NOW CALLED DINOS FINALLY CUTE AF THEME HOW COULD YOU DECLINE THIS And we're one of the second place themes, so yeah, time to post this up for review. This is the theme made by the Veritable Villagers (Beast, Joeypals, Hades, ajhockeystar, and me) CODE Basically, most of the village starts off as Eggs and there's an 80-10-10 ratio (roughly) of where the eggs go (village-carnivores-omnivores). Most of the eggs will turn into Pterodactyls, which is a generic villager (with little hax) I made so that the village doesn't get a bunch of PRs. Ankylosaurus is the bulletproof. Connects village, and the -1 is a negative vote for one of our conditions. Apatosaurus is the inspector that also gets to day inspect (again, a condition), and this leads for lots of village info power. Parasaurolophus is the basic distracter. Triceratops is a BG. If any eggs hatch into Triceras, they'll share the BG. Stegosaurus is a vengeful villager (another condition). Put in a Supersaurus for a vigilante so village has a way of defeating Loch Ness monster. T-Rex is the head of the carnivores, basic mafia with a second kill for more fire power. Velociraptor is his lackey. Spinosaurus is a mafia PL that sometimes kills its target - pretty useful. Megalosaurus is a rare role that pops up only from eggs, and can daykill without being exposed - so it can kill all the village PRs outed trying to connect. Oviraptor gets to know half the Eggs (the condition was that a mafia role gets reveal on a village-sided role) but apparently doesn't know his team. (might as well just get rid of that, omnivores are underpowered as is.) Vote of 3 is good in end game scenarios. Troodon is a mafia inspector, and just to buff the omnivores I let it have a Kefka-speed kill. That way village doesn't get to connect as easily (although Ankylo can still claim, might give someone a poison on the main mafia teams). Ornithomimus is the omnivores' BG. Pretty simple tbh, but if there's a poisoner he'd probably be it. Then we have some fun roles. Meteor is a Sephiroth role that gets stronger as the game goes on, but he will probably exposed if he daykills as the game goes on, so he's just there to destroy as much as possible. Ice Age is the partner (lol) that poisons and protects the meteor, cause ice kills slowly and it's supposed to endure. And when the meteor is gone the Ice Age comes more potently! Last off, Nessie! Kuja and one-time kill/poison to help it get rid of threats faster. Post here with any suggestions/comments/concerns. #veritablevillagers

2 Balance complaints: -Once all teammates die, Spinosaurus can't do anything other than hope it will get a lucky 10% hit to kill an opponent. -Ankylosaurus definitely needs a nerf, even if only on the hatch chance. Mafia sides are quite small, and there are only a few poison/daykills in the theme, so if you are the last member of your team and an Ankylosaurus is still alive, it's pretty much gg. If there are 2 Ankylosaurus then, it's ggwp.
What we could eventually do (depends on if Wind is OK with it) is make Spinosaurus's distract/kill ratio 50-50. As for Ankylosaurus, we can definitely turn down the hatch rate on him, easy. Like I said, I'll run this stuff by Windblown for you.
What does ggwp even mean? Either way, I like the flavour for this theme in particular -- I'll admit it surpasses that of the theme my group has worked on. Balance seems like a really bad problem, though. I still propose you add Fossil Pokemon to the theme ;)
good game well played. I reduced Ankylo's percent of hatching to about 1% and made a Spinosaurus that can kill upon the death of either T-Rex or Velociraptor.
I don't think Supersaurus and Loch Ness Monster really have anything to add to the theme. One of the things that made this theme so unique and beautiful was the fact that there was no village killer, and a Kuja just doesn't seem to fit in this theme. The meteor is a dumb dinosaur :biggrin: but there's not much that can be changed about that. If I were you I would definitely remove Supersaurus and either remove or change Loch.
The Supersaurus is designed to counter the Loch Ness Monster, which is important because it's a mafia role that can counter the village's ability to connect very quickly due to multiple PRs hatching out of the eggs. If you don't have a village vigilante then if there's a Kuja voter village is basically screwed.
Which is exactly why I suggest removing the Kuja voter. I don't like the village having a kill, as to me the 'peaceful herbivores' makes up at least half of the flavor of this theme. Adding a role that detracts from the game just to have one that might add a little to the game (imo) seems unnecessary.

