    Sunshine! (original Ikr)

    Introduction:

Liar here bringing you another RMT. I wanted to post a XY team for a while now but never got around to doing it. Anyways here's the team I've been using since Gen 6 first got implemented on the server, and it's been working out pretty well I'd say. Also it's an original team for a change which is always fun ofcourse. Don't see too many Sun teams in XY OU (any weather at all for that matter). Anyways, let's get into the team.

    The Team:

    Charizard @ Charizardite Y
    Trait: Blaze
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Fire Blast
    - Solar Beam
    - Flame Charge
    - Focus Blast

When you're building a Sun team, the first thing you need is something that sets up Sun. I chose Charizard Y over Ninetales because it has more power and better coverage options. It abuses the Sun it sets up really well. Fire Blast with STAB and in the Sun really hurts. Solar Beam destroys the hopes of any Water-types to beat Mega Charizard. Rotom-W doesn't stand a chance. Focus Blast hits Heatran hard, which is a huge menace to Sun teams, and mine is not an exception sadly. Charizard is a pretty good lure though, Heatran comes in very often and I can do a lot of damage to it. Flame Charge is one of those moves that require a lot of thinking ahead and preparation, but damn it is satisfying to sweep with a +1 speed Charizard Y. It deals with the revenge killing issue pretty well, as Charizard Y resists many priority moves.

    Whimsicott @ Heat Rock
    Trait: Prankster
    EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Sunny Day
    - Taunt
    - Memento
    - Encore

Well, the five turns of Sun from Charizard Y are not really enough. Since the goal of this team (of any Sun team really) is to sweep with Venusaur, you need as many turns as you can get. Whimsicott just kinda fits in perfectly. My Charizard Y is walled hard by Dragon-types, so a Fairy type is just ideal. It gets free switchins on pokes like Garchomp and prevents DD Dragonite from sweeping my team with Encore. I'd probably fit a Fairy-type move over Taunt, but for some reason it doesn't have access to any on PO. Anyway, Prankster Sunny Day with Heat Rock basically means 8 guaranteed turns of Sun, which is enough for my Venusaur to setup and clean up. Memento is a nifty little trick which I will definitely use given the right opportunity. You'll see why as I move on to the next poke.

    Barbaracle @ Life Orb
    Trait: Tough Claws
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Shell Smash
    - Razor Shell
    - Cross Chop
    - Stone Edge

Ahhh Barbaracle. Possibly the most underrated pokemon of gen 6. Now you understand why I have Memento on Whimsicott, as it makes setting up with Barbaracle so much easier. This is also my secondary sweeper incase I think Venusaur won't be able to do the job on it's own. Charizard Y can be a make shift sweeper with Flame Charge but it's unreliable. The set is self-explanatory, Shell Smash is a given, Razor Shell is STAB and gets a Tough Claws boost, same for Cross Chop (which absolutely nails Ferrothorn at +2) and Stone Edge for STAB and coverage. Very solid overall coverage, immense power and enough speed to get the job done. Also worth mentioning that this is the only poke on my team that reliably takes on Talonflame. If you see Talonflame, be sure to keep this alive at all costs.

    Venusaur @ Life Orb
    Trait: Chlorophyll
    EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Growth
    - Giga Drain
    - Hidden Power [Fire]
    - Sludge Bomb

Insert generic Sun sweeper here. Well we all know what Venusaur does, Chlorophyll makes it insanely fast, and Growth doubles its power. From there you sweep with coverage moves. Simple enough right? Heatran walls this set unfortunately, but Scizor is popular as well and worth KO'ing with HP Fire. Same applies to Ferrothorn/Forretress. Even if you run EQ Venusaur, you'll just seemingly run into balloon Heatran over and over. Your best bet is to lure it with Charizard Y and KO it. Hydreigon can do the same as well. Heatran is just the menace of Sun, deal with it~~

    Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
    Trait:
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Draco Meteor
    - Focus Blast
    - Fire Blast
    - U-turn

Needed a revenge killer. Hydreigon just performs well on Sun teams, I can't really put my finger on it why. I think it's the typing and bulk or something. Anyways, Draco Meteor is STAB, it hurts like hell, and the -2 doesn't worry me in the slightest because Whimsicott punishes all setup attempts with Encore. Fire Blast in Sun is just godly. No drawbacks, and it does great damage. Focus Blast is the best coverage move for the final slot, catching Heatrans whenever possible. U-turn is necessary because Fairy-types are omnipresent and you don't want to lose momentum.

