I had this interesting idea a few days ago and I decided to try to flesh it out, and if nothing else then to just get the idea circulating. Basically, the premise is that it's a nonpeak theme, and everybody is a Mario Kart racer on their own side. Every night they can type /item to get a random item. This item is either: Banana Peel (distract), Red Shell (kill), Invincibility Star (self-protect). And so then on the next turn each racer can use their item. Or they could hold onto it, but whatever. I thought this sounds like an interesting idea for a nonpeak. Some people might hate on it for being a matter of luck, but that's what mafia is, isn't it? Besides, it still has a very definite element of strategy to it, even though it is luck-based on what item you get and who uses what item on you. Thoughts? Suggestions? Please comment! If enough people show interest, I might design a prototype (it IS possible to convert to a random role from a list of defined roles, right?).
In all honesty, this sounds like a rehashed version of OIC. Umm... besides that it's fine but you need to expand on it, like maybe add more weapons such as the Lightning Bolt or Blue Shell.
Why does it look like a rehashed OIC? I see where you could get that idea, but to me it doesn't. Sure, it kind of uses the reload mechanic, and the everybody is the same role and has no team, but I wouldn't compare the two just for that. And I'd love to add more weapons, but what would they do? Lightning, very rare, distracts everybody, maybe erases their item? Blue shell, hits the person with the highest kill count? How would that work? Maybe it could kill two people? Bob-bomb, if you get hit while holding it you evade kills and kill the attacker? I posted this for brain storming purposes, so suggestions are welcome.
