Hey guys! With XY LC starting out and there will obviously be new pokemon with new sets. This thread can be used to post new sets that you have found effective in the current unstable meta. Discuss sets and help improve upon the sets of others. Please refrain from posting troll sets. Enjoy XY LC! credit goes to pkparaiso.com for the super cool images
Snubbull (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Intimidate EVs: 196 HP / 196 Atk / 116 Def Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Play Rough - Thunder Wave / Crunch - Earthquake / Fire Punch - Ice Punch / Fire Punch / Heal Bell Snubull's new typing has given it new wind, its excellent intimidate ability finally gets to shine with a good defensive typing. Its attack stat is pretty high and allows it to serve a lot like Munchlax, a slow bulky tank that hits like a small train.
No pkparaiso for Swirlix yet :[ Swirlix (F) @ Oran Berry Trait: Unburden EVs: 180 HP / 148 Def / 44 SAtk / 124 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Dazzling Gleam - Flamethrower - Calm Mind - Substitute Finding out Swirlix got Unburden made me immediately seek out a way to make it legit. Then I saw it got Flamethrower and rejoiced. Good defenses even without Evio, outspeeds scarf 19s after Unburden boost, awesome coverage. Could try some ChestoRest set or something too. Spritzee (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Healer EVs: 212 HP / 196 Def / 16 SAtk / 80 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Moon Blast - Calm Mind / Protect - Hidden Power [Ground] / Thunder Bolt / Toxic - Wish Great bulk + typing, and an impressive movepool too. I wasn't sure about it til I bred Wish onto it ingame, now I know it's gonna rule.
Rufflet (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Hustle EVs: 252 Atk / 60 Def / 196 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Brave Bird - U-turn - Superpower - Return With new breeding mechanics, Rufflet is usable again! Aerial Ace can be slotted in somewhere if you fear misses as well
Swirlix (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Sweet Veil EVs: 180 HP / 228 Def / 60 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Protect - Dazzling Gleam - Flamethrower - Wish I've been using this set to beat annoying Fighting types like Scraggy and more dangerous threats like Sneasel. It has p good coverage with Dazzling Gleam and Flamethrower and can stay throughout the battle with Wish + Protect.
Pumpkaboo (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Insomnia EVs: 148 Atk / 196 Def / 156 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Flame Charge - Seed Bomb - Shadow Sneak - Rock Slide/Leech Seed Pumkaboo is a freight train. So very very bulky with a useable attack to boot. Flame charge boosting is great, and its a good coverage move. Shadow sneak can revenge low health Missy with ease, and seed bomb is a great physical stab. Leech seed can help it set up but really isn't needed. Froakie (F) @ Salac Berry Trait: Protean EVs: 28 HP / 228 Atk / 36 Def / 4 SDef / 188 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Waterfall - Power-Up Punch/Bounce - Rock Slide - Substitute Froakie has decent enough speed to use a good sub salac set Salac. Froakie is such a weird Pokémon with protean and STAB on EVERYTHING. With some of the bigger stuff back this set is not as good as I see it being after the meta stabilizes. Amaura (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Snow Warning EVs: 36 Def / 220 SAtk / 252 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Blizzard - Thunderbolt - Flash Cannon/Ancient Power - Rock Polish Amaura has good HP and special stats, and a great ability in snow warning. It has just enough speed to beat the entire non scared meta game at +2, and it has a strong bolt beam to back it up. Best Amaura set I've come up with.