Okay, I'm happy about the Dino>Dinos change. Balance in general is good. I voted this theme for TCC for a reason, as it's very easy to pick up and stuff. This is basically a generic village vs Mafia with very cool roles and eggs which shake up a lot due to the luck factor. Not saying it's bad, but it's fun to see every game having a twist and a turn because of the ways the eggs hatch. The flavor is good, our Mafia friends miss it already, and thus I will give you approve [1]
Time to go. Villagers capable of becoming mafias. This alone breaks a lot of the theme because of the possibility to have large mafia teams with smaller sized village. I think all inspects are after converts. The second egg seems to be even more slanted towards the mafia convert (because of less village chances.) Basic hax, bodyguard, Double inspector, pl, Bulletproof - Add a +[Game] thingy to that message so it isn't loose. vengeful townie, vigi. 7 roles?? Seems like a lot of the same things in village. Multiples add up and isn't a good thing. Carnivores look okay action-wise. Meteor looks nice. Ice age, eh. icedummy isn't hidden correctly. Overall, the helps are meh but that's just opinion. "You have obviously just hatched from your egg since it is the only way to get this role." for Megalosaurus. "I mean come on, pictures of you make you look like an egg. " in Loch Ness. The bulk of the theme is the eggs, which can convert randomly to other sides. Too much chance being put in the main bulk of the theme. I'd Decline [1] outright (and will), but I also have a solution in terms of fixing the random. For each egg, limit the evolution to a specific grouping. You could also add more dinosaurs in this manner. For example, basic "egg" would be a village dino while "egg2" has 100% mafia dino, "egg3", could have stronger dinos and "egg4" can be a dud which doesn't convert in the end. Trying to make each role into a PR isn't a good thing. "Give everyone guns, pew pew pew" isn't how mafia should pan out. Getting 3 inspectors, 3 PLs, and any combination of other things doesn't really spell balance for me. Nor does getting 6 troodons or what have you.
Note has been made and I shall make edits later since I currently have the coding. EDIT: Since Windblown won't post the adjustments I made, I'll do it! Taking Roild's suggestion, I made four Eggs. They are spread out like so. egg will hatch into either a Triceratops (2%), Apatosaurus (2%), Anyklosaurus (2%), Parasaurolophus (2%), Stegosaurus (2%), or a Pterodactyl (90%). Overall, this egg has a 12% chance of spawning. egg2 is a counter-part to egg. It can hatch into either a Tyrannosaurus Rex (16%), Velociraptor (16%), Spinosaurus (16%), Megalosaurus (2%), Oviraptor (17%), Troodon (17%), or an Ornithomimus (16%). Just like egg, egg2 has a 12% chance of spawning. egg3 contains all the best dinosaurus for each side. From it, you can get a Tyrannosaurus Rex (16%), Megalosaurus (17%), Oviraptor (17%), Troodon (16%), Apatosaurus (17%), or a Supersaurus (17%). To accommodate for the game-changing power this egg could unleash, it only spawns 6% of the time. egg4, in my opinion, is the funniest egg. With a 70% chance of spawning, it simply hatches into... nothing! It's just a villager egg, even though the coding says it can hatch into a meteor3. Thank goodness for failChance though, right? Anyway, that's the edits I made and I feel that overall, while this still keeps the fun insanity aspect, it also controls it so it's not out of hand and thus adds more balance to the theme.
I miss Dinos. And Animals. And even School and Earthbound. I actually quit Mafia because there aren't enough themes and it got boring. I know all this nonsense about blah blah blah better a few great themes than lots of good themes, but I want variety! I'll come back when there are better themes, and I'll still be dreaming up an idea for a theme of my own. And just an idea, but why not have all the TCC themes in testing enabled on the server until a definitive decision is reached?
While that'd be nice, if you haven't heard, QC is going under reconstruction, thus everything theme-wise. It would be nice to see though, we all accepted the themes, even Earthbound which came late.
There are 45 distinct themes on the server, I'm sure that's plenty of variety. Perhaps it's always because you see the same themes being played, and in that case then it's up to the people who want variety to stop starting the same old themes that you can see on /topthemes. The thing with the TCC themes is that they were already played to an above-average extent during theme testing period (during 2nd week of November, after the themes were disabled, they were still around 4-8th most played). QC should have already formed an opinion on all of them. This QC inactivity probably ties in with the reforms that Fuzzy said he's going to implement, however, so that might be an explanation. By the way Dinos already has two accepts and I can't review this cause I'm an author (although I guess you could consider one of the pre-determined accepts mine!)
I don't mean there are too few themes, I meant there are too few which I enjoy. It sounds selfish of me, and it is, but it's a fact. And no matter how selfish of me it is, it doesn't change the fact that I'm gone, like it or not. It's not out of spite, before someone criticizes me for being a baby or whatever and trying to 'force' more themes to be accepted, or me being petty, or however someone may misinterpret this, simply because I have better things to do than partially enjoy Mafia.
Ok guys because soon there will be the reform and so i will be unable to give a judgement i will try to give a judgement the sooner i can on this theme. Anyway if you like themes with some particular gameplay and mechanics Rainbow Crash, i suggest you to try IceKirby's Rotom theme that after so much time has returned on server. Yeah you are right Joeypal, this offtopic has endured too much sorry. Anyway here my review: The solution for the eggs is good and so it limits to random empower too much one of the sides, it would be interesting to see even the other sides to be able to receive a role only possible to appear with eggs like for Megalosaur. As Icekirby said the main problem is Ankylosaur that appear with 11 players for sure but that hasn't a real counter until 16 players games when appears Meteor, so if another egg hatch another ankylosaur on 11-15 players, the herbivores will have a too high chance to win. A possible solution would be that to change Tyrannosaur's second kill with a poison instead and maybe give at triceratops a safeguard if you guys fear that giving to T-rex a poison could menace the balance (personally i don't think that the safeguard will be needed because T-rex poison would be once per game only). About the fact that omnivores are too weak from what Windblown said maybe you could make Oviraptor a little similar to sushi chef (not identical), what i have in mind is that Oviraptor already know some egg types, so i was thinking that him could be able to convert them as "bad eggs" a role that when try to hatch has 25% chances to die, 25% to became a member of Oviraptor team (i don't know if suggest an already existing omnivore or a role similar to sashimi on the Ocean theme with a 0 vote and a chance to hax teammates unknown for Oviraptor sake so to make it easy to connect with them) and a 50% to fail to hatch. Personally as it is now the Ankylosaur is a problem and i wouldn't accept it until you solve it, but i have no much time until Fuzzy's reform and i know that at least 3 of your team are serius mafia player and coders so i trust you to be able to solve before to receive your last approve. So here on the trust your Approve [2]/[4]( i don't know if the contest 2 extra approves are still there) , but please solve this Ankylosaur problem before to install again the theme on server.
