Bad Blood Hello PO! Today I am here to show you my second RMT, Bad Blood. With Generation 6 being extremely close, I felt the need to post a OU team on the forums, since I’ve only made a NU RMT before. After POCL I was wondering what team I should RMT, since I used a different team every week. In the end, I decided to RMT a team I didn’t even use in POCL. One day, I wanted to build an offensive Rain team since some people were suggesting at the time that Rain was overpowered. Back then, I wasn’t a really great player, and I also wanted a team to use in the OU Smogon tour later that day, since I lost r1 the day before. That day I managed to get to Round 4, the round before semis, and I felt pretty proud. I used the team later on in the OU Subforum and in POT, where it only lost once (vs Fosco) and didn't lose in POT (I lost the 2 other battles with different teams). ZoroDark used this team vs gr8astard in Smogon Wcup, and if anybody cares to remember it was the battle in which ZoroDark choked immensely. I named this team after the new album of Bastille, which I’m liking a lot. I suggest everyone to give it a try! So let’s move onto the team! Spoiler This is what I started out with. I actually built the team around Mamoswine, since it’s an incredible cool looking pokemon and is severely underrated in today’s OU tier. I figured building a team around Mamoswine wasn’t gonna work, so I decided to use its amazing utility of eliminating Dragons + Landorus-I/T, Thundurus-T, Venusaur and other stuff. When looking for a partner in crime, it turned out that Keldeo benefitted a lot from Mamoswine’s utility, and it’s a great offensive pokemon on it’s own too. Keldeo can also switch into almost every Scizor (screw AcroZor) and deal somewhat with opposing Keldeo, both threats to Mamoswine When looking for things that could break through the core, Lati@s looked really annoying. AcroZor was also particularly threatening. Keldeo and Mamoswine also aren’t exactly pokemons that stay alive a whole game, so Wish support could be nice. For all the above stated reasons, Jirachi was added. Since Keldeo and Jirachi both like Rain, and Mamoswine doesn’t really dislike it I decided to fit it in here. I always had the idea of running an offensive Rain team and Politoed jumped in here. Ah Breloom. The pokemon I thought the longest about before adding it. As you may have seen, Ferrothorn was a bitch to the team. I also looked at a Rain Priority spam team from early B/W2 and Breloom seemed to form a nice combo with Mamoswine, and it definitely deserved its spot. Latias covered the last few flaws of the team while adding in a strong special attacker. It is one of my answers to sun and it also performs excellent against Rain. It’s my #1 Keldeo and Breloom check, and it can take on Fighting types in General really well. It adds in a valuable Ground immunity and is the glue of the team. And here, the final team was formed.[/HIDE] http://all0412.deviantart.com : link to the creator of the pic Oblivion (Breloom) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Technician EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Low Sweep - Mach Punch - Bullet Seed - Spore Breloom is my lead poke, for the sole reason everyone assumes it’s Sashed. If you get a good matchup you have something spored Turn 1, but other times you can trick your opponent in leading with something that can deal with SashLoom, while you lead with something else. Breloom is a great poke and it deserves all the usage it has. I added it in to have something that can kill bulky Waters and possible lure Latias or Latios, but it does so much more than that. It can make one poke completely worthless and kill one, two others. Spore is an amazing move, it’s basically a kill but sometimes even worse. Spore is also one of my ways to work around stall teams. Sporing an important defensive mon always gives me an advantage, so plan your Spore carefully. I’m using Low Sweep > Focus Punch since Focus Punch wasn’t really a thing when I made this team, and I prefer it to outspeed fast pokemon that come in. It’s also handy that you can use it even after you showed it, for example. in a 1v1 situation vs Scizor. Bullet Seed and Mach Punch are mandatory stuff, nice prio and a move that can hit an astounding 187.5 Base Power. Adamant Nature for the highest damage. Breloom forms a Prio attacking Combo with Mamoswine, since Mamoswine can hit Flyers and Breloom Steels etc. I think you understand. Anyway, I love Breloom, but I sincerely hate to face it. “When oblivion is calling out your name, You always take it further than I ever can.” Breloom puts pokemon in Oblivion with Spore, making them forget everything they stood for. Right after stealing their morals and dreams, he takes their lifes. link to creator: http://sureindragon.deviantart.com