Those exclamation marks. She must be real mad!!!!!
Damn though that's pretty horrific, even if they're "not entitled to special treatment" you don't send shit like that to anyone unless you're worthless scum. It's reassuring to know that that kid will probably end up more socially adept than her children!

While if a kid is being a problem and a public nuisance, I can agree with some of the sentiment, things like "Crying babies, music and even barking dogs are normal sounds . . . he is not," [If you can put up with the first three, you should be able to stand the last] and "they should take whatever non retard body parts he possesses and donate them to science" [LOL, implying body parts can be retarded] show that the person is just an idiot.

To add on to that, it is nice to know a child making noise in a neighborhood is not a common occurrence. Yes, because most neighborhoods forbid you from having children that make noise; God forbid.

I just recently listened to the News Report about this, and come to think of it the same thing happened around where I live as well. Someone had a problem with a child being mentally handicapped and decided to deem them a 'nuisance' and give the family shit to no end. I just can't respect people like that.

I just feel awful looking at the letter, from someone who wants to work with special needs children and who's little brother is mentally handicapped, this is sick. I don't really have much words for this, there are always going to be people like this, that's a given. But I hope letters like this can maybe inspire people to possibly major in Special Education or work with special needs children. Residential houses, schools, etc.

I hope this makes more people major in any sort of field in Special Education, it'll turn this letter into a good thing and make a fool of the women who wrote this.

That is disgusting. Sad to see some of Hitler's legacy is still out there (before the holocaust he often "euthanised" severely disabled children). I hate people like that. I have mild Asperger Syndrome myself, and I've had to put up with my fair share of shit but nothing like that. It's nice to see the people in the neighbourhood banding together at the end of that newsflash.

I understand where the author of the letter is coming from; and I agree that they should try to control the child if he really is that obnoxious but what she's saying other than that is totally just ignorant and spiteful. Yes, they should look into a way to get him to be quiet if it's necessary but "wild animal kid"? Euthanize him? That is too far. Now, if I were the recipient of this letter I would move elsewhere anyway because I wouldn't want to deal with this type of person, but... I don't know. It's sad.

It's one thing to complain about neighbors, it's another thing to be purely hateful about it. As a person with Aspergers, I am rather disappointed with this "mother", treating the kid as if he were an animal. If they really had a problem, why not just talk about it in a calm, proper manner? The way the letter was written was unnecessary, especially with the amount of punctuation they used and the use of the word "euthanize".

Pretty shitty person, pardon my french. And this person might be worse than how Petunia Dursley was to Harry Potter. You just don't say this kind of stuff to someone. It's like kicking them in their weakest spot. Unnecessarily.

"Petunia and Lily didn't have a good relationship growing up because Petunia was jealous of her sister's magic. Although she didn't treat Harry well, she pauses at the door as if to say something to him on the night that the two part ways. Rowling has revealed that if Petunia had spoken, she would have said “ I do know what you’re up against and I hope it’s okay.”

The three Dursleys were thought to be regular, Harry-disliking muggles until the fifth book. Once Dudley has been exposed to the effects of the dementors, Petunia shows knowledge of the creatures, Azkaban, and receives a Howler from someone in the wizarding world. In the seventh book, Harry sends his relatives to safety before the protection of the blood wards fades. Dudley wishes him well while Petunia hesitates. Though she did neglect Harry throughout his life, this proves that blood does matter to her and she would have wished her nephew luck on his harrowing quest.*"

Just for some notes about your reference.

Yowch, not even commenting on the note. How cold, Hannah.