    Excadrill @ Life Orb
    Trait: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Rapid Spin
    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide
    - Stealth Rock

Last but not least, Excadrill is my Stealth Rock setter as well as my spinner. I took a more offensive approach because longevity isn't as important. It's typing is not that great defensively either, common weaknesses to Fire, Water, Fighting and what not. This set pretty much wrecks the ever annoying Aegislash with EQ. It also takes on Heatran without Scarf/Balloon, Tyranitar, Rotom-W, Scizor etc. Pretty much the best option for my final teamslot because it completes the Dragon/Steel core and lets me block VoltTurn.

So yeah there's the team, rate, hate, comment, give advice, steal my team, do what you want. Importable:

    (Charizard) (F) @ Charizardite Y
    Trait: Blaze
    EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Fire Blast
    - Solar Beam
    - Flame Charge
    - Focus Blast

    (Whimsicott) (F) @ Heat Rock
    Trait: Prankster
    EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Sunny Day
    - Taunt
    - Memento
    - Encore

    Barbaracle (F) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Tough Claws
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Shell Smash
    - Razor Shell
    - Cross Chop
    - Stone Edge

    (Venusaur) (M) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Chlorophyll
    EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Growth
    - Giga Drain
    - Hidden Power [Fire]
    - Sludge Bomb

    (Hydreigon) (M) @ Choice Scarf
    Trait:
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Draco Meteor
    - Focus Blast
    - Fire Blast
    - U-turn

    (Excadrill) (F) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

    Hey, cool team here!

I like how you've kept the spirit of weather use in OU.

The first suggestion I have is that I don't think Babaracle should be used on a sun team. I suggest switching it with Choice Band Garchomp. It provides a lot of power and wallbreaking capabilities.

Also, I suggest changing Life Orb on your Excadrill to Air Balloon. It can come in on ground attacks and the opponent has to take an extra turn to break it.

Anyways, this is a pretty unique team. Hope I helped and good luck!

    Nice looking team you got,

My only suggestion is to try running U-Turn over Taunt or Memento on Whim as it allows you to grab great momentum after an encore and is helpful for scouting early on in the game.

I was thinking maybe a sub three attacking heatran to replace barbarcle but then blissey/goodra/zapdos/etc.. would become big problems.

Wow 50 viewers and 2 rates, either people are lazy or my team's just that close to perfection. (probably the latter :] ) Thanks to Raducan and Yipy for taking the time to rate this team.

CB Garchomp is an alright physical wallbreaker, but there's not much point in running one if you suggest that I replace my physical sweeper for it :\ Besides, Life Orb Excadrill is actually a pretty decent wallbreaker with EdgeQuake coverage. I'll test it anyway though.

Balloon Excadrill is alright if you worry about Sticky Web, but avoiding EQ isn't going to help regardless against the likes of Landorus-T/Gliscor. Life Orb lets me get a guaranteed OHKO on Bold Rotom-W and just does significantly better damage overall.

U-turn on Whimsicott is legit but usually it's not hard to predict what my opponent will switch out to after an Encore (Talonflame/Heatran anyone?). Then again, Taunt isn't always useful too. I like getting predictions right, U-turn kinda takes the fun out of it. But sure, valid point. Heatran actually doesn't sound bad at all, with Balloon it checks other Heatran very well and it hits really hard in the Sun. But getting screwed by Blissey probably isn't worth it ._. Again I'll test it to see how it works out.

    Keep the rates coming!

    Hey LiarLiar, Great team
I like the Fire/water/grass core . The Memento Whimsicott is genius.

I'm surprised that you didnt give Barbaracle a white herb. It already does a lot of damage with tough claws +2 and its defenses arent that bad. So life orb isnt really needed

    -Overall great original team

I agree on the Babaracle part you can try choice banded Garchomp it's pretty good.
Also on the excadrill part I also agree just not a lot. Air balloon can be pretty useful at some times. Air balloon has saved me sometimes. True life orb helps deal more damage but I would go for balloon.