Well, I mean is that this way, the T-Rex can /chomp the Ankylo early in the game, bypassing its evade and cutting off flow for the village massively. After all, Ankylo's immune to pure kills, not poison.

It's OK lol. Anywho, I just made the edits of adding an egg5, which has a 25% chance of committing suicide, a 50% chance of failing to hatch, and a 25% chance of hatching into an Omnivore (50% Oviraptor and 50% Troodon). This convert command was given to the Ornithomimus so the Omnivores aren't as OP as if I were to, say, give it to the Oviraptor. T-Rex's /chomp now pierce-kills, still retaining the once per game quality but works like a poison so that way Ankylosaurus can go down and thus nerf the village a little. EDIT: Just thought about a bit more and I was thinking of maybe giving it 3 charges a game. Should I?
I had proposed oviraptor because he already knows some of the eggs as sushi chef knows some roles that he could convert to sashimi, anyway maybe your way could have some interesting point of favour, because there will be a more high team strategy when ornithomimus finds out who is oviraptor and asks him who is an egg that could be converted. Anyway maybe suggest this strategy on ornito and oviraptor help, so that even players new to this theme know it. You could even give to oviraptor an identify convert so to discover ornithomimus when he tries to /spoil him. Anyway now when i am writhing this i half asleep so i could be giving some terrible suggestion, so if you wanna follow them be cautious XP . About giving to T-Rex 3 charge: i don't think it's a good idea for reasons similar to the one about ankylosaur, for exemple if an egg too becames a T-rex, then that team will be able to kill 3 players every night until day3, tryceratops will begin to be a little too useless because for 3 nights he cannot block neither T-rex or Troodon, both troodon and t-rex appear already on 10 players, making so t-rex able to use his second kill so often a carneficine and a deterrent too powerful for a village on games so small. If you wanna empower him with this 3 charges you should depower him at the same time with something else: like a restrict so that he id unable to use both his 2 types of kills the same night or make so that /chomp doesn t kill the target the night it happens but 1 or 2 nights, and in the end surely if you wanna give him 3 charges you should make /chomp shared 100% sure with all the other t-rex, so to limit the damages. Anyway if you don't wanna leave him with only 1 kill and you don't want to to nerf the role some way to rebalance it: you should consider to make 2 tyrannosaur versions, one that has 1 charge for 10-24 players games and another one for 25 or higher games with 3 charges and no nerf. Now, i wanted to say 2 fun facts about this theme flavor-related. Fun fact 1) The pterodaptyl is more a flying reptile then a dinosaur for wikipedia and is carnivore but is sided with herbivores in this theme. Fun fact 2) It has been discovered that the oviraptor actually doesn't ates eggs but that the egg that were thought to be his diet were actually oviraptors egg ( this one and the one about pterodactyl beign a reptile are not really problems because in the imaginary collective they are considered as a dinosaur and an egg eater) Thiis fun facts are simply for knowledge anyway for anyone that didn't knew them, they are not critique, even if i have a question for you guys, why did you have sided pterodactyl with the herbivores if he is carnivore?
I was talking Ornithomimus for the 3 charges lol. Like giving him 3 charges for converts, not the T-Rex having 3 chomps lol. Anywho, the Pterodactyl question would have to go to Windblown, I didn't code him :x.
Ah ok i thougt you meant t-rex because you talked about it right after the discussion of t-rex poison. Anyway Ornithomimus doesn't know who is an egg and for this motive he probably will fail often to convert until he connect with oviraptor, and do not forget that the egg has only 50% chanve to suicide or convert the other 50% of the time he will simply remain an egg. So on my opinion if you wanna still weaken it can i suggest you instead to use a recharge so that he can use it only every 2 nights.
Just to be sure, rememer to add a poison dead message to T-rex so to have a more adapt message when /chomp's target die instead of you died poisoned. And add silent: true and "silentCurse": true to /spoil so that eggs will not notice to be converted when you finish to code the command. P.S. remember that you have to add the newrole command on /spoil otherwise he cannot convert the eggs
Hi Joey sorry if i am annoying but as it is now your /spoil transform all the targets into bad eggs not only the eggs. You should modify your newrole into: "newRole": { "egg5": [ "egg","egg2","egg3", "egg4" ]}, This way only the eggs will be converted.
