You don't own any weapons so the best you can do it do some investigating of your own to see which of your neighbors have been making nightly visits! Use /stalk to see what your neighbor is doing! Murderer - An acclaimed serial killer in the city of townsville, you're ethic with your murders hence you eluding the authorities for so long. You can choose to either /kill OR /distract a player during the night, but keep in mind that you cannot do both actions. Use your distract to frame other players and make it seem like you stalked someone or just simply dispatch the village while they scramble to find you. You share your commands with your teammates, so be careful! Strategy Spoiler The game relies on the Mafia manipulating the village by remaining hidden and using their kills wisely, or not killing at all. They can choose to distract a villager to fake stalking him, while looking like he visited someone and didn't kill. They can also opt not to use an action and claim to be distracted by the mafia themselves! Manipulation is key for the Mafia to win this game. Village has ways of cleaning each other by either not publicly announcing their stalks, or even remaining on the same target as the lynch thins them down. Possible changes / Noted Spoiler - Will start out with the role "Evelynn" which acts as the Don Mafia among the group (meaning she will decide the kills. - Adding flavor to the roles since this is mostly testing - Villagers get cooler name - Longer flavored descriptions
Test [1] I like the idea but the balance of the spawn is questionable, therefore I think we should test.
Themes like this have been tried before. I believe the last one was called "Shadows", but there was one about a witch too. The concept sadly doesn't work too well for server purposes. I could give it a test if you want, but Decline [1].
What flaws does it have? I mean the last theme I saw with Shadows was really messy, it had a crapload of roles I didn't understand. I thought maybe taking it simpler would be better. Like Dethy!
If there is a death, stalking can be used to gain info about a role who isn't a killer. Using that, it can lead to chain cleaning. X cleaned Y who cleaned Z who-- oh wait, only one target left. Not to mention that the kill is shared. Even if you decide to distract, you can stalk people who targetted the person claiming distracted as well as cleaning people who was not on the distracted target. Games of 4 might be OK for me, but 5-12 would be unbalanced toward village. Dethy is different because it is easier to lie about who you inspect. With the new(ish now) system, roles that are killed are not revealed and it makes it even harder for village. I guess the main difference amongst the two is how working together differs. Mafia can't lie about visiting a dead person. And if multiple targets (shared kill) visit that target, they are done. Even if that target was another stalker who got unlucky, the most effective way to get mafia is to clean villagers and get odd ones out.
Well, I was thinking that Mafias can kill someone claiming a stalk. Even lie about it. I think deception is also key here :x but alright, I'll keep in mind.
If you claim a stalk when you kill and/or distract, you'll still be prime suspect #1. Also, anyone who targets the person who is mafia is also clean by default since mafia can't target themselves. It's easier to get people to clean others and voting out people who don't fit. Also, mafia distract is pointless. You do it, but when people claim who they stalked, they can only lie by saying their partners targetted others. So if any of them are voted out, it becomes obvious who the team is. People without stalk would be easy to find. Or who don't claim their stalk.