Year of the bird #thankyoubaseddefog Starly (F) @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf / Life Orb / Eviolite (you can't stop me) Trait: Reckless EVs: 236 Atk / 40 SDef / 196 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Brave Bird - Double-Edge - U-turn - Quick Attack / Roost Also protect doesn't stop roar now Riolu (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Prankster EVs: 196 HP / 36 Atk / 36 Def / 40 SDef / 200 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Roar - Protect - High Jump Kick / Drain Punch - Copycat One more for the road! Budew (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 196 HP / 80 Def / 200 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Spikes - Sludge Bomb - Sleep Powder - Rest/Synthesis (meh)
Some sets I'm using for fun: Pancham (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Scrappy EVs: 180 Atk / 24 Def / 52 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Retaliate - Stone Edge - Parting Shot - Brick Break Pancham's only possible niche without being outclassed Imo First slot is a filler don't focus too much on it With Jolly it hits 15 Spd and so it outspeeds some random Scarfer hitting 14, Adamant is an option Currently trying Mold Breaker and Crunch, I think Mold Breaker should work with Contrary pokes not sure since I haven't seen any Honedge (F) @ Eviolite Trait: No Guard EVs: 156 HP / 196 Atk / 140 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Iron Head - Sacred Sword - Swords Dance - Shadow Sneak Self explanatory tbh Fletchling (F) @ Flying Gem Trait: Gale Wings EVs: 196 Atk / 12 Def / 52 SDef / 180 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Acrobatics - Protect - Swords Dance - Flame Charge My fave gen 6 poke!! Flame Charge isn't STABd but it's good for 1 and only 1 purpose: since this poke isn't really fast it may happen that Houndour hits with Sucker Punch before Acrobatics, Flame Charge offers really little coverage but is nice, Protect is for Fake Out pokes A bit less Spd could be used (it hits 15 with Adamant and max EVs)
Croagunk (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Dry Skin EVs: 212 HP / 28 Atk / 36 Def / 108 SAtk / 116 SDef Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd) - Vacuum Wave - Sludge Bomb - Knock Off - Drain Punch I've been using this along with Speed Boost Carvanha, and it has been doing great. Vacuum Wave for enemy Carvanhas and for universal priority. Sludge Bomb for Fairies. Knock Off for softening up the opposing team for Carvanha to clean. Drain Punch for longevity and also hitting Ferroseed which is important.
Croagunk (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Dry Skin EVs: 212 HP / 36 Def / 188 SAtk / 36 SDef / 36 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Vacuum Wave - Sludge Wave - Knock Off - Icy Wind I find this little set incredibly fun, with some prediction and proper use it can pose a real potent threat to a large number of mon, Knock Off is a godly move, removing items and packing a punch to boot, Sludge Wave is of course, a powerhouse STAB, Icy Wind allows you to slam Gligar on the switch with some heavy damage and speed loss, Vacc Wave is priority for picking off things like Shell Smashers, Scraggy and anything else that's weak.
Gligar (M) @ Flying Gem Trait: Immunity EVs: 236 Atk / 240 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Substitute - Swords Dance - Acrobatics - Earthquake Best pokemon in the tier. Nuff said. Meditite (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Pure Power EVs: 112 HP / 196 Atk / 200 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - High Jump Kick - Ice Punch - Zen Headbutt - Thunder Punch People are going to use the eviolite drain punch set with priority but this is just as deadly. Think of it like a scarf mienfoo that resists fighting, hits harder and has arguably better coverage.
Amaura (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Snow Warning EVs: 220 HP / 196 Def / 60 SAtk / 12 SDef / 20 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Blizzard - Thunderbolt - Thunder Wave - Encore Just a really bad set that I've been checking Murkrow with. Hasn't lost to Murk yet, and I've even seen one with Heat Wave :o.
Scraggy @ Eviolite Trait: Shed Skin EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SDef / 212 Spd Jolly Nature - Dragon Dance - Drain Punch / High Jump Kick - Knock Off - Ice Punch / Poison Jab / Iron Head / Zen Headbutt Scraggy is easily one of the most threatning sweepers out there. Boosting both its attack and speed with Dragon Dance. Fighting STAB of choice. Knock is the preferred Dark STAB since with the BP boost and addition boost it gains, when the opponent has an item, it just much more appealing. Last slot goes to coverage moves. Ice Punch for Gligar and Murkrow. Poison Jab or Iron Head for Fairies. Zen Headbutt for Croagunk.
