    Yeah regarding the 7 mafs thing because after the game started and feg and wae had died I was like woah this is 70+% chance a scum team win and i felt bad so want to address it a bit more now;
    > as I said above there were only like 2/3 kill targets of scum which I thought with the calibre of the players wouldn't happen (i.e. there would be more crossfire) + plum would help village make more anti-scum decisions but marquis' targets were obvious I guess
    > there were like 3 psuedo bodyguards (feg, waehofen, Ortheore) and one who could turn into a bodyguard [and did{for only one night : S}] (hannah). The quartet didn't stop any kills really : (. When I thought that would help the strong village players stay alive.
    > + with crazy village roles and slightly-less crazy scum roles I thought it would kinda be balanced.
    > At the time if I remember correct I felt as if the only way to tilt it more pro-town would be to add more players, which after sohv I didn't really wanna do. I knew it would be hard but not thaaaaat hard for town to win.
    > I guess i relied upon everyone playing very townlike and maybe marquis and the hater team getting lynched off earlier when in reality there were a few I'm very TOWN TOWN players (say 3 or 4 - none of which were scum) and then the rest could be either.

Yeah that was incoherent but I hope you understand.

I am committed to making a postgame with player by player analysis and releasing the mess and insufficient google doc with ramblings and stuff

    Bye guys. Hope you enjoyed

Sorry for errors and that crap I pulled day 4 and 5

Will be playing more games now hopefully (really keen for last of us [if it goes ahead] and start from scratch : ) and may run a game in the future with a co-host who has experience because I have some good ideas (maybe) but need some limits and someone who can back me up if I disappear haha : S

Can I see Wind and Hopkirk's QT

Also Hopkirk was confirmed scum from the moment Jal flipped, with the idea of competing mafia neighborizers against's Beast's message ability

Also yeah... leaving myself entirely out of the "who to kill" situation would be ridiculously scummy. I had no viable options:

Hopkirk chooses between Wind and Seb: kills me obv since conftown Wind
Hopkirk chooses between Wind and Beast: would kill Beast, look beneficial for Hopkirk and scummy on me (although pretty sure Wind would know that Hopkirk saving him didn't mean town at all, but meh didn't want to risk the apathy either)
Hopkirk chooses between Beast and Seb: yeah basically no fucking way I was giving Hopkirk the chance to kill me, also apparently he'd had a kill that night all along? kk
Beast chooses between Wind and Hop: Hop dies, I get lynched
Beast chooses between Wind and Seb: lol do i even need to
Beast chooses between Seb and Hop: man, this was the closest to 50-50. I suppose me saying I confirmed Hop's neighborizer would more likely lead to me dying though
Wind chooses between Hop and Beast: Hop dies, I get lynched
Wind chooses between Hop and Seb: the major disadvantage here would be that Wind and Hop could talk at night without me, plus Wind already didn't trust me
Wind chooses between Seb and Beast: gg ded\

My only option, not knowing Hopkirk had a kill, was basically ensuring that Hopkirk lived, so regardless of the end result it couldn't end in Wind-Beast-me because that's like an instalynch on me

I also thought there were a lot of good scenarios for you.
Of course hopkirk killing you messes it up.
    But there were a lot.
when you look at the hop-wind qt I think you'll see there were a lot of permutations that might have led to a you win.
You-hop-beast (hypothetically) would have been ok

    I should stop talking haha

Yeah I thought with the decision I made I was guaranteed a good shot in Wind-Hop-me LYLO! Too bad I didn't factor in a kill, I thought something had negated it because I only saw my kills going through

Yeah this game highlighted to me the limitations of 70 messages max : (

Thinking about it now: There are actually ridiculous amounts of talking points from this game; which is probably a good thing!

I was so good. I really wish I hadn't subbed out so early, I wanted to use my action to troll someone saying they were poisoned or silenced or something. :(

Can i know what my actions would have done? Also, marquis did anything happen to you last night? I totally used one of my actions on you. I used the most random one though hoping for luck.

To be fair... if Human Destroyer was never AFK Hannah would have been lynched instead of me day 1, and me and ZoroDark probs would not have died.

