Here's a bit of fun. The following list is a list of Pokémon in ranked stats order, the top 100. Spoiler Misdreavus Mienfoo Chinchou Murkrow Meditite Spritzee Pawniard Fletchling Timburr Porygon Magnemite Vullaby Abra Larvesta Foongus Drilbur Dwebble Onix Snubbull Scraggy Cubone Ponyta Riolu Zorua Frillish Staryu Tirtouga Lileep Croagunk Gastly Shieldon Slowpoke Tyrunt Elgyem Zigzagoon Honedge Bunnelby Natu Houndour Surskit Clamperl Solosis Rattata Skiddo Meowth Ekans Cottonee Mankey Munchlax Growlithe Archen Deerling Phantump Phanpy Carvanha Electrike Chespin Aipom Bronzor Baltoy Ferroseed Anorith Axew Remoraid Hippopotas Darumaka Gothita Vulpix Bulbasaur Swinub Binacle Litwick Goomy Buizel Litleo Trubbish Teddiursa Mantyke Wynaut Wooper Grimer Larvitar Sandshrew Cranidos Magby Fennekin Froakie Machop Trapinch Taillow Eevee Chimchar Pidove Starly Stunky Lickitung Drifloon Shellder Corphish Venipede At each line break (25, 50, 75) you could call that a difficulty level. The idea is to take the portion of the list you like (top 25, 50, 75 or 100) and randomise a team from it, it can be great fun. Here's a list randomiser. Take the top 6 from the randomised list for your team. Who knows, you might find something fun to use in real teams.
Did it. This is the team I ended up with: Solosis Bunnelby Shieldon Cottonee Honedge Skiddo God help me...
Scraggy Snubbull Murkrow Spritzee Frillish Vullaby Gotta love the 3 Dark Types. Anyways, this might turn out pretty interesting for a competitive team, I got enough Fairies and a Defogger for the 2 SR weak Pokes to make a good team. :] Weavile should make this a Forum Challenge IMO, but maybe make the system a bit more "fixed" if you get me haha. I accept your fun (well, challenge) Weavile. :3 Good luck everybody! :D
Missingno Staryu Croagunk Natu Lileep Honedge Gotta love that missingno :] Lileep, Croagunk and Staryu are great together too.
Wow, why the heck is Missingno in the top 50? Tyrunt Swinub Ferroseed Bunnelby Growlithe Bulbasaur Don't like how fire- and fighting-weak this is, but oh well.
Ah! Sorry. Removed it form the list, slightly easier use now! Ended up with Elgyem Zigzagoon Aipom Stunky Remoraid Pawniard Life's tough man.
I see the LC General Thread seems to be consumed with this randomizer so I apologize for coming in and stopping the streak of 6 Pokemon, but honestly I just want to give my half about LC and its current state right now. After DPP LC of HO vs. HO and no game past turn 20, and the creation of "Eo Stall" or w.e with TSpikes and Protect, Stall was so non-existent and LC wasn't the most enjoyable tier. BW gave us Eviolite and although people believed it was broken, people slowly came to the realization that it made different types of playstyles possible. All different types of offense were used, people even used semi-stall which was incredibly hard to run in DPP. And now XY has given us new Knock Off mechanics, 97.5 Base Power if there's an item. Knock Off was used in LC last gen, Mienfoo and Croagunk were the main users last gen, the 25 Base Power was changed to 65, and if the opponent had an item, the Base Power was changed to 97.5. Now you see Knock Off everywhere, and Pokemon who never ran it before are running it now because of the heavily improved Base Power. Timburr / Scraggy / Pawniard / Vullaby (Although it ran it in BW occasionally) / Occasional Archen / Lickitung / Tirtouga are new Pokemon who can all use it to great success this Generation. Whether it involves Timburr being able to 2hko Slowpoke depending on rolls and the tiniest bit of previous damage, or Pawniard causing havoc in LC with Knock Off, being able to Knock Off any Eviolite from its counters and being able to do a large amount of damage with Iron Head after the Eviolite is knocked off. Another important thing about Knock Off is that it does the same damage to an Eviolite Pokemon and a non-Eviolite Pokemon. So there's no drop-off of damage, and you will get the same damage output regardless of item. Spoiler 236+ Atk Pawniard Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 196 Def Eviolite Mienfoo: 5-6 (23.8 - 28.5%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO 236+ Atk Pawniard Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 196 Def Mienfoo: 5-6 (23.8 - 28.5%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO Just to prove a point~, also that's my favorite Mienfoo EV Spread this gen, helps me vs. Scraggy better (If Jolly Scraggy, but usually this Mien has a + Nature in Defense but that's not the point) With Knock Off being spammed everywhere, I find the tier highly unenjoyable at many times. Knock Off being spammed everywhere turns some of the bulkiest Pokemon in the metagame to Pokemon who are 2hko'd by many neutral hits, or just unable to counter the Pokemon they are supposed to. I know people share my thoughts, I wouldn't have posted this if I was unsure of people feeling the same way. Eviolite is a key part to LC being a playable and enjoyable tier. Without it, everything is 2hko'd by anything remotely strong and there is no playstyle, there is just offense. If Knock Off is suspected/banned, I believe that LC will improve greatly. Eviolite is an important part to LC, and I know Knock Off was a viable part of a few movesets of Pokemon last gen, but Knock Off has gotten out of hand. The tier is full of things that could possibly be suspected in the near future (Meditite, Murkrow, Berry Juice) but I think Knock Off definitely needs to be the first thing suspected. I'd like to hear more posts about it.