Meowth @ Normal Gem Trait: Technician EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 40 SpD / 196 Spe Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SpA) - Fake Out - Covet - Thief - U-turn I've been having quite a bit of fun with this. Both Covet and Thief are now 60 power, and Technician boosts them to 90. Covet isn't quite as powerful as Return, but what it does do is steal an item from the target. Get an Oran Berry? That's alright, just eat it, get a free 10 HP and go steal something else! Get an Eviolite? You've likely crippled a wall. Get a Choice Specs? Well... you're out of luck then. Fake Out is used to consume the Normal Gem (though you can also do that on Covet). Thief is for coverage and hits Ghost-types looking to block Fake Out hard (Pumpkaboo, I'm looking at you), and Normal/Dark hits most Pokémon for at least neutral. U-turn is largely filler, but it does keep the momentum going. I'm about to try this type of set on Mincinno, except with Fling instead of Fake Out to get rid of whatever item I get. Edit: Ok, from what I've seen, Fling Mincinno isn't as great as I expected. It's a bit slow and frail, making it hard to actually Fling what it stole. No Fake Out doesn't help it either, and Skill Link Tail Slap is a much better set for it.
Cursemite (Bergmite) (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Sturdy/Own Tempo/Ice Body EVs: 124 Atk / 76 Def / 236 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Recover - Avalanche - Curse - Gyro Ball/Stone Edge Cursemite is LC Curselax since Munchlax sucks. Strong on defensive and bulky offensive teams. It wont be moving first any time soon and tends to get hit a lot, so 90% of the time you get to use a 120 base power Ice STAB. Gyro Ball and Stone Edge are really just filler since at +2 nothing wants to tank an Avalanche. Recover and Curse are pretty much self explanatory. A non spinning Bergmite throws people for a loop quite a bit. All three abilities are great since Ice Body gets bonus healing in hail (two setters in the tier), Sturdy pretty much guarantees a hit, and Own Tempo is a giant screw you to Krow. Oh yeah it beats Krow 1v1 most of the time.
@ Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost EVs: max satk / max spd Modest Nature - Substitute - Bug Buzz - Air Slash - Hidden Power [Ground] really good set that cleans weakend teams late-game. Bug Buzz and Air Slash as STABs, HP Ground hits annoying rock and steel types hard. With a modest nature + max sattack + life orb Yanma packs a painful punch. i try to use it with spikes etc.
Anorith (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Battle Armor EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Knock Off - Rock Blast - Stealth Rock - X-Scissor / Rapid Spin Cool little supportive Anorith, can do some serious work, or just Knock Off, set up rocks and die. Regardless it's a fun set to use and it's not a common Pokémon despite it's great stats.
Fletchling (M) @ (No Item) Trait: Big Pecks EVs: 196 Atk / 12 Def / 52 SDef / 180 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Acrobatics - Overheat - Roost - Swords Dance ACROBATICS SPAM. In my experience with this set has been a hyper-spammable revenger and a potent sweeper. Fletch doesn't even need an item to rek. Overheat OHKOs Seed and does stupid damage to most steels. Acrobatics is a spammable 110 base power priority move.
Consider running Protect over something as I did in the set I posted above, it's really good for Fake Out users (even more if you consider you aren't running Eviolite)
A set I've been using: Swirlix (M) @ Oran Berry Trait: Unburden EVs: 208 SAtk / 96 SDef / 204 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Dazzling Gleam - Flamethrower - Surf Late game, this set is lethal. Rarely does it not get at least 2 KOs. Calm Mind gives it more power and special bulk. Dazzling Gleam gets STAB, and wrecks anything that doesn't resist it or isn't a dedicated special wall after a boost or 2. Flamethrower toasts the Steel types that resist Dazzling Gleam - Surf takes out the bulky Ground types. Since Swirlix resists Mach Punch and Sucker Punch, it's a great sweeper. The EVs maximise its special attack, while allowing it to tie with Scarfed 19 speed Pokémon after the Oran Berry's gone.
this set is absolutely beastly: Horsea (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 36 Def / 200 SAtk / 76 SDef / 196 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam - Rain Dance - Hidden Power [Grass] rain and sun sweepers in general are way stronger because of the lack of snover usage. walled by a few things and its not in love with sucker punch but still very very very good. obviously prefers to have rain dance set up for it. goes great with mienfoo who can take out two of its three big counters in munchlax and ferroseed. mantyke walls it cold but is rare and can be played around with horseas support.