First Gen 6 sun team I've seen without Ninetails. Interesting. I love the Whimscott mementom will hve to look into that myself! Barnacle is def underrated reminds of cloyster a lot though who people call the cheapest pokemon...what ev with them. Char Y is not better then X but most need for sub team. Maybe u should add mani for your aieglash weakness and defog. Also mani defensive set for talon weakness as well

Thanks for all the rates! To be honest I haven't been using this team much lately lol. Exams you know. I'll look into White Herb and Air Balloon, even though I like the raw power that Life Orb provides. I wish there was a better way to stop Talonflame aside from Barbaracle, but I don't really know what else I could do. As of now if CB Talonflame U-turns on my switch to Barbaracle I'm in big trouble as I then have nothing to take a hit from it. Oh well, can't cover every pokemon I guess ._.

Just wondering if you're running this in double battles or singles? I've found more success with my own team in doubles, but I'm relatively new to competitive battling. I really would prefer to do singles but only having access to three of my pokemon seems crippling when I have a pretty standard base of Charizard+Venusaur.

I use this team for singles. Otherwise I'd probably have Protect on every pokemon.

I'm not very good at this whole team rating thing, so correct me if I am wrong.

Your team is kinda weak to Scarf Heatran.

Earth Power for Barb, Overheat/Fire Blast/Flamethrower for Venusaur, Hidden Power Ice for Hydreigon(Though Hydreigon is faster, it may be locked into an unsatisfactory move.

Also, you say Rotom-W doesn't stand a chance against Mega Charizard Y, but it doesn't get any faster when it mega evolves(It's base speed is 100), and Choice Scarf Rotom outspeeds, and OHKO's Charizard Y(When Sun ISN'T up)
Since the sun may be up, the opponent would wait until the sun goes down by switching Rotom-W in, and spamming volt switch to weaken Charizard Y,

When Sun ISN'T up, they would do this:
    252+ SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 302-356 (101.6 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

When Sun IS up, they would do this:
    252+ SpA Rotom-W Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 192-228 (64.6 - 76.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

They could use Volt Switch, switch to another pokemon, such as Genesect to absorb a Solar Beam, and finish you off with a Thunderbolt.
Even though Genesect would get an Attack boost, not a Special Attack boost, since Mega Charizard Y's Defense isn't higher than special defense, it can still finish off the Charizard.

    252+ SpA Genesect Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 180-214 (60.4 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It says that it's a guaranteed TWO Hit KO, but remember that the Charizard has on average about 64% of health left, so, if I did the calculations correctly, that is a 92.2% chance of KO'ing Charizard.

On Barbaracle, you should have Earthquake instead of Razor Shell, since Razor Shell is weakened in the Sun, though in my opinion, you shouldn't use Barbarable at all. You should have Offensive Heatran, since it can deal with Talonflame, and it pretty strong in the sun.

    Heatran (M) @ Life Orb/Air Balloon/Leftovers
    Trait: Flash Fire
    EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Fire Blast
    - Earth Power
    - Hidden Power [Grass]
    - Stealth Rock
The Item is really your preference, though I recommend Life Orb.

Overall, it's a pretty good team though.

Tbh my team is weak to any kind of Heatran. If it turns out to be the uncommon Scarf set I can play around it. It needs to predict perfectly to hit Hydreigon with Dragon Pulse, and even then I can still get a Focus Blast of. If it kills any of my pokes with a Fire move then Barbaracle gets a free Shell Smash. Earth Power means MegaZard Y can come in and click any move to destroy the switch in. This team is very offensive so it's honestly not anymore threatening than other Heatran sets (still a big threat regardless). I like Offensive Heatran, but not on this team because it's so overlapping with MegaZard Y. Also, if I'd make that change Chansey would literally 6-0 me with Seismic Toss.

    Thanks for the rate though.

Like it. Don't know how much you use Rock Slide on Excadrill but I found Iron Head to be much better as it could OHKO stuff like Sylveon and Florges which give your predominantly Specially attacking team problems if Barbaracle goes down. Speaking of Barbaracle, it's an odd choice on a sun team (like the idiots who run Rotom-W then complain when Hydro Pump gets reduced damaged) but hey, Rock/Fighting is great coverage anyway. Does he not get Waterfall?

I know you said you use Venusaur for the main sweep but like you said about Heatran problems the set below might be worth considering. While it's not immediately as powerful its coverage is excellent and gets notable KO's on important stuff like Dragon/Flying types (which wall Zard completely), especially Dragonite, Heatran, Gliscor, all the other Weather inducers bar Abomasnow and more. I don't know how much you'd consider changing the role but this set is well worth using, I used it last gen (Does not always require infinite sun) as it can sweep and take out targets.