I literally wanted to stick my fist down the mans throat, because I lost due to getting 7 votes 2nd or something, and scene messed up by unvoting me :(

I wonder if the two kills were simultanious and if town would have won if Hopkirk was chosen to die.

oh, i haven't read the whole thing. Just keep waiting to see what my actions did. I was really hoping I would stop Marquis. I did enjoy subbing in.

I think dopog did a good job for a first time host. I think this was their first time at least.

I tried to pretend to have a lean scum read or something on Hannah to avoid detection as a PR, but I remember at that point I was watching the thread and hoping I wouldn't need to vote you—I think I'd have done it if necessary, although ideally I really wanted a Marcello. lynch at the time.

    Postgame? Here we are!. Pt. 3! ><> ><> ><>

    So here we are

I had such high hopes for this game, and I think for the first day and a half, the game delivered.
So let's not talk about anything else.

No seriously most of the dramas have already been covered earlier in the thread but feel free to ask questions!

And there were good moments and roles throughout so I'm glad that it happened and people enjoyed it.

    • Actually just after reading this, if you wanna reply with feedback - not related to activity (because I think john of the year nomination covered it), but rather mechanics and roles and gameplay and just most importantly whether or not you enjoyed the game - please do so : )

Anyway let's go player by player in order of death I guess

    Laurel, Hater, Lynched Day 1

Don't know what to say about the role; was just a combination of a couple things I saw before but he died before it could be used : ( This guy was perhaps an undeserving winner. Lynched day 1. I suppose the key things I noticed amongst all of his posting day 1 (appreciate the activity! btw) was that he seemed to push ZoroDark (his teammate) as both a scum and town read at the same time. Like saying he was scummy yet not voting for him or really consistently pressing him or asking questions and then contrary he would be using some chainsaw defence to attack those jumping on him; and following from that some of his arguments were almost ad hominem - where he was making assumptions and coming from unfounded positions to dismiss cases against him and make them against others. Perhaps from the omniscient perspective of a host it was helpful in seeing how the claims of scum against townies are at their heart false because townies are not scum - although this is harder to discern when playing because town do scummy things. Annnywaaaay what I am trying to say - he played ok but was probably too aggressive, presumptious - that combined with the inactivity of certain players who thought he was town or were his partners (although if HD is the deciding vote on hannah day one and then laurel is found to be scum HD is the likely next scum right?) meant he got kicked d1. His non interaction with HD(eventually Hopkirk) meant people came after zoro instead of HD which may have been helpful? I'd love to see him try a different style as both a town and mafia player but mafia is hard when you are scum your first couple noc games.

Nicehat, Bravest Warrior, Killed Night 1

Nicehat seems to play a classic protown style (activity + analysis) and so when I saw they got this role I was a bit conflictedbecause the protown style usually leads to an early death (ask waehofen and me when I'm not a john) but I knew nicehat would try play it well. Which is kinda what happened mostly. I don't know if nicehat was trying to be a bit quieter but they didn't post as much as I expected, although all of the posts were clearly targeting the right things and the right players. Nicehat managed to get a lot of pressure on players who were attacking town players (regardless of their alignment) and the reads were good - iirc nicehat had no real hint of town reads on scum players (although had some scum reads on town players - yet it's hard to be overly critical of d1 reads on town players) - and when that happened nicehat was killed. The role was cool (announcer and weird question asker) because it would spread information to heaps of people and I envisioned it relying on the selection of the player first rather than the question and then picking a good question to send the answer to them. Also announcers are cool but I didn't want it to be to obvious what the question asker part of the role was hence the snips in the first announcement d2. And this announcement, paired with jalmonts, led to Fegelein's death : S . Anyway nicehat played well : ) but didn't ultimately impact the game too much : (

Fegelein, Bravest Warriors, Lynched Day 2

First off the bat; I don't recall many announcers in previous PO forum mafia games (maybe there was one in Instruments of D? anyway could have researched this in hindsight) so that may have been why a quarter of the game immediately went after feg after the two announcements beginning day 2 here. But I think (and this indeed is easier to say as a host) when a host is posting something like that - as coming from another source in quotes - you have to at least ask a few questions. I would recommend to default on a neutral "this-may-be-true-or-false" kind of position, but potentially the two announcements together just meant feg had to go. I recall some people thinking that the post in red (which was actually Jalmont's) was in fact nicehats and seeing that they had a dead town announcer and question asker, therefore the announcement had to be true, but I felt the two annnouncements being in context of one another would do something to deter people from that conclusion.