@ Choice Scarf Trait: Skill Link EVs: 36 HP / 156 Atk / 36 Def / 76 SDef / 196 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Rock Blast - Icicle Spear - Sleep Talk - Razor Shell About as anti-Yanma as it gets. I've been using this set to screw over Yanma, Gligar, Murkrow, and Fletchling. 17 defense lets me tank pretty much any un-boosted physical hit.
Meditite (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Pure Power EVs: 116 HP / 196 Atk / 196 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Zen Headbutt - Drain Punch - Fake Out - Bullet Punch That's an old set I used to use in early BW, tested it in XY and still works. It's bulkier than what it looks like and wearing it down isn't that easy thanks to its strong ass Drain Punch. Zen Headbutt hits everything that resists / has immunity to Drain Punch hard, except Slowpoke and Eviolite Gligar. Fake Out + Bullet Punch provides dual priority, which is quite nice in LC even if both moves are unSTABed.
Vullaby (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Overcoat EVs: 196 HP / 236 Def / 76 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Defog - Knock Off - Roost - U-turn Pretty bulky little bird, Knock Off allows it to deal damage and provide support to any offensive mon, stuff like Shell Smashers and SD Totodile love Knock Off support. U-Turn allows you to scout out switches and deal some hurt. Roost is Roost. The last slot I gave to Defog since my team doesn't have hazards, but this set sometimes finds itself setup fodder, so I would recommend Whirlwind if you don't want to use Defog, or lack good prio. Also Absorbs Spore from Foongus or Sleep Powder from a variety of rare-ish grass types.
Amaura (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Refrigerate EVs: 208 Atk / 72 SAtk / 228 Spd Hasty Nature (+Spd -Def) - Return - Stone Edge - Thunderbolt - Bulldoze General wall breaker. Return hits for 198 power with STAB and Refrigerate boost. Stone Edge is the alternate STAB, and wrecks the Fire types that resist Return. Thunderbolt deals with the bulky waters (apart from Chinchou obviously) and 2HKOs Slowpoke and Tirtouga after Stealth Rock. Bulldoze is mostly filler, although it does 2HKO Chinchou on the switch. The EVs let Amaura outrun defensive Mienfoo, who it can lure in and 2HKO on the switch with Return. Attack is maximised to make the physical moves as powerful as possible - the rest puts special attack up one point. I know it has A LOT of weaknesses, and Fighting types are common, but I beg you: give it a go. Very rarely will it not get a KO in a match. Still not sold? Here are some calcs: Spoiler 72 SpA Life Orb Amaura Thunderbolt vs. 196 HP / 116 SpD Eviolite Slowpoke: 13-18 (46.4 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 208 Atk Life Orb Refrigerate Amaura Return vs. 164 HP / 188+ Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 9-13 (39.1 - 56.5%) -- 88.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock 208 Atk Life Orb Refrigerate Amaura Return vs. 232 HP / 196 Def Eviolite Porygon: 12-16 (48 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 208 Atk Life Orb Amaura Stone Edge vs. 76 HP / 132 Def Eviolite Chinchou: 12-16 (48 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 208 Atk Life Orb Amaura Bulldoze vs. 76 HP / 132 Def Eviolite Chinchou: 13-16 (52 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO [/HIDE]
@ Choice Band (credit to pkparaiso.com for the image!) Ability: Strong Jaw EV's: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp.Atk) OR Jolly (+Spe. -Sp.Atk.) Moveset: ~Crunch ~Ice Fang ~Thunder Fang ~Fire Fang People say not to use choice band in LC but, for Tyrunt it's very good, you can easily sweep a few pokemon if you send him out first, it's basically a send out and sweep, nothing much else to say...
I'm sorry but why doesn't that Tyrunt have a single STAB in its moveset? That just doesn't make any sense... Personally I would prefer a Dragon Dance set. It has a powerful secondary Rock STAB (though it doesn't provide much coverage alongside a Dragon-type move) and a great movepool that enables the dinossaur to outclass most dancing Dragons in the tier (goodbye Axew). The downisde is that its Rock type is a curse defensively.