Daniel(Jirachi) @ Leftovers Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 32 SAtk / 224 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - U-turn - Wish - Thunder - Iron Head Jirachi is a staple on Rain teams, it can just deal with so much things it isn’t even funny. It’s really the glue of the team. I added in Jirachi since Lati@s looked troublesome with Breloom/Keldeo, and it stops it cold. It’s a great pivot and Thunder helps a lot with stupid Water types that threaten the team. It’s also a great way to weaken opposing Jellicents. Sassy Nature because everything gets Paralysed anyway, and I really didn’t want to weaken decrease it’s offenses. Wish + U-Turn is just amazing, healing Keldeo/Mamoswine/Breloom up for a second round is incredible. 32 Special Attack EVs to guarantee the 2HKO with Thunder on Defensive Politoed with SR. I could give Jirachi Stealth Rock and run Superpower on Mamoswine, since Jirachi is a more reliable Rocker than Mamo, but U-Turn is too handy to break Dnite’s Multiscale or grab momentum and it's great in combination with Wish. Protect is another option, but really, Jirachi can usually take enough hits to get healed up by Wish again. And when you're in trouble, go for the flinch! Ferrothorn works about the same as Jirachi, but you can lay extra hazards! Then why am I not doing that? Ferrothorn is really slow sometimes, you miss out on momentum with U-Turn, you can't heal your team with Wish and Ferrothorn gets burned in 9/10 of the battles I play, not even kidding. But it is a matter of preference though. " And for every king that died Oh they would crown another" I think it’s safe to say that Jirachi was the true king of OU this gen, but seeing how Gen 6 mechanics work it will not stay that way making this a valid nick! (there weren’t a lot of songs left ok???) link to creator: http://endless-whispers.deviantart.com Overjoyed (Politoed) (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Drizzle EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam - Psychic / Surf - Perish Song Ah Politoed. Hate him or love him, necessary he is on Rain teams. I’ll be honest here and say he’s the most worthless member of the team but he gets the job done. Scarf Politoed is not a great Scarfer, but nevertheless, a Scarfer so I don’t have to waste another poke to do that job. Psychic lets Politoed take on Toxicroak, a big threat to the team, but before I was using Surf and sometimes after missing an important Hydro Pump I like to switch back. But really you should be using Psychic, just showing Surf since it is the move I was running most of the time. Psychic also hits Tentacruel for decent damage, so it isn’t completely worthless. Hydro Pump and Ice Beam are mandatory, one being the STAB move of choice and the other the filler to hit Grass/Dragon types. Politoed outspeeds +1 Dragonite (unless Jolly lol) something ScarfTar can’t (and always annoyed me). Perish Song is a great move against Baton Pass and when set-up sweepers becoming realllyyyyyy dangerous. Tbh Politoed doesn’t do much for the team, but I find Scarf Politoed to be the best set since it fills in some rolls that are necessary on Rain teams, so I’m not someone who absolutely hates Politoed! "Oh I feel overjoyed When you listen to my words" Really there isn’t much to explain, I mean, just look at Politoed’s sprite. link to creator: http://anneuh.deviantart.com Bad Blood (Mamoswine) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Thick Fat EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock - Icicle Spear - Earthquake - Ice Shard Mamoswine, one of my favorite pokemons of all time <3. Look its bad ass design, it is just so cool. Mamoswine is a great pokemon in OU, just because so many pokemons are weak to Ice. Earthquake + Ice Shard are mandatory, the first being a strong STAB move while the second is the move that kills the Dragon types that are abundant in OU. Jolly for max Speed, so you outspeed Adamant Dragonite, Adamant Toxicroak and Breloom. It can take on close to all Dragon types, but be wary of Dragonite, it can kill Mamo on +2 with Espeed. Mamoswine also carries the oh so important Stealth Rock, keeping Volc, Gyara and Dragonite in check along with a lot of other things. Mamoswine isn’t the most reliable SRer, but I didn’t really have a lot of place left so it has to do the job! Mamoswine is blessed and cursed by its typing. Great offensive, bad defensive but the Electric immunity still helps the team a lot. I like Mamoswine, but it has mixed results. Mamoswine works really well the times you predict right, for example, Earthquake on Latias expecting a Keldeo/Scizor switch etc, but the fun thing is that most teams really don’t have a hard counter for Mamoswine. Mamoswine can wreck standard Rain teams, just with 2 moves. Honestly