Anyways enough about that. This role. Feg requested a vig and this was probably closest to it. But wow it didn't get to be used much. And the first night Fegelein targetted tso in night 1.2 instead of night 1.1 who he thought was town but not many other people did.

Basically what would have happened if Fegelein targetted anyone who was targeted for a kill (So either of plum's two or the mafia alternating kills) - start of night x.2 I would send both the attacker and feg a message saying you have been spotted or you have spotted someone outside the target's house respectively and they both would be presented a choice and the result is explained by the diagram below. The two choices for each are in the first rows and columns.

    BWMafia Impossibear choice permutation.jpg

Somewhat unrealistic I suppose but it just meant that chasing was high risk-high reward and the same for staying and killing. Although running away sucks in hindsight. It favours the Impossibear player, but that is because he is a psuedo bodyguard so it should favour him for choosing the corret target.

As for feg himself, his reads were a bit all over the place, but he's never afraid to stand for what he thinks. Not much to say otherwise however because he was busy with stuff.

Getting a bit tired so not many more today

Waehofen, Bravest Warriors, Killed night 2 and Hannah, Bravest Warriors, killed night 3

I gave waehofen this role because I thought he would die early anyway, might as well die for someone else. And because despite having a couple actions/interactions it was somewhat vanilla in terms of ability to be a reckless player, this also suited wae - he requested vanilla. Waehofen played really well day 1 and seemed to have really solid scum reads on scum players. His posts almost always got responses and they were pretty funny. He followed his post restriction by using the weird format he did and he was actually a really good player to have as a host. But d2 his reads got a bit fuzzed by the fegelein nonsense. But he was playing strong town enough to merit a double target of kills, so he died. Not all that much to say - Waehofen is one of the best day 1 village players I know : )
He worked out Hannah was Beth n1 and targeted feg and meeps with his actions n1 and n2 respectively.

I really liked this role when we were originally thinking of it, then I was kinda meh on it, and then I re-realised how good it kind of was to me when I sent it out to wae. In terms of what Bravest Warriors actually is, I think the role suited Chris great and I would have loved it for him to die for someone else. Also as an aside I realised it wasn't explicit in the role PM but he would die if Beth died, but not the other way round. Speaking of

Hannah died the night after waehofen. Her play always confuses me and she got into an almost neverending town v town versus tso which affected the thread for a while and then seemed to get lost in the rising day three apathy. Her night action targets were mediocre but understandable (marcello and metal sonic mostly. Although I think she safeguarded waehofen night 1 yay). Oh wow that sounds overly bleak. Despite all this she seemed to play rather well and got the mafians a bit jumpy with her reads on not tso and marcello so she was the next to go.

After Chris died (it would have happened if Chris died of both of them found each other) Hannah was sent this:

So yeah she became a bodyguard. I think you can see how many kind of protective roles the town had. Unfortunately the first night she could use the ability she died. Going from memory again like I said; I think some of the mafia were rather scared of her, particularly the hackers who had inspected her night one (i.e. saw her role pm pre-bodyguard). That's why metal sonic did all that "friend' junk to bait Hannah. It kinda worked as she thought metal sonic was her best friend : S
I think there is not much to say except that Hannah perhaps ought to reevaluate her slight town/slight scum reads at the end of each day because she kinda tunnels people (hard saying they are town or scum) when she is town, even turning small town or scum reads into large ones (see somewhat her reads on Marcello, TSO). Which is a minor thing for an otherwise good player : )

    Kinda want to rest

    Bye for now!

