Alright. This is my first RMT or whatever these thingys are called. I used to be into competitive play around 2007-2009, but I fell out. Now coming back in, I decided to stick to something very similar to what I had before. A sand balanced team. This is not the most original team ever - in fact I'm more than sure you can find one online that is pretty close to this one. Nonetheless, here it is. Any suggestions on a replacement for Jirachi is appreciated, as it will be losing its strength against Gengar come X and Y. As said before, this is my first, so I don't know how to make it fancy with the Pokemon Gifs or the exportable so bear with me please. I just want the team rated, not an award for greatest art gallery. Reptar (Tyranitar) (M) @Leftovers 252 HP/196 SpATK/60 Spd Quiet Nature Stealth Rock Fire Blast Ice Beam Roar My main leader. I played Special Tyranitar back in the day to deal with Skarmory, and it has proven to be so great for this team to deal with Ferrothorn. This team never really minded Spikes or Stealth Rock, but it's nice to not have to worry about it. Leftovers because it would need to last against anything that sets a constant weather mood. Roar has proven to be so great in place of Crunch or Pursuit because it will ruin any attempt that they have of switching in to kill Tyranitar (Once that I see that there is no opposing weather threat he is pretty expendable) while eating away at them with Stealth Rock. Ice Beam for more coverage in general. I wouldn't play Scarf or Band because it does nothing for this team. Jabberjaw (Garchomp) (M) @Leftovers 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 Def Jolly Nature Substitute Swords Dance Earthquake Outrage Did someone say Revenge? With your almost typical bread-and-butter setup, Garchomp ties with Sigilyph for most rarely seen team member. He pops in and out, cleaning up whatever killed the last team member. Since the Ubering of Sand Veil, I find Jolly + Leftovers to be better for me in the long run, because he's decently bulky, save for Ice moves. Great switch in, it'll put pressure on your opponent. With the exception of Scizor, Tyranitar usually deals with all steel-type threats and anything popular that flies or has Levitate is usually child's play for Gliscor, so Outrage is always a very reliable switch in. It's also great because when they see me switch in and outspeed them with Outrage, they'll think that I'm playing Scarf so they'll switch into something that can set up. They get shocked and pull it back out when they see SubDance. Probably my favorite dragon in OU. Isis (Sigilyph) (F) @Flame Orb 232 HP/80 Def/140 SpDef Bold Nature Psycho Shift Cosmic Power Roost Stored Power Back in Gen 4 this used to be Spiritomb. I got the idea of this from a friend, so I have no clue if this is a "typical" setup for this or if it's "commonplace" on a team like this. I can see why you'd think it isn't very good, but it's great. It's amazing to take stress off of Tyranitar if you're against a rain team and they play Conkeldurr. After one Cosmic Power you can take a non crit Ice Punch and then Roost yourself back up. It's very easy to get too greedy off of Cosmic Power, so be advised. Stored Power will sweep almost the whole team if you have 3 or more Cosmic on board. I learned that (sorry if this is old news, again still getting my feet back up on returning) Flame Orb locking in a status will prevent it from getting another, as well as its ability keeping it safe from said Flame Orb. It's also wonderful for Psycho Shift because I can get a burn on problem Pokemon to lighten the load for the rest of my guys. Probably going to replace if I find something more promising from Gen 6. Washee (Rotom-W) @Leftovers 230 HP/44 Def/236 SpDef Modest Nature Will-O-Wisp Volt Switch Hydro Pump Pain Split In the Gen 4 days, this was Swampert. When I came back in (and finished laughing that Rotom turned itself into a lawnmower, fridge, oven and washing machine) and saw the moveset it got, I praised the heavens. Playing around with the EVs showed that he gets into the 300s for Special Defense, so I wanted to go with that setup. Will-O-Wisp is obvious. Volt Switch is because I like using him sparingly because he is a very good switch in to almost anything, Hydro Pump is dead obvious, Pain Split over HP Ice personally because it promotes longevity. I want the opponent to be annoyed that they cannot rid themselves of this thing. He's also the only thing that can truly not mind Ice hits on this team, a very important thing to cover. We have a small hole in Ice, but this and Jirachi sew that hole right up. Quasar (Jirachi) @Leftovers 252 HP/236 SpDef/20 Spd Careful Nature Body Slam Iron Head Protect Wish I was always so proud of having a legitimate Jirachi that I worked it into everything. Typical setup I suppose. I dropped Psychic in favor of Protect to scout for things. Body Slam to get a good Paralyze going because I'm trying to protect myself from whatever I'm battling, Wish to stall, Iron Head is STAB. Amazing for general walling or type coverage. A real big sadface, cause this baby is taking a hit right in the butt on October 12th when he doesn't resist Ghost and Dark anymore. I would like to find a good enough replacement for this ASAP so I'm not left in the dark. Pun intended. The Count (Gliscor) (M) @Toxic Orb 200 HP/252 Def/56 Atk Impish Nature Taunt Swords Dance Ice Fang Earthquake Ah, Gliscor. The times we've had together. I like to call him "Stupid Man's Undertaker" because allowing him to set up even one Swords Dance will surely spell the end of any team. He is best friends with the likes of Blissey, Hippowdon or any other staller because he can Swords Dance and then sweep. The diversity in the moves Ice Fang and Earthquake can rip an entire team. He is my favorite late game sweeper. Taunt is if guys like Blissey get really annoying. EV spread is to take full advantage of his godlike Physical Defense, as you should. Gen 4 left me playing Sand Veil, and it still isn't bad but now that he has Poison Heal, it's too good to not play the Toxic Orb. You're gonna want to pull him out at the first sign of Ice Punch, because he can only eat one of those usually. That about wraps up this RMT. I cannot devise a threat list because I haven't found any one pokemon that is definitely GG against this team. I'm sure there are a couple out there, but none are immediately enough to worry about right off of the bat. Defiant Landorus was something at one point, but since he went Uber, my guys can breathe easier. Be nice on the suggestions, and be helpful. Thank you, and I am looking forward to seeing what you can come up with. Edit: Importable! This is a very solid team. You need pictures for every pokemon and an importable though. /importable on the server will get you your importable. just use the
How do I do that? I can't enter more than 5 pictures per post, and there's six pokemon. and do I type /importable and then just type whatever I need to type and end with /importable? sorry, but I'm very new to this and can't find this information anywhere.