this thing needs more love since it can smash just about every Dragon/Thundy-T/Lando-T, and back in the day, Lando and maintaining the ability to get up Stealth Rock. Overall, Mamo is a great team player, even though he can’t switch into many pokes due to his bad defensive typing. "And I don't wanna hear about the bad blood anymore I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore" Not only is Bad Blood the name of the CD, it’s also the name of a song, which is kinda funny since I built the team around Mamoswine too! I think it’s obvious Mamoswine has Bad Blood, since Mammoths are extinct since a long, long time... link to creator: http://lagendarylugia.deviantart.com Icarus (Latias) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Draco Meteor - Surf - Psyshock - Roost Latias :D. Latias returned to OU this gen and that was very impactful. Latias acts as my pivot for Water/Grass/Electric attacks. It’s my main poke to take on Rotom-W, Keldeo and Tentacruel. Latias also limits Custap Skarm to one layer of hazards which this team greatly appreciates. EVs are for the maximum power, but I saw Luck>Skill complaining that Max/Max Latias is stupid, so if you have a better EV spread be sure to let me know! Latias fills in the role of pivot for this team. Draco Meteor is the Dragon STAB move of choice, Psyshock over Psychic since Special walls are annoying and Surf is the last attacking move which hits with pseudo-STAB in Rain. Roost is there to keep Latias throughout the game. Surf in Rain hits pretty damn hard, especially on Scizor/Offensive Jirachi who think they can easily walls Latias. Latias is a cool poke but also requires certain prediction with Tyranitar luring on every corner. It also needs to be in a good state of health to take on the things she’s supposed to take on, so playing careful is the message! After Lando-I's ban, I've found that Toxicroak can fill in Latias's role, even though they're 2 very different pokemon. It helps the team get rid of the dangerous Toxic Spikes (4/6 is affected) but Rotom-W becomes a lot more annoying, so it's advised to use it in combination of Ferrothorn > Jirachi. "Icarus is flying too close to the sun Icarus's life, it has only just begun It's just begun" The picture fits the nickname perfectly if you know the story behind it. I am learning Latin and I read a (simplified) Latin text about it and I found it to be very interesting! Mythes in general are pretty cool in my opinion. link to creator: http://salanchu.deviantart.com Laura Palmer (Keldeo) @ Choice Specs Trait: Justified EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Hidden Power [Ghost] - Hydro Pump - Secret Sword - Surf Here. Is. The. Monster. Keldeo looks very cute, but in fact it is one of the strongest pokes ( if not the strongest ) in OU. Choice Specs Keldeo has devestating power. Every pokemon in OU has a CHANCE to be 2HKOd by the appropriate move after SR. Bar Toxicroak. Toxicroak sucks. Hydro Pump + Surf since I don’t find Icy Wind to be very necessary and otherwise I would be having accuracy/PP issues. Secret Sword as Fighting STAB and HP Ghost mainly for Jellicent and Toxicroak but you also hit Celebi for about 2% extra. Keldeo is the wallbreaker of choice, since clearly, no walls can come in. The calcs below clearly show that. Keldeo is great mid-game or early game to get some kills early on, shifting the game in your favor. In the beginning, I had Specs Politoed and Scarf Keldeo. Smogon Tour was going to start in an hour, so I decided to ask Finchinator if he wanted to test the team with me.I got destroyed and asked for some advice, but he told me the team was just fine. Still not satisfied I decided to Specs Keldeo and Scarf Politoed, and it worked out much better. Another cool thing about Keldeo is that it is still pretty bulky with its 91/90/90 defenses. You can easily go tank a Scizor’s Bullet Punch or a Fire Blast from Heatran before forcing them out. Keldeo has great synergy with Jirachi so they can easily Wish Pass from the one to the other. If you get Keldeo in for a second run with Wish, your opponent will have a bad time. "This is your heart Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Pumps through your veins Can you feel it? Can you feel it?" Keldeo is named Laura Palmer because it’s really cute and Laura Palmer is a girl’s name so it fits somewhat. The lyrics are somewhat ironic, because yes, you can feel the pony. I used it in the No Hazards + Momentum moves challenge and I got easily to 1450 before I got bored. Shoutout to ZoroDark again for choking vs Gr8astard, let’s say it enough so he never forgets. Reserved for threatlist I don't have a detailed threat list yet, but major problems are Volcarona and Toxic Spikes. Gyarados is also problematic, but can be dealt with. Starmie is also really annoying.