    I'm back hey

    ZoroDark, Hater, Lynched day 3

ZoroDark's first game iirc. It was pretty brutal in some respects. Up until day three I thought he played really darn well however. When I was talking to him about the game it seemed he was having a hard time trying to navigate suspicious and the buddying of laurel from d1 and the general agreement with certain players (e.g. he agreed a lot with waehofen iirc). He even got a bit scared of posting at points. But I think he played well and really made it so people couldn't link him and hopkirk. He was the janitor and watcher for that mafia and I really wanted them to use the jan. Nicehat's role probably would not have been good for it, although I thought HD (original player in Hopkirk's slot) would be able to coordinate the night actions well. Anyway well played ZoroDark (especially day 1 and 2) and despite being lynched day three (it wasn't an easy lynch despite how it may have looked) I think a deserving winner, especially for first game as scum in a noc.

    Already done Hannah

    Soooo

Ortheore, Bravest Warriors, Lynched Day 4

I had original done this role for Meowmix = cat. And here was the PM in it's original form

    Shoutout to the legendary role of town watcher. Anyway when sent to ortheore it was this;

I really like how Ortheore plays the game of mafia. I mean after watching him in matrix as ma partner, watching him play in anon was actually like watching my son becoming a man (or what I imagine it ought to be like). He requested a pr and since everything was power roley he ended up in this slot. This was one of the last pm's I wrote I think and the role was very all over the place. Utilised properly I imagined the player being really reckless and trying to dodge kills or just playing a solid game and making it to late game where the role would be a monster. In practice no blankets were used (which is ok cause late game), but I think orth managed to dodge a few targets night 1 with it. Anyway Orth started off quite well. Classic analytical style with a classic day one mixed reads - which is not bad. But he lost motivation, so ZZZX subbed in and did ZZZX things. Actually can't really remember : ( He had to leave and Ortheore willed himself to play again and threw out some good arguments yet I'm sad that he was lynched shortly after. I was suprised by this lynch the most of them all game. Perhaps it was just apathy. Perhaps I should re-read day 4 but anyway an up and down game for a now firmly established player, but nothing to be ashamed of.

Meeps, Bravest Warrior, Died night 4

Seeing as the prior two roles had "post restrictions" - a quick word about them. They really need to fit the tone of the game. I think this game was just marginally too serious to dictate following of trivial post restrictions.
Anyway so meeps. One of my favourite roles and a player who fit the role I think. The role was supposed to pressure individuals heavily during the day, then track them and think about the targets. If they were suspicious then he could use the hook to block the actions yeah makes sense. Meeps played above average for town in this game. And was probably the player who I think being alive at the end could have made a major difference. Don't really know what he thought of all of them but he seemed after day 2 to never have solid town reads on the scum players. He pressured zorodark consistently and from memory got on jalmont and Hopkirks case. He also targeted zorodark and marquis which was solid and had he lived to day five after tracking marquis maybe could have linked some dots up. If he had hooked marquis it wouldn't have mattered because he was double targetted that night unfortunately. Anyway gg meeps

Ajhockeystar, Bravest Warriors, Lynched Day 5

Ugh. Sorry aj. This is the single biggest dumb thing I did all game.

Aj was playing his first noc game. He loved the role and was thinking about messages to send : ) But he was also finding it pretty hard under the pressure as a town player. So he needed to sub out and poignant lyrics went in, played alright, then disappeared. So after a day ajhockeystar came in and the following night sent a message to windblown. Except I forgot to send it to Windblown. I forgot.....
And so when aj was talking about it day 5 to try and somewhat clean himself... Windblown didn't see any pm. GG

This ultimately meant a mid-game wagon started on him that, as a new to noc player, would have been very hard to throw off, even without a host drama involved.
I think after all four psuedo bodyguards (feg, wae, hannah, orth) were gone along with the town roleblocker (meeps), from day 5 the town either needed three crossfires or to get a scum lunch every day or some sort of combination. Even though the town night actions were average from this point on (really aside from meeps and wae and maybe nicehat, throughout the whole game), they managed to lynch scum the next two days and if not for this mistake could have started that a day earlier to roll to an awesome win.

