Hey everyone, I'm a relative newbie when it comes to competitive playing. This is my first team that has proven to be somewhat effective, and I admit I used Smogon's website a bit to help build it.. but of course there is room for improvement. Spoiler Forretress (M) @ Custap Berry Trait: Sturdy EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def Lax Nature (+Def, -SDef) - Toxic Spikes - Stealth Rock - Rapid Spin - Explosion Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Drought EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 136 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Will-O-Wisp - Sunny Day - Roar Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Sunny Day - Solar Beam - Hidden Power [Ice] - Magma Storm Gengar (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Shadow Ball - Focus Blast - Pain Split Venusaur (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Growth - Giga Drain - Hidden Power [Fire] - Sludge Bomb Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Multiscale EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Outrage - Extreme Speed - Fire Punch - Earthquake[/HIDE] Hey everyone, I'm a relative newbie when it comes to competitive playing. This is my first team that has proven to be somewhat effective, but of course there is room for improvement. Forretress (M) @ Custap Berry Trait: Sturdy EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def Lax Nature (+Def, -SDef) - Toxic Spikes - Stealth Rock - Rapid Spin - Explosion This is my lead/entry hazard setter-upper. I chose a sightly more offensive variation, with Explosion being used as a last resort when Forretress' HP is very low. Rapid Spin is of course used to get rid of opposing Entry Hazards. Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Drought EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 136 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Will-O-Wisp - Sunny Day - Roar Ninetales is a tactical centerpiece of this team. It enables infinite sun, which empowers teammates Heatran and Venusaur. I'll discuss what they do in further detail later. Sunny Day is there just in case another weather inducer switches in. Will-O-Wisp is a crippler, and Roar screws with oposing setter-uppers. Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Sunny Day - Solar Beam - Hidden Power [Ice] - Magma Storm (with the help of smogon): Heatran is a benefactor of Sunny Day. The main use of Heatran here is if a weather inducer switches in, hopefully with a lower speed stat, Heatran can use Magma Storm and trap the weather inducer. Then, Heatran uses Sunny Day to get the sun back, which means Water STAB attacks no longer will be super-effective against Heatran. Ninetales can also summon an infinite sun once again. HP Ice helps fight and trap dragon types. Gengar (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Shadow Ball - Focus Blast - Pain Split This is the typical "SubSplit" Gengar set. Honestly I thought this would be useful, but while testing I found that Gengar faints too quickly. So I am especially taking suggestions here. Venusaur (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 72 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Growth - Giga Drain - Hidden Power [Fire] - Sludge Bomb Another benefactor of Sunny Day is Venusaur. Its speed doubles in the sun thanks to Chlorophyll, which helps enable sweeping ability. Growth helps incredibly, especially in the sunlight, skyrocketing Venusaur's Special Attack. Ninetails of course helps ensure the sun stays. Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb are STABs here, each having their own secondary effect as well, which is helpful. HP Fire is enhanced by the sun, and helps fight against steel types. Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Multiscale EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Outrage - Extreme Speed - Fire Punch - Earthquake This is Choice Band Dragonite. Physical Offense is key here. The moveset has a lot of variety type-wise, allowing for great coverage.
A very standard OU team.. Just saying that the EV Spread for Venusaur is actually lame, go full speed and 4 HP. And, you gotta have 3 lines min on each Pokémon.
Yeah I'm trying to spice it up. and I (stupidly) typed the whole thing up in a word processor and it was 3 lines there. I'll work on adding more though.
Hello, nice team you have here. The movesets are all pretty nice. One suggestion I have is to use Scarf MixMoxie Salamence in place of Dragonite just because it is overall a much better sweeper. Also, work on having 3 lines of description on each poke and the importable at the bottom. Nice team!
