Hello PO friends, it's me, phucvn with another RMT at the end of gen 5. Now, this is one of the few teams of mine that dont suck, so yeah I'm quite proud of it. It's just another heavy rain offensive team, but it uses many surprising sets that I really like, so I guess that's what makes it different Spoiler Not that it matters, but the only reason I built this team and laddered like crazy is because I realised a girl, on whom I have a crush for 4 years -_-, decided to friendzone me. It feels like crap right now -_-.[/HIDE] Peak: #1 in PO2 lol :v. Of course that didn't prove anything but well... The Team Politoed (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Drizzle EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Scald - Toxic - Encore - Perish Song Politoed is pretty stable on any rain teams, so its appearance shouldn't be a surprise. I opted for a Defensive set cuz I wanted the team to have some defensive backbone to rely on, and overall defensive toed offers more utility for this team. The EVs are pretty standard, with 8 Speed EVs to creep on those taunt Jellicent and Toxic them first -_- The rest are self-explanatory. Scald is a cool STAB move that offers a nice chance to burn, Toxic to cripple Ninetale, Hippo and Jelly. Both Encore and Perish song are used to counter Baton pass, which is surprisingly common on high ladder, with guys like 90 and Japen Zings pulling them off.(both failed btw -_-) Landorus (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - U-turn - Hidden Power [Ice] Next I wanted something to carry SR, as well as checking some threats that can run thru the team. Landorus-T fits the slot pretty well, as he can set up Stealth Rocks as well as check Breloom, Terrakion and Garchomp. This set was taken off Smogon so it shouldnt be difficult to understand. EVs are there to outpace Jolly Breloom and anything under, while still maintaining the bulk in conjunction with Intimidate. SR is well, SR. EQ offers a cool STAb that hits darn hard even with 0 attack investment. U-turn is a utility move that helps me pick up momentum, while HP Ice is to hurt stuffs that Lando walls, such as garchomp, Gliscor and opposing Lando. Kyurem (Kyurem-B) @ Leftovers Trait: Teravolt EVs: 108 Atk / 252 SAtk / 148 Spd Mild Nature (+SAtk, -Def) - Substitute - Fusion Bolt - Ice Beam - Earth Power This thing is a MONSTER. Litterately, this thing is by far the best wall breaker there is in OU. With Ubers attacking stats, acceptable typing -_-, and a decent movepool, Kyurem-Boss has everything he needs to bring stall to their knees. Now, I kinda modified it a little so I'll expailn it right here. 148 Speed is to outpace Jolly Breloom. maximize SpAttack since it's the weaker offensive stats, while the rest are thrown into attack to reach that of a fully invested Adamant Dragonite. Mild Nature is chosen so that it walls Starmie and Rotom-W, as well as some other attackers that can't hit it Super Effectively. Besides, what's the point of running Defense when you're weak to Close Combat -_-. The moveset should be easy to understand. Substitute is the main move here, shielding our vunerable dragon from revengers and status, allowing it to fulfil its role. It usually sets up on Starmie and Rotom, both of which can't do too much anyway. Ice beam is the STAB of choice here, since it 3HKOs some Ferrothorn and do huge damage to anything not super-bulky. Earth Power and Fusion Bolt 2HKOs Jelly and Jirachi, respectively, which aids it in stall-breaking. Oh. and since Kyurem is too much of a boss, he doesn't give shits. IDGAF if your Dragonite is at full HP, Kyurem OHKOs regardless; IDGAF if your washing machine Levitates, Kyurem's Earth Power will strike it; IDGAF if your Donphan/level 1 Aron is at full health, if Kyu says they go down, they go the hell down; finally, IDGAF how your Shedinja walls Kyogre in Ubers, down here you just can't fuck with Kyu when you have 1 HP. Really, just don't. Feraligatr (M) @ Splash Plate Trait: Torrent EVs: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Waterfall - Earthquake - Aqua Jet Yes, it's that Feraligatr we chose back in Gold and Silver. Who would have thought that this thing will eventually be the best Rain physical attacker. Really tho, Gatr simply hits harder