    Sorry aj,
I love your enthusiasm for mafia and I'm sorry I directly lead to your lynch : (

    from dopog

Metal Sonic, Hacker, Killed night 5

So Epikhairz was playing as scum for his first time and then needed to sub early d1. Which was kinda sad cause I liked the jokey angle he was aiming for in his posts [although one was rvs so dunno]. Anyway in comes metal sonic who made his tactic to lurk. Which is an optimum scum tactic but I dunno how fun it makes the game. Anyway I can't really say if metal sonic played well or not cause he did very little in line with the tactic. This was probably the most suprising kill of the game and that both Hopkirk (hater team) and marquis targetted metal sonic (along with windblown for his kill), I didn't know where it came from. He wasn't really starting anything. I guess it makes sense if you're Marquis and you feel you need to get the other scumteam if that's what you suspect he is but even then and for Hopkirk it's even weirder. If you guys could shed some light on that it'd be cool. Like this was not the crossfire kill I thought was coming. I thought hopkirk might scare Marquis more and lategame jalmont might have scared both of them.

Metal sonic kind of refused to think over his night actions because he didn't know the game flavour. I didn't help by being a bit miffed at it and not subbing marcello day 5. But he didn't read stuff.
Anyway in terms of acheiving wincon he probably did all he needed to do assuming he doesn't get killed. The whole hacker team was in prime position to win before night 5. But in terms of gameplay and being competitive in thought process he didn't add much to the game. I mean there is a disconnect between his effort to convince hannah he was her best friend and his effort with his roles night actions. And it's sad for a host to not see the elements come together.
Also dopog theory I think when you're in a game with GOOD players lurking early as scum hurts in the end because it IS the optimum tactic for scum as opposed to lurking late which is (read: seems) more organic.
Sorry if that's rather negative but this forum is about fun and community and some competitiveness, not whatever else. One positive thing I will say is metal sonic reads town players well as scum and he was scared of the right players and wanted mostly the right kills. And stuff with Hannah that was well played.

However if I'm in a game where certain players lurk early I will now from this experience try to lynch them perhaps relentlessly.

    Anyways;

    Marcello., Hacker, Lynched Day 6

Marcello requested scum so here we are! Just quietly I think he was the only sub situation I really was disappointed with myself at/would call a mistake. As with the others I was trying to talk to the players (aj, poingnant, orth, tso, jal) and see what was happening before I went to a sub so that's why those situations may have appeared to drag on. Whereas I couldn't contact marcello at all. He disappeared. Anyway I thought he was playing lights out, potentially better than sohv. But I think people were weary of his shennanigans and so waehofen and nicehat (I think) jumped on him early which meant that no one (bar maybe Hannah) solid town read him the whole game. However no one had the idea to push hard for a lynch on him until day six when he was gone. The post restrictions also probably muddled everything up till the point they were ignored (see my point on them above in meeps' review thingy).

If you haven't noticed by now the hacker mafia (being hackers) was supposed to work their night actions by obtaining people's role names (via metal sonics' role) and then messing with those roles; giving them a post restrict with jalmont to find out who they were, changing their action target with metal sonics' second action or inspecting them with marcello.. As the guys were all experienced I thought that these actions would come together nicely. But metal sonics kind of reluctance and some inactivity meant this didn't happen. Instead marcello got post restricted which is what I thought would happen night 1 (as in team target) but it kept happening and yeah we were done.
Anyone marcello up until his disappearance was probably the scum that played the best in the thread. He didn't get to use his second night action which I thought would be epic and when I realised that didn't happen when he was lynched that was when I clearly understood the apathy no sub was so terrible.

Sorry all about that : (

Hopefully someone can use these night actions/ideas in a much more succesful way one day : )

Feeling the tiredness now so we'll take a break!

    cya round

You know what I have heaps of time today so let's try get somewhere!

JhenMohran and sorta kinda Scizor, Bravest Warriors, Killed night 6

My favourite role before the game started. Trying to work out how this role (amnesiac inspector) would be successfully implented was in part the catalyst for two parts of the night phase. It went through a lot of different ideas of how the inspection would mechanically work such as; strictly x.1 inspect, x.2 record | upon inspect you would not get the result but upon death all the inspection results would be revealed (saw it somewhere else) | a series of three actions - all three need to be completed on one person to inspect that person - but he could only do two a night | some more I can't remember + didn't right down
The inspiration for the way it worked in the game (as in the PM above) was inspired by momento and it was supposed to have a risk reward dynamic depending if you wanted to go heaps of inspects in a row without checking or just inspect check.
If you think about it it's so hard to implement a role that "forgets" things so if anyone would give advice on how to do this role better and maybe even if someone wants to take a role like this and run with it feel free.