I'd be interested to see a Knock Off test ban. I'm not saying it's broken, but I agree with Based - I think LC will be better without it. I remember when Sand Stream was allowed in BW UU and that made the tier incredibly over centralised, and once it was banned UU was a much more enjoyable environment.
At this point im gonna just assume I'm the only person who wants knock off to stay... Course like weavile I prefer experimenting rather than theorymonning, so a suspect couldn't hurt. Problem is I can already feel that with the suspect, a bunch of people are gonna rally for banning it ;-;
Tyrunt gets Sturdy as HA (It's not released yet though) Spoiler What do you guys think about SturdyJuice + Dragon Dance Tyrunt?
Murk definitely merits a suspect but idk about meditite as it does have some decent checks in the tier (honedge, fairies etc)
It's not mimicking, what else is more broken other than those two mons atm. They break the meta even without BJ. Also we aren't a tier, we are a meta. Also no one has exploited the versatility of Meditite. Poison Jab and Fire punch are legit and you won't get hindered a whole lot.
To be completely honest, Meditite should not be suspected. Its moves are known and predictable and it can be easily dealt with some common Pokémon in Fletchling, Slowpoke, Wynaut.. And it can get revenge killed easily by Misdreavus, Murkrow etc.. I am not against a Murkrow suspect and I am expecting one soon because unlike Meditite it's really unpredictable (Will it be a Life Orb set? A Thief/Sub/Berry Juice set? A Calm Mind set?). I won't write a lot about Murkrow at this time, I'll probably wait until there's a suspect thread.
Lol Like said no one has exploited the versatility of Meditite. (Poison Jab / Rock side / Fire Punch / Thunder Punch / Batton Pass / Rock Tomb / HJK / Drain Punch / Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut / Fake Out / Bullet Punch / Ice Punch)
A Pokémon can only run four moves, mainly Meditite is Fake Out/Bullet Punch/Drain Punch (or HJK)/Zen or Psycho, and even if someone runs one of those moves you noted they'll end up either losing an important STAB attack or a priority move.
You don't need priority and you only need one stab. Most of the time a fake out is a free switching to stuff like Missy / Fletch. So that set is horrible. Yes it can run 4 moves, but you can't just ignore the fact it can run those moves. You won't win vs all Meditites unless everyone is brainless and runs that specific set.
So who else wants a misdreavus/murkrow/meditite suspect? c: Not like I really have to explain this? Murkrow breaks just about all walls (ALL if said wall gets knocked off or is under wonder room(lol)), meditite is strong af with ridiculous coverage and misdreavus is strong, fast and bulky. Missy also only has two resistances to its stab being dark/normal (granted common types but nothing a little HP fighting cant fix) a rather large selection of coverage and a multitude of sets to run. Not to mention fucking 40% usuage...
I would love a suspect on all 3. To be completely honest I kinda stopped playing LC because those 3 are on practically every team. They are way too good and the tier in it's entirety revolves around beating and using them.