Sprout (Venusaur) (M) @ Life Orb
    Trait: Chlorophyll
    EVs: 252 Atk / 80 SAtk / 176 Spd
    Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
    - Growth
    - Seed Bomb
    - Earthquake
    - Hidden Power [Ice]

Stats start in the mid 200s but its a scary prospect facing a mixed sweeper with >500 in all 3 offensive stats after a Growth in sun. Wipes the floor with dedicated special walls (I'm looking at you Blissey) which the other set has trouble with, and can beat Heatran with Earthquake. Make sure you drop the Atk and Def IV's to ensure you outspeed Scarfed Latios (which is the tier I assume you used earlier).

Finally it might be worth a shout using a scarfed Thundurus-T instead of Hydreigon. He still hits very hard, excellent primary STAB, can Volt Switch and is immune to Electric moves aimed at Zard and Barbaracle. He can also take Talonflame's Brave Bird in an emergency if needed. I see SD chomp could basically take your whole team out bar Hydreigon (check only) if given the chance, so retaining this and also going the extra speed above MoxieMence might really help out

    Thundurus-T (M) @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Volt Absorb
    EVs: 8 HP / 248 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Thunderbolt
    - Volt Switch
    - Hidden Power [Ice]
    - Focus Blast

Make sure you drop the Atk and Def IV's by one rather than the Spd one so he ties with other Thundurus-T and Landorus holding Scarf. Foul Play is an interesting option for insurance against Yache Chomp too and hits any Physical set-up sweeper hard but is very gimmicky and will often be useless so generally stick to the given set unless you can forgo one of the Electric moves.

I want to test out Sunlight so I've stolen the team, made the changes I mentioned just now - Mixed Venusaur, Thundurus-T, Iron Head>Rock Slide on Drill and White Herb>Life Orb on Barbaracle which I'll test both out.

Hey thanks for the rate. Fairies are not that troubling honestly, Venusaur deals with them really nicely and MegaZard Y can 2HKO them after SR. Excadrill also 2HKO's with EQ so I like Rock Slide better because Talonflame tend to come in sometimes too.

Barbaracle seems odd on a Sun team, but it lets me check Talonflame which is crucial and it benefits from my teams ability to handle pokes like Aegislash, Breloom, Conkeldurr and Scizor with MegaZard Y and Venusaur. It sweeps teams with ease if you play it right.

Your Mega Venusaur set looks interesting, 2HKO'ing Blissey is nice but then you struggle against other Mega Charizard Ys badly (which can easily sweep me if I'm not careful). Dragon/Flying types like Dragonite lose to +2 Sludge Bomb either way after SR, while +2 HP Ice doesn't kill through Multiscale with your spread... Latios doesn't get OHKO'd either by +2 HP Ice which +2 Sludge Bomb with my spread does... I don't know.

Thundurus-T doesn't really benefit this team much, another SR weakness and gets blocked by Mamoswine easily if you don't predict it right... Hydreigon resists Electric anyways, it's a fine switchin to Rotom-W and Excadrill blocks VoltTurn too... Hydreigon also benefits from sun with +1 Fire Blasts while Thundurus-T is just ehh. Garchomp isn't a threat as long as Whimsicott stays alive to Encore it into SD and block CB Outrages. When they're setup, even Venusaur and Barbaracle don't care about Chomp...

Anyways thanks for the rate, I'll look into testing if I have time later.

Nice shouts on all of them. I've tested the team a little and see what you mean although like I said I made the changes. Venusaur was one I used in 5th gen anyway, I did quite well with it earlier but Thundurus definitely didn't work so well in practice. Mainly Focus Blast missing all the time, I never use it but I know a lot of people do. Either way I'd leave Hydreigon as it is if it works for you, although I'll say now I'm not the greatest fan of his speed tier, which was part of my reason for replacement. Try the Venusaur set out though, often people just expect the Special sweeper and get annihilated, or save the wrong pokemon. Keep Rocks up and it takes out a few good targets, but ultimately it's down to preference. You'll always find yourself walled by something when using Venusaur due to shite coverage and a pretty dodgy version of Ground/Rock is the best he gets out of actually decent moves.

I have never witnessed a sun team such as this, have never seen a water type on a sun team and but I know it may counter other fire types + ground. I just may steal this :]]]