I think it would have been really interesting had the targets of Scizor and JhenMohran not overlapped so much with the kill targets. It may work better in a heaps larger game. Anyway Scizor wanted to have another go at NOC after getting lynched day 1 in matrix and even though he needed to be prodded and he was a bit off in his reads he did something that he didn't do in matrix and that was take a stand when people wanted to lynch him. It was really encouraging from a newer player. Don't know where he is at now but he played pretty good considering although he chose hannah over lauerl day 1. With the night action he wanted to play it conservative and go inspect night x, and check night x + 1.
Anyway so after that inactivity Jhen came in and he played decent. I think his style is a bit hard for me to understand but that's ok. His reads weren't great but his presence gave the town a chance as he cleaned windblown and always saved him when chosen by Marquis. He also managed to go from sorta scummy to almost conftown who all the scum wanted to kill : ) He went for a riskier strategy with the night actions (2 inspects, check) but together sciz and jhen only were able to inspect wind and have him not die in the proceeding cycle. Dunno if that's hax or just the way they game flowed or bad choices or what. Just a quick comment I think Jhen may need to slightly change what he looks for when he looks for scum because it seems to be hit and miss sometimes (although that is classic scumhunting - nobody's really an "amazing" scumhunter). Sorry Jhen not thinking right we can talk it over later I know there are some examples in the thread there - quickest I can think of an example is the wagon you semi-lead on tso.

    Jalmont, Hacker, Lynched day 7

So I've spoken a bit about this role already in the hacker team strategy bit but I think this suited jalmont. It was supposed to kind of mess with people's ideas of other players (as the announcement did day 2) and if not for college apps and with a negation by tso's role added in I think jal could have rode some announcements and a timely neighbourise to victory for the hackers. Yeah so as touched on as well his main game changing play was the announcement haha.
But I think jalmont kind of tried to input and lurk and feign simultaneous interest/effort and disinterest. I could say that he played how ortheore felt to make it sound cool. I was a bit upset with his "I'm finding it hard to play" fake stuff but then he actually did get busy so that's pretty funny. With his night targets he got interfered with a lot and didn't get to use (didn't try) the neighbouriser. The post restriction on marcello. was real though. Anyway I think jal when he was active did a good job of stirring stuff up and chucking around reads while he was active. I wish he could have been more switched on for day seven but I think things didn't come together, especially beast subbing in and him not being able to get on the forums enough.
Hopefully one day we'll get the perfect storm of activity from a mixed and well-rounded playerlist such as this in a game. It'll be fantastic : )

@jal just thinking now would you have done things differently had you realised you had no partners left earlier haha? Where you planning to use the neighbourise heading into "lylo"?

Here is the hacker mafia quick topic: http://www.quicktopic.com/50/H/L9kU9FiKGkh although I edited and deleted some stuff dunno why

    FINAL FOUR

TSO and Beast, Bravest Warriors, Killed night 7

So this is a role taken from a few different places and I called it a dreaming Jack-of-all-Trades (name from one of the source material places was "dreaming god" but I didn't like that so much and the actions of that role affected the whole game, whilst these were targeted actions, so ja). Anyway they sent a target and a word and then a certain action would happen depending on the word.

