They weight a lot... And why aren't they 96x96? :/

If this is ever added it'd be optional.

There are around 2800 sprites. This site has 367 at the moment.

Also, all the 2800 would weigh around 250MB.

I know that for the moment is imposible but maybe you can consider it in a future.

To be honest I wouldn't mind the weigh, animated sprites would be great X3
    even if it's optional

Of course, some people won't mind the weigh, but for many others increasing the size of the download by 1000% does not seem rational, hence why it would be added as a plugin/extension/extra download if it were to be added.

Well it really wouldn't be that big of an issue would it?

We just treat it like a Skin and make it a completely separate download from the client, so we can just replace the sprite folder for B/W in the normal client with the animated sprites.

So if coyotte or someone made the client support animated gif images, it would just be a matter of someone taking the time to replace the sprites in the folder and upload it to mediafire or somewhere.

I don't like it. I mean, I love the way it looks, but my problem is that the behind sprites are still hideously small.

Can't we inflate those a little bit like they would be in the game?

I agree with this wholeheartedly, the proportion of the back sprites in comparison to the front ones look weird.

This is not related to this thread. Anyway. In-Game, the sprites are animated, that's why they look weird on the simulator. Now, if you want something changed, you can rip the sprites yourself, make them whatever size you want, and post them. Until then, there are bigger concerns.

keep in mind that they have to fit in a triples battle window.

As for adding animations, it has been discussed before, and there were always problems with it apart from the size. You could try and do it yourselves to verify - I personally have tried to rip off move animations before when that project was on and we decided to drop it in the end.

Adding animated sprites could be a GREAT ADVANCEMENT to the game. "the first simulator with gif animated pokemons" "it really looks like the nintendo ds battle" (i know that last one are a little polemic)

With animated sprites, the game gains life. It's really nice you see your pokemon or only opponent pokemon "dancing", thats seen that the pokemon have life in the simulator.

But it's could be too heavy. If we got only the FRONT sprites, ignoring back sprites, front and back shiny sprites, with all it done i think the simulator will be so much heavy...
Then we could use a separated paste with all these gifs, and who wants the gifs, download that. I tottaly will download that, not important of weight it will be. If it take 3, 4 hours of download, whatever, it will be good anyway.

But the problems are: how we will make all gifs be in 96x96, if they come in various sizes like 107x90, 86x80, 67x80? Editing all gifs will be a big work. After that, we only need to create this past with all gifs and put that close for the download of client, to people see that and download.

Sorry by my english but i'm a lot of time without use that...

Obviously I'm all thumbs for this idea. Although I heavily suggest like a lot of others that it should be in an additional plug in or something like that. It's not everybody that would like to download a 250 MB file.

The current size of the whole thing is pretty big. How much more data do you think this will need? Certainly a lot. So, new players will have to download a lot of stuff. Or, just like some people suggested, this would be optional. After all, if there were triple battles with big Pokemon sprites, like, Rayquaza, Reshiram, and Zekrom, the frame rate would probably go down, slowing the game and, may slow the user's computer.

How will this be a huge advancement? It's like putting a decal on your car. Now it goes faster. Oh wait, it doesn't.

The sim gets the job done without gif sprites or animations. They're not needed.

You're missing the point. We're basically asking for animated gif support in the client so we can replace the sprites ourselves. It's not really asking for much at all.

Creating a download-able sprite folder replacement would be the responsibility of us users that want them.

Hell, if coyo or someone would edit the client to support it, I'd make the sprite package myself for you all to download.

I have no idea how I let this slip by me for so long.

Anyway, this is a duplicate suggestion of a duplicate suggestion of a duplicate suggestion and so on and so forth.
coyotte has said in a similar topic that if they are included on the simulator, they would be an optional plug-in.

Please, for the love of Arceus, stop posting this suggestion. Locked.