Carvanha - once banned, now legal. Although it's KOd by a strong gust of wind, it's a great late game cleaner Carvanha @ Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost Adamant Nature (+Atk -SAtk) EV: 252 Atk, 252 Spd Protect Waterfall Crunch Zen Headbutt Protect to guarantee a speed boost, Waterfall and Crunch for STAB, Zen Headbutt for Fighting types. Aqua Jet's pointless thanks to Speed Boost, since you outrun everything at +2 anyway. EVs are self explanatory - Life Orb gives some extra power. Carvanha @ Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost Modest Nature EV: 252 SAtk, 252 Spd Protect Hydro Pump Dark Pulse Ice Beam Much the same, just from the special side. Hydro Pump is the STAB for power, Dark Pulse is the STAB for consistency. Ice Beam hits the Dragon and Grass types super effectively. EVs are self explanatory.
Mienfoo @ Life Orb Trait: Regenerator EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def or SDef / 236 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Hi Jump Kick - Knock Off - U-Turn - Stone Edge Bulky Mienfoo is very popular due to ability to take hits and dish out damage and then switch out recovering health. This set however is about power. It's HJK hits ridiculously hard 2HKOing even some resists. Knock Off smacks Ghosts switching in and hits harder with LO, U-Turn to scout and is good with Regen and Stone Edge hit's Flying Pokemon and Larvesta. I don't use it much so Fake Out can be used for prio. The great thing about this set is it catches people off guard thinking they can tank a Drain Punch only to be OHKO'd by LO boosted HJK. Very fun set to use.
Bunnelby (F) @ Choice Band Trait: Huge Power EVs: 60 HP / 228 Atk / 220 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Frustration - U-turn - Quick Attack / Payback Not enough people use CB Bunny, Payback is to hit Misdreavus on the switch of course, but if you run a Stunky you can mitigate the need for that at all with a clever switch. Otherwise you're going to be busting out some crazy damage on everything else. 228 Atk Choice Band Huge Power Bunnelby Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Magnemite: 11-13 (50 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 228 Atk Choice Band Huge Power Bunnelby Return vs. 236 HP / 196 Def Eviolite Porygon: 18-22 (69.2 - 84.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 228 Atk Choice Band Huge Power Bunnelby U-turn vs. 236 HP / 196 Def Eviolite Porygon: 9-11 (34.6 - 42.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO 228 Atk Choice Band Huge Power Bunnelby Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 76 Def Eviolite Meditite: 9-12 (47.3 - 63.1%) -- 96.5% chance to 2HKO 228 Atk Choice Band Huge Power Bunnelby Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 60 Def Chinchou: 16-19 (66.6 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Nice 'n' clean.
Swirlix (F) @ Oran Berry Trait: Unburden EVs: 20 HP / 72 Def / 204 SAtk / 204 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Cotton Guard - Calm Mind - Draining Kiss - Flamethrower Pretty sure the ev's aren't right.. Less standard but still deadly swirlix. Works by boosting both defenses until you are un-killable and hit like a truck. Recovery is remedied by draining kiss which after a few calm minds should hit hard enough. Flamethrower to hit those stupid steel types and croagunk. Sure you're walled by tentacool/skrelp and fire types but a. Not many people use skrelp/tentacool b. It gets surf, t-bolt and psychic c. That's why teammates exist