    Here are what the words correspond to;
    • Cray Cray - Wallow gets a full flavour inspect of the targeted players role PM that is translated back and forth into different languages and english 30 times and I hint at that softly in the pm. [in the PM to Beast I recall saying "you wonder how to interpret it" but I guess I can't realy expect that to lead to anything]
    • Mystery box # ?? - Wallow picks a number in the # spot and a player is post restricted to that many words in each post.
    • A pair of hover trunks - Protects the targeted player from Plum for that night. i.e. if they are picked by Plum but not saved by the choosers no one dies.
    • An absolutely pitiful move - Super (Safeguard) - This meant that the player Wallow targeted could not target anyone nor be targeted with non-kills during that night.
    • My long lost brother! - Permanently neighbourises the target. i.e. the two share a quick topic.
    • Delicious - Wallow receives a flavour inspect of one line of the target's role PM flavour.
    • Gonna punt children! - Checks if the target is danny. Gets result danny or not danny.
    • A bunch of baby ducks - The target receives a bunch of baby ducks. (The ducks do nothing......!!!!)
    • (My personal favourite) Gonna be investigated! - Accidentally wallow sends the target his win condition.
TSO idled two nights and I couldn't make contact either of those nights so it was kinda disappointing. Although the first couple uses were very interesting; he sent his win condition to windblown, he received flavour from ZoroDark's FAKE ROLE PM (will get to that later) and using the safeguard on metal sonic night 4 he messed with so many people's actions especially the hackers. Beasts uses were kinda under par (although he used Cray cray on Marquis n6 and had it been easier marquis could have been lynched which would have made things interesting) but there was no real option for him (seeing he couldn't target himself) the night he died.
Anyway dunno what to say about the two other than tso took strong positions but had spurts of inactivity and activity and it was kind of ok until he went on hiatus, bar the hannah is scum. Him and feg had their little town bloc day 1 because of it and they shared quite a few reads but yeah I think tso's impact in the thread wasn't massive, although he did get some mid-game wagons off him quite well and constantly doubted marquis as town which not many other players tossed over. I think consistent activity is what I can recommend, but that's kinda always the ideal and obvious : S

Anyway will probably have a go at a role like this sometime in the future with a couple tweaks and feedback for it would be cool : )

    Marquis, Wolf, Killed night 7

I semi-regret writing this role PM next to last, but Marquis kinda picked it up and ran with it. When I think about Marquis played a great game. He was on almost all the mislynches but never seemed to come under much suspicion. As in he always was pushing mislynches (or really just lynches) yet never being too involved. His work day 2 (trying to sound conflicted about feg iirc) and day 5 (passive aggressive on aj) in particular are highlights and I think had he won I would have had no qualms because he played well despite not really looking solid town. Yet by the time that night 7.2 came around and the message in the thread was posted about Marquis having to choose Hopkirk had already decided that Marquis should die.

Oh before I forget this is the neighbour qt between wind and hoppy - http://www.quicktopic.com/50/H/XNs7xYiUy2bYw - so wind mostly thought Seb was town and I thought in a *coughs* "lylo" between seb-wind-hop I think Marquis (seb) would have won.

Anyway I think the role had a lot of stuff but it wasn't actually that multi-dimensional. In hindsight I would have liked to give it one more night action (although it was quite strong in a game with 6 other scum) and the message copy was somewhat-underwhelming in practice. Although all his blocks were used up by the end of the game. Hopkirk's kill target of Marquis night 3 iirc was big when you think about it.
So yeah the killing part of the role was something I wanted to try (i.e. a player picks a council to make decisions about who to kill out of limited options) and I thought it would help the village because only 3 (catbug / impossibear / beth) village players were untargetable (to make the decision) but there were lots of mafians who couldn't be targeted. And if there were more not obviously town players in the game this may have been the case.
    This is one of the pm's for the choice that needed to be made;

I alternated between some arbitrary flavours (water, fire, something else, and then when the people who were targeted to choose already had been before I just said "the same thing as before but between X and Y" : S)
And I kinda just expanded on the above one for the endgame sequence. (@all: How was that flavour by the way?)

But Marquis (except for the pick of metal sonic and one other time idk) just picked the two most town players in his opinion and everyone saved windblown haha - especially Jhen and metal sonic who were picked a lot. Which is probably an ideal strategy. I just wish that he could have been lesss sure about who was town but there are certain clarities given you by being a wolf I guess. So yeah Marquis played well and gave himself a strong chance to win. I think he also gave a good example of how to play a wolf in a game like this.

    ENDGAME

Windblown, Bravest Warriors, Engamed night 7

Here is Mr. Continuously saved by others himself. This role was probably the one with the biggest gap between expectation and reality. In part because you need to keep checking it and because I thought some of the items would be more easily understood then what happened in reality. Alignment mail is just the player can send someone their alignment (i.e. win condition) with it and blanket (Windblown was not supposed to know what this was) has the same effect as Catbug's blanket (life preserver). Other stuff makes sense if you think about it. This role showed me the merits of an easily accesible role PM which will hopefully happen in future dopog games.

