and is STAB boosted, but Earthquake covers some poison types and steel types such as Croagunk and Magnemite that otherwise would give you big problems. Knock Off is useful for taking down bulkier Ghosts and Psychics such as Misdreavus, Honedge or Slowpoke, as well as crippling the opposing Pokemon by removing their item. Other Options There aren't many options for Dwebble, yet there are some minor alterations of the sets given in order to help against certain Pokemon. Counter is usable on the Hazards set to return damage back from Physical Attackers that are somewhat common as leads such as Mienfoo and Timburr. Poison Jab is usable to defeat fairies. Hone Claws is usable if you fear missing Stone Edge, or the Defense drop that Shell Smash makes to occur, but Shell Smash is still much better. Eviolite is usable on the hazard lead set by Berry Juice is generally preferred. Aerial Ace is usable to deal with Fighting types. Flail is a gimmicky option on the Shell Smash set which can deal insane damage. Checks and Counters A lot of times, the hazards that Dwebble lays can be more threatening than Dwebble itself, so be sure to have a Spinner or Defogger to get rid of the hazards after Dwebble is gone. Timburr, Porygon, and Foongus are all generally good at tanking hits that Dwebble gives and retaliating with hard hits or status, rendering Dwebble useless. Scarf Mold Breaker Cranidos can ignore Sturdy due to Mold Breaker in order to OHKO with Head Smash. Meditite and Mienfoo can Fake Out to break Dwebble's Sturdy and then OHKO with a powerful attack. Croagunk is a fairly safe check due to having an assortment of priority to defeat Dwebble with as well as taking most of its moves fairly well. Corphish can function as a shaky counter because it takes very little damage from anything except for a X-Scissor or Stone Edge/Rock Blast from the Shell Smash Set after it is boosted and can 2HKO with a Crabhammer then an Aqua Jet. Staryu and Drilbur can threaten Dwebble while having the ability to spin it's hazards away.
Try slashing Oran and Custap on Lead set? Custap is really helpful for putting an extra layer and Oran lets it survive more and setup later. Custap isnt released yet :(. Also maybe mention that Knock Off especially helps it to beat Misdreavus 1v1 in Lead set (Some Missys run Taunt)
-Poison Jab should be there in OO as a move to deal with Fairies (even though it's gimmicky and Stone Edge does more damage). -Hone Claws should be in OO and you should mention that it's outclassed by Shell Smash. -Meditite and Scarf Mold Breaker Cranidos should be mentioned in Checks and Counters. -Counter might be slashed with Knock Off in the hazards set or you can mention it in OO. -Imo, the Shell Smash set should be this: Spoiler - Shell Smash - X-Scissor - Knock Off / Earthquake - Rock Blast / Stone Edge[/HIDE] Earthquake is only coverage and it only deals with Pawniard, X-Scissor is an important STAB move. Also in Checks and Counters please fix the Foongus*
This is a pretty good analysis so far. Checks and counters needs Mienfoo. Mienfoo can tank boosted hits and hit back hard with Drain Punch or HJK. It can also break the sturdy with Fake Out and finish with Drain Punch or HJK. Cprphish can be seen as a check too. It lives all of Dwebble's boosted attacks bar a 4 or more hit Rock Blast or Stone Edge and can OHKO with strong priority in Aqua Jet. Mention Eviolite in OO for the Hazzard lead. Eviolite gives Dwebble some surprisingly good bulk and can definitely be used. It lasts roughly the same amount of time with Eviolite as it does with Oran Berry in most cases.
Berry Juice got unbanned so put that instead of Oran Berry I think. It's under suspect atm, maybe add it then if it's banned again remove it and put Oran Berry again.
Mention Drilbur and Staryu in Checks and Counter as they can spin and threaten Dwebble with STABs. The former can even survive a +2 X-scissor 93.7% of the time, and OHKO with Earthquake. Pawniard should be added in C/C as it checks variants without EQ. Corphish is a bit of a shaky check to Shell Smash Dwebble since Dwebble needs to be under 100% HP, otherwise Corphish just activates Berry Juice. Eviolite version of Corphish can only tank 3 Rock Blast before dying. That's it tbh, good job on this. 196+ Atk Adaptability Corphish Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dwebble: 16-20 (76.1 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO +2 236+ Atk Dwebble Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 76 Def Eviolite Corphish: 18-21 (90 - 105%) -- approx. 6.3% chance to OHKO
After some further consideration, I'm going to ask you to expand your sections a little bit. Dwebble is one of the strongest mon's in the tier and as such should have a little more detail than many others. Your introduction fails to elaborate on what Dwebble does in LC. Your checks and counters section is a little plain. I would expand some of the descriptions to explain how those checks can check Dwebble. That sections is mostly fine. I would reccommend expanding parts like "Staryu and Drilbur can threaten Dwebble while having the ability to spin it's hazards away." to a statement more similar to "Corphish can function as a shaky counter since it takes very little damage from anything except for a X-Scissor or from the Shell Smash Set after it is boosted and can 2HKO with a Crabhammer then an Aqua Jet." That statement has awkward wording that I would fix as well. Please expand this section a bit. Keep note of this: Swirlix is currently test banned, and whilst it does look like it will remain banned, keep your mention of Swirlix on hand. I would say adding this to the bottom of the analysis in hide tags would work for now. You only mention Knock Off once and you fail to describe what it does. Knock Off is a great move on Dwebble and should have an explanation as to why to use it. Honedge is beaten by both Earthquake and Knock Off so you should mention that. As a whole this section lacks sufficient explanation on when and where to use what. This statement is completely incorrect. Both Dwebble see similar use so I would remove this. I would rather you not refer to this Dwebble as a lead so much as it is very useful in many situations. I would rename it to Hazard Setter and not refer to it constantly as a lead. That is a bit misleading into what this Dwebble can do. I would go into more detail on its usefulness as a Knock Off user and its ability to beat Abra. Sorry for misleading you earlier. This analysis still has a ways to go before it is complete.
236+ Atk Dwebble X-Scissor vs. 228 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Lileep: 14-18 (53.8 - 69.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 14, 18) Lileep isn't a check to the SS set since an ancient power doesnt even knock it down to sturdy and giga drain aint gonna do shit. Thus, lileep really shouldn't be in C+C. Croagunk deserves a mention in cc since generally dwebbles tend to gear toward knock off rather than EQ. Its also got fake out, vacuum wave and sucker punch to get rid of dwebble when sturdys been broken. As far as options and such go i'd say this is done. I'd attempt a GP kinda thing but my grammar is terrible :v
In OO: -Mention Aerial Ace and how it deals with Fighting Pokémon that resist Dwebble's both STAB attacks. -Mention how Flail is a usable move with that does an insane amount of damage when Dwebble hits 1 HP in the Shell Smash set, but also say that it's gimmicky.