Kinda went overboard.. But yeah. Meet Ducklett, A pokemon who didn't really get alot of shine in the last gens meta. It didn't really have MUCH viable usage in Little Cup as it does now. It's not a major change with Ducklett. It's just a bit better than what it was before. Ducklett is a Water / Flying typed pokemon which a alright kind of typing in the metagame. The only real looming problems with Duckletts typing is the x4 weakness to Electric. As for the rock weakness it's taking care of with it's water typing. Ducketts stats are: Ducklett @ Eviolite Ability: Keen Eye Level: 5 EVs: 196 Def / 196 SDef / 116 SAtk or HP Bold Nature - Defog - Scald - Roost - Air Slash Defog- This is what made Ducklett more viable as a option to begin with. Most pokes in Little Cup don't have access to Defog. Some do, but it's not a big list to where Ducklett is shallowed by the choice. Defog is used now to get rid of all hazards, screens, types of veils that is on both sides on the field. Making the entire battle field clean. It also lowers the evasion of the opponent by 1 stage. Scald- Ducklett needs Scald! This helps it against so many of it's threats. On the physical offensive spectrum. Ducklett can Scald most of them to entitle a burn while it's only 30% it' still better odds than 0% Scald is the main water typed STAB for this set as well. Roost- It's rather good that Ducklett can do Roost. It allows it to be able to tank some hits in the tier. With it's 55 base speed it will outspeed some other better walls out there and Roost itself to full. Or to a good amount. Roost heals 50% of it's HP and gets rid of the flying type it has for the turn that it was used. Air Slash- This is the other STAB in this set. Air Slash also works as semi-decent coverage as well. It allows it to hit Grass / Fighting types for SE damage. 10% Chance to flinch the foe as well. [align=center]Set Counters![/align] * - Lileep [Storm Drain] Lileep is a threat to Ducklett cause of Storm Drain, and Toxic. Lileep can easily absorb all of Duckletts Scalds and proceed to get a +1 boost in SAtk cause of it due to Storm Drain. It also has access to Ancientpower which will be a 3HKO at best. With Toxic wearing it down. It will more than likely turn into a 2HKO. Here is a calc. 0 SpA Lileep Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Ducklett: 8-12 (36.3 - 54.5%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO * - Chinchou [Any with VS or Tbolt] Out of all the offensive threats to Ducklett that can exploit it's x4 weakness to electric. Chinchou would be the second best of them all to exploit them. Chinchou is more so a check than anything cause Ducklett can't do nothing to Chinchou it can Scald and hope for a burn when someone switches it in but that is it. 232+ SpA Chinchou Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Ducklett: 28-36 (127.2 - 163.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO 0 SpA Chinchou Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Ducklett: 24-28 (109 - 127.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO * - Helioptile [Dry Skin] Helioptile is the best counter to Ducklett. One cause of it's ability alone. This set needs Scald in order for it to function well around the physical spectrum. With Helioptile having access to Dry Skin it completely negates the Scald and it gains some HP back from the attack. [/b]188+ SpA Helioptile Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Ducklett: 28-40 (127.2 - 181.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO[/b] * - Goomy Goomy is love, Goomy is life. [Had to throw that one in there.] Anyways, Goomy is another pokemon that Ducklett can't really touch for any kind of benefit. The best it can do is Air Slash and Goomy won't flinch alot due to it being a 10% chance to do so. Goomy can easily retailate with a Thunderbolt thus having a insanely high chance to OHKO Ducklett. 252+ SpA Goomy Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Ducklett: 20-28 (90.9 - 127.2%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
Try 180 HP / 196 Def / 4 SpA / 116 SpD ev's for ducklett. I don't see it as so viable but looking at it's counters it might be good when paired with a grass type like foongus to make a nice core.
