It has come to my attention that the timer is 5 minutes. personally sometimes I forget I'm battling (very rarely) I have to wait so long. Wait-out opponents have severely angered me. Today I waited 5 minutes for an opponent to move. They never did move, not even once, but they forced rated battles and then had a link to a website for their loss message. =-= people are spamming it. When an opponent is winning, they'll wait them to try and get them to just say "to hell with it" and forfeit, either to gain ladder or to be annoying and win a battle they normally could not. Today's incident really got to me because that was spamming the battle system for a link. They get ladder points if you surrender (high likelihood) and if not they advertise. This is unright. The player was [mys] something or another it's some kinda clan and the link led to some mysdia forum. When I checked to kick him/her there weren't any [mys] players online.

If the wait timer was 3 minutes, it wouldn't be AS easy to spam, and it would certainly save time against cheap people who wait you. Make it less annoying and more likely for you to deal with it anyway and win despite their cheap attitude. It would make waiting on idiots who spam it like the [mys] person faster, and again increase likelihood in not getting annoyed and forfeiting.

It annoys me incredibly, and I would like to suggest making the timer 3 minutes. there is a "no time out" clause if need be, but for the most part it would make things a tad easier wouldn't it? I ask your opinions, and suggest this, please consider,
    Sincerely,
    Xavier Final

3 minutes sounds good. Let's see if other users think the same.

I'd say give it a try for now, but I personally like 5 as I get sidetracked easy and forget im battling...

I think five minutes is fine. Ocasionally I have to check something or even run damage calcs, and 3 minutes might not be enough if I already lost some time by thinking over different possibilities earlier in the match.

If someone uses ladder as easy way of advertising their site or gaining free wins, they shouldn't be able to enter it in first place. But people will still quit out of boredom, no matter if timer is set to 5 or 3 minutes.

As much as it wouldn't hurt to test, I can't see it having any benefits.

Yeah I prefer 5 minutes because it gives just that extra time to get back to the match. An obscure example - but I got annoyed when netbattle changed to 3 minutes because I was using team viewer with someone in order to battle on it and I dced. 3 minutes didn't give enough reaction time to either remind the person to continue the battle or reconnect to them.

5 minutes with the 30 seconds isn't that bad of a wait.

I'm gonna suggest letting the challenger pick how long the timeout is (2 to 5 minutes, possibly?). Obviously, make this show in the challengee's window.

I'm not really for having an optional time. It's another one of those things that will make challenge preferences more diverse and thus less consensual. I do see the benefits of it making opponents go at a similar pace though - I'm still just not sure that it's worth it.

I'm happy with 5 personally, you won't have to wait that long generally and it is very annoying to not have time to properly think about moves/check information mid battle. Having an adjustable timer would be kinda neat, could play "blitz Pokemon" with like a 1 min/10 second timer, but 5 mins is a good standard setting imo.