I'm kind of killing two birds with one stone in this post, addressing both the recent suspect discussion and some thoughts on the tier itself. Murkrow: Spoiler Murkrow is probably the only one out of the big 3 that I would consider broken due to the minuscule amount of counters (if any) that exist for it in the tier. It sits in a very comfortable speed tier and has a diverse movepool and solid stats for LC standards to abuse such a movepool. One on One matchups between Murkrow and another Pokemon very often fall to a prediction game of whether Murkrow will Sucker Punch or not, especially if the Murkrow is being utilized as a late-game sweeper. The Dark/Flying coverage is difficult to effectively stop, especially with Heat Wave in the equation. It hits all of the top 50 used Pokemon at least in the tier for at least neutral damage, and very few Pokemon can switch into it without the fear of being killed, especially if their resources have been depleted earlier in the match due to Murkrow's role as a late-game sweeper. It is also a pest to effectively outspeed Murkrow. Ignoring Murkrow's solid speed stat, it has access to Sucker Punch, allowing it to strike scarfers and other normal priority users very hard with a STAB Life Orb variant of the move. Due to the lack of reliable Murkrow counters, its excellent stat distribution and extraordinary strength as a late-game sweeper, I think a ban is in order. Meditite: Spoiler After being on the fence for quite some time and giving it a whirl, my conclusion is that Meditite isn't quite broken in the tier at the moment. Someone raised a good point in the suspect discussion that Meditite does indeed suffer from 4MSS, and whilst players may have difficulty in trying to draw a firm conclusion on an opposing Meditite's moveset, it is nowhere near as deadly a late-game sweeper as Murkrow due to Medicham's significantly lesser speed, weaker priority moves and the fact that there are more Medicham checks and counters in the tier no matter its moveset than there are to Murkrow with Murkrow's standard moveset. With the split opinions on Medi, I think a vote wouldn't be the worst idea in the world either. Misdreavus: Spoiler I understand that Knock Off was recently test-banned and deemed to be not broken, but I think a Misdreavus test-ban would be both interesting and beneficial in order to gauge the change in gameplay in the metagame. The fact is at the moment, Misdreavus sits at the top of the usage with with over a 7% gap between it and #2, and also more than Magnemite, Porygon and Foongus combined (#10, #11 and #12). With close to half of all teams running Misdreavus, and due to its potency, others having to run specific counters to stop Misdreavus, I feel Misdreavus is worth either a testban or a suspect due to the tier revolving around both it and its counters/checks. Little bit rusty on suspect posting as I haven't posted many thoughts on XY at all, but I have been playing a lot of LC recently, and those are my two cents.
I think a bigger problem right now than murk and medi is how many people are actually playing LC. The ladder is literally dead, and I think maybe its time for a sub forum tour or something. Anything to get the tier back alive and more competitive.
I thought I said this but Mylo and I will be hosting a teambats in early July when both our exams end. It'll be also a perfect time to gather people since a lot of people have already ended their studies and can be active except if they're on vacancies, I'll post here if there is anything new about the teambats once Mylo and I see eachother!
I'm glad Misdreavus has been banned. That should make the tier much more diverse. True there will always be generic teams, but Misdreavus was just way too splashable.
Gastly is p cool, so its great that its getting some spotlight. 19 sp atk w/ lo is no joke esp with strong stabs like sball/sludge. Sub + 3 atks / Sub + Hypnosis / Trick / Sub disable are all great gastly sets. Zigzagoon + memento is starting to become common, but many rock types/steel can still give it a hard time. Another downside is how limited TB is when you support Ziggy. I really like the meta atm and it's pretty varied rn.
Shamelessly stolen off you-know-where:http://pastebin.com/8rbu6Fmp So how about those tutors? Got some kool stuff like knock off/drain punch pancham, hyper voice/Earth power amaura and synthesis pumpkin (and yet no knock off bunny ;;) Especially can't wait to get my hands on amaura~ no longer will I need to be salty about Snow warning not being released :3
Just posting saying gothita isn't the same as diglett. They have similar roles, but gothita is allowed to trap more and consistent because of it's movepool. I don't think the standard is to run pursuit trap on every team (if it is I wouldn't say that's a good thing), and what fitzy said after it traps like foongus, slowpoke, archen, chinchou, criples other walls, etc cores are broken meaning any offense the other team just got a hell of a lot better. Sad to see how the suspect ended.
So anyone having any thoughts about Berry Juice? I'd love to see it limited to one per team max because that item is stupid. Especially considering things like Sturdy users, Recycle Magnemite, etc., it essentially means to have to KO, or come really close to KO'ing a Pokemon twice. With multiple mons I believe that is just stupid.
Personally, I don't see the need to put a restriction on Berry Juice. Knock Off is everywhere, and puts a stop to it barring Pokemon with Sticky Hold. If you don't have a Knock Off user handy, it also is pretty easy to play around by getting some chip damage before going for the KO. Stealth Rock/Spikes are pretty common and can break Sturdy for Sturdy Juicers.
Cricket cricket..... is there like a tier leader for this or something? Cause Contrary Snivy is a different kind of monster in this tier. I think it's a bit overwhelming
I personally don't due to its extreme lack of coverage. Leaf Storm + HP [whatever] is its best option. I'd like to suggest we just follow smogon lc tier list. Until we have an actual community for this tier, we can't do anything.
yo so I just got back after not playing for two years, I need a life coach little cup coach so I can get back in the game
I peaked at no.1 on Showdown (you don't have to wait 20 minutes for an LC match there) so I could help you.
PO's LC banlist is as follows: Banned Pokémon: Scyther, Tangela, Sneasel, Gligar, Yanma, Swirlix, Murkrow, Meditite , Misdreavus Banned Moves: Sonic Boom, Dragon Rage, Swagger I haven't played Smogon LC in a long time, so I'm not sure if anything has changed, but I think the only difference is that Gothita is not banned on PO.
