Just a few more thoughts on Serperior +2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Hidden Power Water vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 406-480 (93.5 - 110.5%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO +2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Hidden Power Water vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Eviolite Rhydon: 400-473 (96.6 - 114.2%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO (Substitute water for Poison obv) HP Poison isnt a completely terrible idea, also it gets Gastro Acid which allows it to beat unaware/sap sippers. The problem is wasting a turn using gastro acid usually results in Serp dying in the process as it cant exactly take a Tbolt from Goodra or an EQ from Bouffalant. It can also run a scarf and just spam LS and it will beat every other scarfer in the tier. The best way I have found to deal with it is priority M-Lop/Medi/Gene/Dnite can all do 50-60% with their priority and if its running LO faster scarfers can usually take it down with a neutral move because of its lack of defenses. I would support a suspect so people could take a closer look at it but im not sure im convinced that its broken yet.
I was thinking about HP Poison when I first started as well, but I didn't really play it enough to gauge how good it is. By the way my calc has checkbox for inverted matchups if you need them :o Seems like people want a suspect at least, so I'll put one up later today.
Hey guys, what do you think of a suspect of Mega Lopuny? It has the fantastic Normal type, an excellent speed, 2 priority in Fake Out and Quick attack, the ability to boost with Power up Punch, healing wish support. Personaly I feel at the moment it's very overcentralizing, and unless you're running Avalugg/Porygon 2 you will have very hard time dealing with it, what's your thought about it?
No exact opinion personally. Not really sure if it's so powerful as to warrant a suspect. Playing against it with an offensive team can be a bitch with Fake Out, but being SR weak means it's easy to put it on a timer. It can't really get around any kind of status either. I haven't really seen anyone use Quick Attack; it just seems too specific to the situation. I guess I can see a standpoint of how it's broken, with how easily it wears at bulky offensive mons until they're no longer checks.
I don't see how it's broken right now, but I can be sure about one thing. It performs much better than Mega Medicham, especially if you are NOT using the Fake Out + Last Resort combo. Hi Jump Kick allows it to break Cresselia. Power Up Punch is pretty useless for me so far though. The set that works the best for me is Fake Out/Quick Attack/Frustration/High Jump Kick. It performs very well at picking off weakened pokes with Fake Out + Quick Attack. It also resist Breloom's Mach Punch, unlike Mega Medicham. Beware of Stealth Rock weakness though.
I understand Mega lop is a huge threat but im if serperior stays then mega lop stays, it has similar power and speed just on the physical side and arguably has more counters that havent been explored. Things like defensive arcanine and physdef Hippo are decent answers to it and Im sure there could be more found if needed not to mention the abundance of scarfers in the tier. 'Being honest the meta feels really stale right now and personally I think it would be a much better one if the top 6 or so pokes were removed. In 2 of the event tours the other day I cant remember seeing a single team without at least 2 of these mons. The AvaChan core is really hard to breakthrough without a trapper and I feel like the tier would be much more unique and enj0yable if Chansey/Ava/Serp/Pory 2 were all gone. Not sure if anyone agrees but thats just my opinion. On another note I have found Mixnite to be a great help to breaking the core Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Inner Focus EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef) - Draco Meteor - Ice Beam - Outrage - Extreme Speed 4 SpAtk Life Orb Dragonite Ice Beam vs. 252 HP/8 SpDef Leftovers Avalugg: 236 - 278 (59.9 - 70.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers 252+ Atk Life Orb Dragonite Outrage vs. 4 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 380-448 (59.1 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Also it can take out pory2 with a little prior damage 4 SpA Life Orb Dragonite Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 129-152 (34.4 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO 252+ Atk Life Orb Dragonite Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Porygon2: 148-175 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO Inner focus is for lead lopunnies since im using LO multiscale doesnt help much anyways. This thing is a huge threat and easily my favorite mon in inverted right now
tbh I'd rather have Chansey and Ava stay. Helps stop it from becoming pure normal spam. Not the only thing preventing this from happening, but at the moment it's the main stop to this.
While using Life Orb is great for extra power, losing Multiscale isn't really worth it imo. If you're looking for the most effective way to break Chanslugg + Porygon2 without using gimmicky things, I suggest this. It works for me so far. Meloetta @ Leftovers Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 140 SpA / 116 SpD Modest Nature - Substitute - Calm Mind - Hyper Voice - Psyshock 252 HP makes this thing unbreakable by Chansey's Seismic Toss. The EV spread may be strange but 116 SpD makes the Substitute unbreakable by uninvested Analytic Tri Attack from Porygon2 if it haven't used Calm Mind yet (it has small chance but negligible). This is probably not the best EV spread though. 0 SpA Analytic Porygon2 Tri Attack vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Meloetta: 85-102 (21 - 25.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery Why am I running this? Because it's really annoying to have your substitute broken in one hit. Without SpD investment, uninvested Tri Attack from Analytic Porygon2 have a good chance at breaking my substitute. If you don't want Avalugg's uninvested Earthquake to break your sub, you can dump all EVs in Special Attack to Defense, though you lose some power. I found this set is the most effective way to break Chanslugg + Porygon2 core so far. Gothitelle can't trap Avalugg if it carry Shed Shell, while it can kill Chansey easily, so its not that effective. This thing can kill all three pokes quite easily. Imo if we want to try something fresh for the meta, why not unban some Ubers? I'm pretty sure Dialga won't be broken, because it's a freaking STEEL type and we all know Steel type isn't good.
Seconding Chopin's idea of Unbanning some stuff from Uber. Giratina-A and Dialga comes to mind first. Dialga has 9 weaknesses(a 4x grass one) . 2 resists, kinda slow and walled hard by the likes of Chansey, Lati@s etc. He is also the only dragon who doesn't resist dragon. Only thing going for its strongest Draco Meteor ever seen. But the meta is more than capable of playing around it, seeing the aforementioned mons are very good on their own right. Giratina-A has great bulk which doesn't mean much when you have 8 weaknesses, only 2 resist and no reliable recovery. His offenses is meh, and the only boosting move is calm mind. Defog is probably the only niche here, or maybe he will try to wallbreak with stab shadow force and draco. However, the aforementioned wall breaking job is where Giratina-O shines at, and therefore Griseous Orb is probably better of left banned. Imo, Inverted had a sizable popularity at the beginning of Gen 6, these new and seemingly legitimate additions might stirr things up; encouraging more players to try out the tier.
I think we should ban Serperior, grass is amazing in this meta, especially coming with Contrary Leaf Storm
This kinda sums up why Giratina in Inverted Battle isn't such a great idea. Dragon+Steel aren't horrible offensive typings, combine them with a strong coverage+support movepool, stellar attacking stats, and decent speed and you've got a pretty broken Pokemon. Not to mention how bulky it still is with 100/120/100 defensive stats, as pokemonnerd outlined above, often offsets its poor typing. Essentially the same applies to Giratina, although it sacrifices a little offensive power for increased bulk. "Poor typing" (a bit subjective here) is not a reason to unban something with such amazing stats and movepools. @Funbot28, Serperior recently had a suspect discussion in which the players did not seem particularly keen on banning it. This doesn't mean it can never be banned, but not a whole lot has changed since then. Were large metagame shifts and/or playerbase changes to occur we might suspect Serperior again.