RAIN POST GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Mantyke@Eviolite/Life orb Modest Nature 196SpA/196Spe/116Def -Air Slash -Hydro Pump/Surf -Rain Dance -Ice beam/Substitute The premier rain sweeper in the tier. It has the highest special defense stat in the tier (don't rely on that with life orb though, Base 40 HP isn't great) and hits a speed stat of 28 in the rain with a modest nature. While base 60 SpA may not seem great, in the rain and with a life orb it WILL devastate anything not named chinchou. With an eviolite, you can take just about any special attack in the tier and become a tank sweeper who can set rain dance reliably throughout the match. Some other options to consider are a timid nature to speed tie swirlix and outspeed 19 scarfers, hidden power grass for chinchou, and an agility set. Don't believe me? Have some calcs: Spoiler 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 36 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Misdreavus in Rain: 19-23 (82.6 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 36 HP / 80 SpD Eviolite Misdreavus in Rain: 16-19 (69.5 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Scarf Chinchou in Rain: 16-18 (66.6 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Ice Beam vs. 228 HP / 140 SpD Eviolite Lileep: 13-16 (50 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 236 HP / 76+ SpD Eviolite Porygon in Rain: 16-19 (61.5 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 164 HP / 236 SpD Eviolite Tirtouga in Rain: 19-23 (79.1 - 95.8%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 212 HP / 76 SpD Eviolite Spritzee in Rain: 19-23 (70.3 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock 196+ SpA Life Orb Mantyke Hydro Pump vs. 116 HP / 236 SpD Eviolite Vullaby in Rain: 16-19 (64 - 76%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock[/HIDE] Horsea@Eviolite/Life orb Modest/Timid Nature 36Def/200SpA76SpD/196Spe -Hydro Pump/Surf -Hidden power Grass -Ice Beam -Rain Dance Pretty much a carbon copy of mantyke. Main difference is the typing, higher speed and special attack, and higher phys defence. Honestly not much explaining to do here since just about everything was explained in the mantyke thing... Croagunk@Eviolite Lonely Nature 188SpA/188Att/116Spe -Fake Out -Vacuum Wave -Sucker Punch -Shadow Ball Set taken from the HGSS era. Dry skin negates life orb recoil making for a good priority attacker. Moves are pretty self explanatory with shadow ball being used to hit miscellaneous ghosts. Of course the moves aren't set in stone (Bar vacuum wave and Fake out) so don't be afraid to experiment. /@Eviolite Adamant/Jolly Nature -Rain Dance -Waterfall -Stone Edge/Rock slide -Shell Smash or Hone Claws/Aqua jet/Knock off Physical sweepers. Kabuto has the benefit of being faster than tirtouga but not much else. Shell smash tirtouga WILL kill everything in the rain, no questions asked, while kabuta will outspeed the entire scarf tier in rain. Anorith also gets a mention as a physical sweeper being even faster than kabuto, stronger than tirtouga, but at the cost of bulk and getting STAB boosted by rain.
Well, making my little contribution to a pure fun tier. RAKNENpяs (Spinarak) (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Sniper EVs: 44 HP / 196 Atk / 72 Def / 196 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Sticky Web - Cross Poison - X-Scissor - Sucker Punch Lead Spinarak, and its target is basically Sticky Webbing the opp to have (nearly in all cases) the speed advantage using any average speed team. Why Cross Poison > Poison Jab? The reason is simple. Sniper. As we know Sniper boosts moves in case of a crit, and Cross Point has increased crit rate. So yeah, its basically a haxxy set that deffinetly works. Sash obviously for have always the chance to Sticky Web, and Sucker Punch to give those final hits that sometimes decide battles. Some random calcs for understand better how OP this little cute bug is: Attacking 196+ Atk Spinarak Sucker Punch vs. 36 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Misdreavus: 10-14 (43.4 - 60.8%) -- 88.7% chance to 2HKO 196+ Atk Sniper Spinarak Cross Poison vs. 0 HP / 76 Def Eviolite Meditite on a critical hit: 15-19 (78.9 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO 196+ Atk Spinarak Cross Poison vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Swirlix: 18-24 (81.8 - 109%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO Defending 236+ Atk Mienfoo Fake Out vs. 44 HP / 72 Def Spinarak: 5-7 (23.8 - 33.3%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO 196+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Fake Out vs. 44 HP / 72 Def Spinarak: 8-10 (38 - 47.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO 236+ Atk Pawniard Sucker Punch vs. 44 HP / 72 Def Spinarak: 16-19 (76.1 - 90.