First off the team looks solid but there are some small things that I've noticed. -Change Quiet on Tyranitar to Modest, no reason to waste Speed EVs when you have no Physical Attacks. Also move those Speed EVs to Special Attack or add 16 more EVs to Speed to outrun Uninvested Base 70's - The Rotom set you have is wasting EVs you can hit the same numbers of SpDef Def and SpAtk with this set, not to mention that this leaves you with 16 EVs Extra which I would put in HP. i think that you're team would make better use of Thunder Wave by getting free turns to set up Subs with Garchomp or Sword Dances with Gliscor It would stop some pokes such as Keldeo from outrunning Gliscor Too; allowing for Cleaner sweeps Rotom-W @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 228 HP / 44 Def / 96 SAtk / 124 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Volt Switch - Hydro Pump - Thunder Wave - Pain Split Aside from that I noticed a big Victreebel weakness after Tyranitar and/or Sigilyph are gone. Being able to do massive damage to your team. Getting a OHKO on Garchomp and Gliscor with HP Ice. I think Solar Beam gets a OHKO on Rotom-W and Weather Ball in Sun Either OHKO's or 2HKO's Jirachi
I took the 16 out of HP and put it in Speed. Also, I tested Thunder Wave. It saw ups and downs for me. It made it easier to set up, but didn't do much good against things that were hard to beat. I'll continue testing it out when I get more time to play. Appreciate the suggestion!
Great team! At a quick glance, the only thing that I'd change is Salac Berry > Leftovers on Chomp. Make sure it's HP is divisible by 4, so it activates after 3 Subs. This'll greatly increase its sweeping potential. Your Ttar set looks a bit odd, but if it works it works. Hope I helped and good luck!
Hi looks a lot like this team from super early BW1. http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/solums-core.103994/ But ya if you don't have rocks up and chomp is weakened a little bit volcarona will wreck you. It can setup on sigilyph and probably rotom-w if they were a little cheeky. roar on ttar helps but it's still not going to kill it and bug buzz will hurt. your defensive core is already weak to sun but tyranitar helps with that i guess. also rain offense wrecks you. specifically keldeo. it's faster than everything on your team and rotom-w is your only water resist and it can't take too many specs/lo hits. and sub disable gengar is probably really annoying to face since it hard counters literately 2/3 of your team and not having pursuit on ttar really makes it that much easier for gengar is do work.
This team is pretty similar to KGs team that the last poster linked, but whatever. Regardless, it is a pretty solid team. I would use Bulky SubCM Latias over Siglyph and Chesto Resto SDef Rotom-W over your current set. However, they both work decently how they are now (Sigilyph and the Rotom-w set.) If you are to take these suggestions, maybe using Rock Slide over Roar and adding SDef to Tyranitar to kind of check Volcarona. Also, the Latias solves the Keldeo issue, to an extent. Good luck, cool team. Spoiler Sets: Latias (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Dragon Pulse - Substitute - Roost - Calm Mind Note: The EVs outspeed everything slower than + Speed base 80s. A few examples are: Dragonite, Mamoswine, Venusaur outside of sun, adamant Lucario, Heatran, Toxicroak, Breloom, and Politoed. Rotom-W @ Chesto Berry Trait: Levitate EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Hydro Pump - Volt Switch - Will-O-Wisp - Rest
Sigilyph is definitely the weak link of this team. I'd replace it for CM Reuniclus, which is a lot tougher for any team to beat in general. You also lack something to clean up opponent teams during late-game, so I suggest using Scarf Garchomp (as you already have Gliscor as an SD Sweeper).