Oh so this is why Fille and I haven't seen you for 3 days? xD Approving of the Bastille either way, I knew them before they got signed (Flaws <3) tho I think some of their stuff isn't so great (Pompeii) xD Interesting to see how our rain teams differ, but then again they're built in totally different ways. I can see that if mamo is taken out some dragons could really take advantage from that, but I think your team is fairy prediction heavy so as a good player that's something that can more than be gotten away with. Jirachi looks nice, it's a versatile poke anyway (and its best counter, Lando-I is now outta the meta) and can usually fulfil its job on any team, and in this case passing momentum and assisting sweepers, whilst taking out a couple of threats itself, it looks fit for purpose.
Hey nice team you have there. I'd use Encore over Surf on Politoed to check DD Gyarados, Dragonite with Multiscale and Sub Gengar. A fast Encore is always nice to have and it's unexpected. Volcarona is a threat but as long as you can paralyze it with Jirachi you should be fine. It doesn't get many setup opportunities against this team anyway. Starmie however is really annoying. I'd definitely go with Ferrothorn over Jirachi because you still wall Latios hard but you get a much more reliable hazard setter who also does better against Starmie and Gyarados. You could also run Scarf Keldeo instead of Specs so you get a late-game sweeper and revenge-killer for Volcarona and weakened Starmie but that's up to you. Aside from that the team looks solid, double priority is good, just make better use of Politoed. It has more potential than you think.
That's a poor suggestion really because it doesn't need to outspeed stuff it already does with specs, and it would rather have the higher firepower; it's not like it isn't bulky either. And toed is an alright scarfer.
First off, I would like to bring to your attention the fact that your current Importable has only five Pokemon in it. You should make sure to add Breloom into it, as it is the missing Pokemon. With that out of the way, let's discuss the actual team. This is a very good team and I see how it is successful. However, I have two possible revisions which could improve it. You current Jirachi set is Specially Defensive. You already have Latias, who is a special tank, that is psychic type, too. In my opinion, you should make Jirachi a Wish + Calm Mind Physically Defensive variant. This allows you to tank Dragon type attacks like Outrage easier and have an answer to common Physical attackers throughout the metagame. Spoiler Jirachi @ Leftovers Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Wish - Calm Mind - Thunder / Grass Knot - Flash Cannon / Psychic Next off, I am going to advise changing to Offensive CM Keldeo. It is pretty simple: set up on Pokemon you lure in, get a boost or two, sweep, and win. I feel that it would be an interesting change of pace on your team. Spoiler Keldeo @ Lum Berry / Fighting Gem Trait: Justified EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Hydro Pump / Surf - Secret Sword - Calm Mind - Hidden Power [Ghost] / Hidden Power [Bug] Nice RMT.
Yeah ok I choked pretty badly can we forget it now :( Anyway, this is a really cool and strong team. Physical fighting types in general and Toxicroak in particular are really dangerous because your only resist is pretty frail. You could try a Landorus-T over Mamoswine even though that removes one of the pokes you built around. Running a bulkier SubCM Latias might help as well, but I don't think it really fits this fast-paced team and it's such Pursuit bait. Finch's suggestion of Wish + CM Jirachi is probably the best possible change of them all since it also helps with the Gyarados problem a bit. Starmie and Volcarona will stay troublesome. Kyurem-B actually checks all of the mons in your threatlist but it doesn't really fit your team :/ Anyway, hope I helped a bit and good luck!
This is an excellent team. Breloom is the second best anti lead in the tier js. The team as a whole is pretty standard for a rain team, so there is very little to change. I prefer to run Dragon Pulse over Draco Meteor on max/max LO Lati@s since 90% of the time you get forced out after a Draco Meteor. You lose out on a decent amount of power and some KOs, but I prefer to not be forced out after using a dragon move. Specs toed is always an option, being the only toed with a decent amount of power, you lose out in beating +1 Dnite, but I think it makes up for it for the sheer amount of power you get on the max HP max special attack set. I'm biased against scarf toed. What you have is probably better though. Really good team man!