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Counters/Issues Well, its main counter is BY FAR Rock Blast Dwebble, since it makes the Sash Useless and ofc it kills it. Also Taunt Mienfoo is another strong counter to is. Otherwise it has the typical bug problems (lack of HP and Defenses, walled by several types, etc.). Those issues make it 'nearly' a suicide lead. LordROOTpяs (Lileep) (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Storm Drain EVs: 148 HP / 140 Def / 188 SAtk / 32 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Recover - Earth Power - Ancient Power - Energy Ball Ignoring the Ice weakness, I can't actually think of a better Chinchou/Carvanha/Tirtouga/etc. counter. It has a brilliant Power-Bulk combination making it nearly a special wall capable of face massively strong opps like Misdreavus or Porygons. I prefered in this set to use Recover > GigaDrain to use Energy Ball and its extra power that sometimes saves the day. Ancient Power for any Flying poke that stands in the way (and why not, spam it for an eventual stats boost). Finally I went for Earth Power to basically give strong hits to those Pawniards and Magnemites that otherwise would be a wall for it. Again, some interesting calcs: Attacking 188+ SpA Lileep Energy Ball vs. 237 HP / 229+ SpD Eviolite Chinchou: 14-18 (51.8 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 188+ SpA Lileep Energy Ball vs. 36 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Misdreavus: 7-10 (30.4 - 43.4%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO 188+ SpA Lileep Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 196 SpD Eviolite Pawniard: 12-16 (57.1 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 188+ SpA Lileep Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Murkrow: 14-20 (63.6 - 90.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Defending 232+ SpA Chinchou Ice Beam vs. 148 HP / 60 SpD Eviolite Lileep: 10-12 (40 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO 236+ Atk Pawniard Iron Head vs. 148 HP / 140 Def Eviolite Lileep: 14-20 (56 - 80%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 236 Atk Murkrow Brave Bird vs. 148 HP / 140 Def Eviolite Lileep: 10-13 (40 - 52%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO 236 SpA Misdreavus Shadow Ball vs. 148 HP / 60 SpD Eviolite Lileep: 7-9 (28 - 36%) -- 1.1% chance to 3HKO 196+ Atk Pure Power Meditite Drain Punch vs. 148 HP / 140 Def Eviolite Lileep: 20-26 (80 - 104%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO 236 Atk Ponyta Flare Blitz vs. 148 HP / 140 Def Eviolite Lileep: 10-13 (40 - 52%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO Counters/Issues As shown just above this, its main problem are basically Ice Beam spams and Fighting/Steel pokes. Against Iron Heads and Drain Punches, theres not too much to be done with it. That is prolly its main weakness in the current meta. *Sprites credits go to pkparaiso.com
Goldeen (F) @ Choice Band Trait: Lightningrod EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Waterfall - Poison Jab - Megahorn - Drill Run shroomish inspired me to use goldeen :') so here comes the banded goldfish of doom. I dare you to send in chinchou on this beast. 252 Atk Choice Band Goldeen Drill Run vs. 0 HP / 52 Def Eviolite Chinchou: 18-22 (75 - 91.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Choice Band Goldeen Drill Run vs. 0 HP / 52 Def Eviolite Chinchou: 20-24 (83.3 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO 252+ Atk Choice Band Goldeen Poison Jab vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 12-16 (44.4 - 59.2%) -- 68.4% chance to 2HKO not bad at all :]
Magnemite @ Choice Scarf Level: 5 Trait: Sturdy EVs: 24 HP / 240 SAtk / 244 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Volt Switch - Flash Cannon - Hidden Power [Ground] Scarf Magnemite is still viable!
Drifloon (M) @ Berry Juice Trait: Unburden EVs: 196 Atk / 116 SAtk / 196 Spd Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef) - Acrobatics - Shadow Ball - Substitute - Destiny Bond/Will-o-wisp/Hypnosis YESH. On a side note you are more or less forced to run sub if you want to be anything close to successful ;-; SubCM is proooooobably better but AcroFloon is still viable with knock off support~
Pawniard (F) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Defiant EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 196 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Knock Off - Iron Head - Pursuit - Brick Break Misdreavus (M) @ Berry Juice Trait: Levitate EVs: 36 Def / 236 SAtk / 236 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Shadow Ball - Substitute - Nasty Plot - Dazzling Gleam Two really cool sets I've been using. Scarf Pawn is a huge surprise for many as they try to stay in with Missy/Krow. Pursuit is to trap a fleeing Missy. SubJuice Missy is p cool too as it can setup multiple subs with Berry Juice. Rest is p standard.
