Before anything, I should begin this thread with a quote that can be found on this thread: So yeah, I should go die in hell. I just made a theme that uses up to dummy56 (which, as a consequence, throws 4470 errors on the theme checker). Code: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10065307/Mafia/Names.js This theme is quite simple. Think about it as a mix of Vepix, Hangman and Empire. Each player is on its own side and is asigned a alias. Then every night, each players can use any command from /a, /b, [...] to /z on someone else to find if that person's alias has that letter or not. When someone thinks they know that person's name, they can type /[role] [name] on that person to kill them (for example, if you think the player RiceKirby has the alias "John", you can type '/john RiceKirby' to kill them). If you use the wrong command, your action will simply fail. You cannot guess a letter and try to kill someone on the same night. If anyone is lynched, that person will survive, but one of the vowels on their name will be publicly revealed. Anyway, as you can expect, this is not a theme to be taken seriously (at least not as a Mafia), but I coded it to showcase a new role idea I had: The Name Inspector. Can you imagine some themes using an inspector that can identify only part of their target's name? For example, what if default's Inspector, instead of having the standard inspection, could only /a, /e, /i, /o or /u? Well, /u would be 99.9% useless, but you get the idea. So, what I want with this thread is: Discussion about the 'Name Inspector' role Opinions if this theme would pass QC and get accepted by players More stupid (or not) ideas that could fit this kind of theme Potatoes (Not necessarily on this order)
Potatoes are a tuber and have no place in a theme about Fruit. Wait, wrong thread. This looks very interesting, to say the least. I'd be willing to give it a chance, sounds like it could be fun. Duration of the game would be my only concern, can't tell how long it would take for a normal game. Also, there's no penalty for wrong guesses, could just prompt rand acting trying to get something to stick.
Standby is a bit shorter than nornal, and I could also set Vote Sniping so Voting phases won't take long. As for blindly guesses, each player has 56 commands coded, but can only use 1 per turn. If they keep trying to guess the name, they will get behind information-wise.
This definitely cannot be a peak theme. The last thing we need is something like School going on in mafia. Edit: Although I like this concept, I never thought commands supported characters other than letters or numbers. :(
I would like to this theme as Non-Peak and that type of inspector can be used in many different themes.
What would be the sides because it would be obvious that name inspector says insps. Maybe have him be a consp?
I like the concept of it all, just one little thing.. I don't think the word "damn" was ever used in any of the themes on the server. I don't really know if there's something against it or not, but I just thought it was strange? I don't think I've seen anything above a "hell."
lol people would get kicked when mods guess "k" The concept is interesting and would at least be fun to try, but this isn't really mafia at all.
You know... :x @PokeWorldBW: When I tested on my test server, the mafia command had priority over the server command (or at least I think it did, if I tested it right).
It's a nice concept and all, but if this was a peak theme games would just last way too long. Maybe make something like, if you try guessing somebody's name and you get it wrong, a letter in your name is revealed to them instead? Anyways there isn't really much to say other than games would probably drag on to be too long, but I do like the idea. I just wish it was implemented differently.
