Note: Only one day left until the competition starts! Sign up now if you haven't already! Due to Popular Demand, we will increase the amount of teams to 6 (if we can get another captain). We are looking for ONE strong candidate to help lead a team. The requirement for this is that you must be able to know how to code. Yo, people of Mafia and welcome to the sign-up thread for the second Theme Creation Competition. The goals of this competition are to inspire teamwork within the Mafia community, promote theme coding (in new and experienced coders alike), spark a little competition and excitement which seems to be lacking of late, and hopefully add some new themes to the server. All server and forum rules apply to all parts of this competition. Yes, we want you to get excited and be competitive, but not to the point of being jerks or trying to cheat. How the Competition will work: You have until September 30th to sign-up on this thread. You will be split up into four equal teams each captained by a QC or MA and will then have one month (Oct. 1- Nov. 1) to create and code a complete Mafia theme for the server. At the end of the coding period, all four themes will be loaded onto the server for one week. They will be played, judged, and hopefully enjoyed, by the members of the Mafia community. After that week, an anonymous poll will open in the Mafia forum in which everyone can vote on their favorite theme from the competition. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR YOUR OWN THEME. Your vote will not count if it is cast for your theme. The winning theme will be uploaded to the server and considered "Accepted" (at the discretion of the hosts). In the rare event of a tie, there will be a tie breaker to determine the winner. As a runner-up prize to the loser of the tie breaker, their theme will receive and automatic Two (2) Approves in review. This prize can also be awarded to any theme that meets the current standard of the channel (at the discretion of the hosts). A private channel has been created for each team. You can use it to collaborate with your teammates. Fuzzy and I will have access to these channels at all times so we can monitor your progress and address any concerns you may have. Unlike in the last Theme Competition, Fuzzy and I have thrown in a twist for this year's theme submissions. Each team will receive a list of nine "conditions," broken up into three blocks of three. Each team will have to choose at least five of their nine conditions for which their theme must meet before being considered a complete theme. More info on this will be given once the teams are formed. To make sure teams aren't doing their theme the night before, we will request a progress report containing your plans and/or coding every "Monday" during the event (Oct. 7, Oct. 14, Oct. 21, Oct. 28). These reports will help make sure you guys are staying on track and producing a theme with acceptable quality. The result of these progress reports will not be held against you in any way, its purely for your benefit. Requirements for all themes: -Must follow the usual theme guidelines. -The theme must have a 35-40 player cap. -The theme must be Error Free in RiceKirby's theme checker. -The theme must contain at least five of the required conditions, including one from each of the three blocks. (more later) To join, please complete the form below and post it to this thread (Note: You are not required to know how to code to join. There are many other ways in which you can contribute to a theme and I'm sure that if you're willing to learn to code, your Captain will help you). You must, however, be contributing in some way. If your Captain feels that you are not contributing or even trying to, you may be replaced/removed from your team. Good luck, everyone! Server Name: Timezone: Can you code Mafia themes? Sheath Knight/Grey Mage G.C./DraquusDiscord (it depends) Central I have tried to code (cough i will never speak of it again) but I'm fully of ideas.
Server Name: ajhockeystar Timezone: EST (-5) Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Yup, I coded Region Wars a while back, haven't done any coding since. I could probably learn the new fancy commands if I wanted to.
Server Name: MewtwoHidden Timezone: GMT -6 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Yes, alot of it
I am leading a group and there is nothing you can do to stop me. :P Beast EST -5 GMT I have coded like 8 themes or more.
Server Name: Obey to Kyubey , Shaz or Batnana. Timezone: GMT +2 Italy. Can you code Mafia themes?: I've created Trust that is actually in the top 5 most played mafia games lately and Chrono Trigger in the under 50 most played mafia games Ehm! But this is not important!! Anyway i agree with Mr. Pink chubby all eating ball made of ice : about giving a flavour condition for every block, obviously not a too precise condition like : make a theme about Robin Hood but instead a more large condition like make a theme about medieval legends.
Server Name: Silone Timezone: GMT -6 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Yes and 2-3 months of experience. what the heck I can code!
server name: Angel Flonne timezone: GMT+8 I've coded like so many themes, so yeah Hi I'm conspirator I win with anyone but the werewolves Besides that, I'm good at flavor and role making
Server Name: Betato/Sir Betato Timezone: GMT +8 ph Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I Somehow do.. or yes in short, I coded some themes and Toys that is for testing now. But it really isn't important since people should know what coding should be.