In any case, I feel like whoever wrote that letter is pretty damn heartless. First off, she's saying that her kids are "normal", but to be honest, I feel like any devil spawn that can come from a... person like that can't be normal. Oh, they can be, in appearance, or perhaps mentally, but at the very least they're going to have a very abnormal way of viewing the world. And she says that she has a disabled child, yet lives near a community "like this". Now, I have no idea what this "Newcastle" place is like. But, it's either some dumpy place or a great place to live. If it's a horrible area, why would anyone complain about a child being there? I would work on making the area a better place to live in general before complaining about a kid making noise. If it's a wonderful place to live, so much the better. That means there will be resources available for the kid. Now, I don't really know what autism is, or what it does, or how it's treated. But if you're in a nice place, then you're probably going to have good doctors and other things... Is it hard to realise why someone might want to bring their kid to live here? And lastly, she says that the mother has no right to do this to "hard working people". However, if your kid had autism, wouldn't you think that you'd have to work harder to provide for the child, rather than coast on some "special treatment"? And anyway, where is this "special treatment" coming from?

You know, I probably wouldn't have minded this letter as much if it had a name on it or even if it was said to the face of that mother. Doing this is more like cyberbullying, only written on a piece of paper.

Even though this is a letter, I really would label at cyberbullying I mean really....how can some mother be so rude? It's more then likely not even that child's fault.

Children don't decide to be born with conditions like that, you know? It's no one's fault that the kid was born that way, but the author of the letter seems to think that someone's to blame for it.

Firstly, bro-fist to Dr. Doom and PichiTheShinyPichu. Seems we all share the same social problem that is Asperger's.
Second... wow Hannah... wow... Other than the quote, your post had nothing even remotely related to the topic of this thread, and a majorly serious topic at that. That's what I call "going off topic" at the worst of times. I know it's not much from a 32 post forumer like me, but you lost a lot of my respect in that.
    Now to the letter.

We all know the phrase, "It's too good to be true". Well, this is too ignorant and demented to be true. I'm not sure a mother wrote that letter. I mean really, even if your views and opinions are that fucked up (oops) and outspoken, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO ALL CAPS RAGE AT ANY GIVEN POINT IN A LETTER AND FINISH ANY STATEMENT WITH 16 EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!!!!!!!

    Scenario A:
Honestly, I find it very likely that this was written by some other young kid who was annoyed by the autistic child. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that this other young kid has undiagnosed and therefor untreated Asperger's Syndrome, possibly explaining why the writer doesn't know how to express his/her (more likely his) feelings in civil society. The lack of curse words, or "adult language" (an oxymoron if I ever heard one), also suggest a fear of being punished for cursing, even tho the note is anonymous.
Now, you might be thinking "You say this kid fears punishment for cursing, but doesn't fear punishment for writing the letter in the first place!?". Well, why should he? According to the letter, the kid is right (in his mind) and everyone agrees with him (or so he thinks). If you're "right" and everyone "agrees" with you, why would they punish you?

    Scenario B:
Also possible, but unlikely, the letter was written by the parents of the very child talked about. The motive for such an action would be to call attention to the things that autistic children and their families must deal with from ignorant members of society. I can respect that goal, but creating a fake personality like that and playing victim is not the way to achieve it.

    Scenario C:
An ignorant adult woman with children really did wright this to the family.

Regardless of what scenario is true, the situation was handled poorly and unprofessionally at best (imagining that there is a "best").
The kid (who may have wrote it) needs therapy and to learn how to deal with society in a proper manor.
The parents (who may have wrote it) need to find another way to raise awareness of autism and the social problems with it.
And the mother (who may have wrote it)... I'd say she's hopeless, but that would make me no better than her... (Actually it would still make me better that her cause I'm just saying "She's hopeless." and not "SHE IS A HOPELESS FUCKING MORONIC BITCH!".) That, and I honestly don't think she's hopeless, as I have seen people turn it around before.
My prayers are with all the members of this mess that they may find some kind of acceptance and/or enlightenment from it.

Hate to break it to you, but that's a response to a different case in which someone put that letter you showed on someone with a disabled daughter's car window parked in a handicapped parking space.

She did reply to the anonymous letter in this article however.

Obviously she was stressed out a lot when she wrote that letter. Or she must have had a fight with her in laws.