than anyone of us thought it would. And since OU lacks a real Rain abusing physical powerhouse, Gatr became a stable. Moveset is pretty standard imo. 76 speed to outpace the "more standard" Gatr, which is always nice. Sphash Plate cuz Mystic Water too mainstream -_-. The rest should be simple. SD to double his attacks, Waterfall to nuke people when fully boosted, EQ to hit Ferro, Jelly and Toxicroak, and Aqua Jet is for priority. Overall, this thing is simply a beast, but it's nowhere near the monster i'll describe later... Jirachi @ Choice Scarf Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Iron Head - Ice Punch - Healing Wish - U-turn Another pretty cool Pokemon that I really like. Jirachi is like a glue to the team, since everything falls a part without him. He provides a Dragon resist, a revenger, and overall more cuteness -_-. The set itself should be popular by now, but I'll explain it anyway. 96 speed to outpace Adamant Dragonite, which is the only thing it has to. Moves are quite simple as well. Iron Head is for STAB and haxing, while Ice Punch is mainly for revenge killing. The 20% freeze chance comes handy tho. U-turn is to scout for momentum and escape Magnezone, while Healing Wish is to revive a teammate in a pinch, which won me some really crucial games Keldeo (Keldeo-R) @ Choice Specs Trait: Justified EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Secret Sword - Surf - Hydro Pump - Hidden Power [Ghost] And finally, the star of the team. Imo this thing is not getting as much love as he deserves. (Much like myself -_-). Keldeo boasts the highest Special Attack of all water types in OU, which means this set is by far THE MOST POWERFUL ATTACKER IN OU. The power surpasses Kyurem-B's Choice Band set in the rain, meaning nothing will want to switch into this monster. Even Chansey takes 40% from a rain-boosted Hydro Pump, which is a 2HKO after 2 SR damages. Since Hydro Pump is so nuky, the rest is almost fillers. Surf is there for situations that I can't afford to miss. Secret Swords is there to flat-out OHKO Chansey, while hitting stuffs like Tyranitar better outside of rain. HP Ghost is there to nail Jelly, Celebi and Lati@s on the switch, allowing a 2HKO on most of them. Underestimate this thing at your peril, for you will be drowned by the walking flood that is Keldeo. Conclusion So yeah, this is my best team so far that I'm happy to share with you guys. Rate it and plz tell me what u think :) Importables Spoiler Politoed (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Drizzle EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Scald - Toxic - Encore - Perish Song Landorus (Landorus-T) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - U-turn - Hidden Power [Ice] Kyurem (Kyurem-B) @ Leftovers Trait: Teravolt EVs: 108 Atk / 252 SAtk / 148 Spd Mild Nature (+SAtk, -Def) - Substitute - Fusion Bolt - Ice Beam - Earth Power Jirachi @ Choice Scarf Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Iron Head - Ice Punch - Healing Wish - U-turn Feraligatr (M) @ Splash Plate Trait: Torrent EVs: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Waterfall - Earthquake - Aqua Jet Keldeo (Keldeo-R) @ Choice Specs Trait: Justified EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Secret Sword - Surf - Hydro Pump - Hidden Power [Ghost][/HIDE]
I like the team, and feeling the love for Keldeo, though I rather its expert belt set, but specs works for this team. No obvious flaws from here, and some well-made original sets. Lati@s particularly specs sets could cause trouble with this team if rachi is out, and even still they can deal heavy damage to rachi themselves. Ample use of the -__- face. Seriously not a bad team tho
Hey nice team kyoi you should probably switch Keldeo for SD/Bulk Up Toxicroak though, since I can see opposing Keldeo's (especially specs) doing a lot of damage to this team.
Thnx for the rate guys -_- @pie Lati@s can be troubling sometimes, but unless they get off a rain-surf or crit DM they should always lose to Jirachi. Besides, I always find myself in a position to sac something useless and bring in rachi anyway :v @emvee Croak is pretty neat -_- tho replacing Keldeo leaves the team without a reliable spAttacker. I'll try removing Rem or Gatr instead :v