WITHDRAWING APPLICATION. I JUST REALIZED THAT I WILL BE AWAY FOR HALF THE COMPETITION. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED Server Name: Epikhairz0603 Timezone: GMT -7 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I've just begun learning to code, so I can at an extremely basic level that will probably need checking by an experienced teammate. Also, I have a bunch of theme ideas in Critique so I guess my team can use any as a basis if they wish to :x Beast where is ur sense of humor ;~;
Server Name: Withoutatrace Timezone: GMT - 6(Central) Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I have basic computer science experience, so that kind of encompasses the basic aspects of coding in general.
Server Name: Matt Ayala, sometimes Bullet of Truth Timezone: GMT - 5 (Eastern Central Time) Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience? I've coded tons of original themes but only 2 showed up in Mafia Review (the others were from other authors) edit: I oppose this nearly entirely. What if all the themes are just rubbish? Regardless one of these themes is going to be insta-approved, and that is something I fear is bad for the community because it doesn't allow for openness and critique before it's officially submitted. However if it were to be submitted into Mafia Review, this could lead to rival mafia admins refusing to Accept or decline altogether (or not touch the theme, since they all head it). Of course, this isn't likely, but keep in mind it could happen. just my two cents
Magnamon Pacific Standard (-7) I have never coded a theme in my life, but the main way I familiarize myself with just about any new theme is to read the /themeinfo. I have a very crude understanding of how its done.
Apparently it's in the fine print of my contract that I join this contest Server Name: Human Destroyer Timezone: bEST (because bEDT sounds dumb) Can you code Mafia Themes? If so answer another question!: yes and I am a super awesome coder and have no creativity so if I could just like code the thing that would be great :>
Server Name: Princess Luna Timezone:GMT +0 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Nope though i am learning to program at College currently so give me a few months and i should be able to do basic shiz for now though i'm the ideas girl and the experienced mafian
Server name: Joeypals Timezone: GMT -5 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I cannot, however I've been trying to help in the creative process of making themes.
Server Name: Lucario_3 Timezone: Central (-5) Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Somewhat, I can do basic stuff like roles.
Server Name: HarisKun Timezone: GMT +7 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: too bad i can't e~e
Server Name: Hopkirk Timezone: Gmt+0 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Not really
Server Name: Rentorar Timezone: GMT +0 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I've a good understanding of how it's done, and have tried making a basic theme myself. Never plucked up the courage to put it up for review, though. So.. Maybe.
Name: Who do you think? :x Timezone: -5 Exp: I Can Snipe out errors, and do very minor coding, like basics or adding a simple command (Yes, I've done a Theme before [I'll be tweaking and re-adding it up for QC soon])
Server Name: Brightside Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (I think it's like +5 idk) Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Yes. Very minimal lmao.
Server Name: Milost Timezone: GMT -8 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: Nay, I've never gotten farther than the roles list.

Guess I'll join, I should have enough time next month. Server Name: TheUnknownOne Timezone: GMT + 1 Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: ~3 years of experience with JS (and recently started learning CS), coded a few themes before, author of the original mafia theme documentation. I haven't really checked out the new features, and I'll definitely be a bit rusty, so don't expect too much out of me.
Server Name: Fiery Espeon/Fiery Espy Timezone: GMT -5/EST Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I can code themes as in write it out in Notepad so yes I can. But, I will do mistakes when coding and RiceKirby's theme checker helps a lot so...
Server name: Karp Karpity/Meatshielder Timezone: GMT-8/Alaska or UTC Can you code Mafia themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I can code themes, made 5 or 6. I use notepad a lot, so idk... I will use Jsonlint and rices mafia checker..
Server Name: Windblown Timezone: GMT-8/7 fuk DST Can you code Mafia Themes? If yes, with what level of experience?: I coded LOTR (which is just in testing) albeit with a fair amount of help from Roild, so I guess kind of? That probably doesn't qualify me to be a captain but if I don't have to be the one coding it I could act as a leader and coordinator.
PM either Solace or I on the server to sign up, or sign up in http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/showthread.php?22489-Theme-Creation-Competition-2!-Coding-Phase ! Good luck to all!