I really like how Windblown plays mafia even though I always scum read him and mostly windblown made good on the hopes I had for him in this game. Windblown had a good reads list day 1. No town reads on scum players. Like at all. And he was rather contributive to most of the scum lynches. But after day 5 it was too late. If aj knew he couldn't send his message that night earlier then maybe windblown could have carried the village home : ) Which is a nice thing to say but maybe not to hear : ( keeping him alive was definitely a good idea on the towns decision making part because he had played well. I dunno what else to say. Getting endgamed sucks and I guess think more about your night action choices...
But otherwise Windblown was probably the real loser in this game because he was alive - cleaned even - and playing well enough to maybe win but really he couldn't have after a certain point and there was no winning payoff for him : (
    Sorry about that

    he couldn't stop the;

    HOPKIRK SCUM TRAIN

    Hopkirk, Hater, Won night 7

    Hater qt: http://www.quicktopic.com/50/H/47ayT2NE4jD

    Hopkirk was scum.
And he had good reads which = scum?

Seriously he did play a good game. I think (at least during the day) he was much less purposeful then Marquis [comparison comes because by night 3 they were both "wolves"] barring his self-inflicted post-restriction (which I actually thought was a smart idea to implement) up until he realised he had to start chasing scum (night 5 onwards). [Also what I meant by that question @Hopkirk before is why kill metal sonic instead of jal or marc? - although I guess ms was conf scum to Hoppy so he went with the low risk play]. He had a few votes thrown his way and was probably less townread then marquis (what I got the impression of anyway - thinking that marquis would win in most combinations of town-marquis-hopkirk lylo's). Potentially some of that rests on HD's play day 1 which was v/la and it hurts in the long run to not be there day 1. His flips on the early days and muteness regarding ZoroDark day three I thought could have given him up to the town but it kinda got lost and from there he slowly took over the winning position over Marquis and the town and then the Haters and was very active in the marcello lynch and jal lynch day 6 and 7 and had enough info and was ready to choose the correct target night 7 to win the game. This post on day 7 was pretty good not because it was towny (I guess in context it's kinda null) but because it pushed two targets and just I dunno I feel like it gave him outs if the Marquis lynch was not gonna roll on, setting up the false dichotomy of scum is marquis or jalmont - i.e. not me. [all three were scum haha].

    Well played Hopkirk

That's all the roles - may do awards and other stuff later but....

    all I'll do for now : )

the reason 99% of the game bought the announcement (which was my finest play all game lol) was a lot in part due to the fact that announcers aren't really seen on mafiascum so as a result people default to "must be host instigated better lynch rah rah rah." i mean people don't really realize "announcer" is a role. i think i'm the only person who really uses it (it was in team trials and alphabet [and meowmix used it in blindess game, i think that was fitzy's role) in hosting games but it's a cool role that is really funny when you can actually manage to do something with. kinda a tangent but i think it's pretty interesting seeing different hosting styles and how they mesh, i would definitely say this was less of a game you would see on mafiascum, which is cool. open setups are nice and all, but i want to encourage hosts to get creative. seek out role ideas from different places. challenge yourself as a host. it's not just about updating your game, but creating something, breathing life into a setup. read past games that interest you and build off that. forum mafia allows for a wide variety of ideas that you shouldn't be afraid to use!

just some food for thought and i will maybe probably add more later (if i get my shit done rofl)

hopefully will get part three up tomorrow

Also had a question for anyone: do you think it would be more helpful if almost ALL your night actions were conducted through something like quicktopic?

So at the start of the game you get PM'ed a link to the quicktopic and your role pm is there and you submit everything from there?

I think it would mean you have everything in one place and wouldn't lose things as long as you keep the qt link somewhere safe alongside other advantages I'm not bothered to expand on now

actually I am for at least one. I think it would make it easier for subs to enter the game, not that you ever hope you need them but yeah

I definitely would like this. In particular my role was basically a gifting JOAT and I had to repeatedly dig down into my sent messages file to see what actions I had submitted earlier nights.

Before I killed metal sonic there were 8 of us left. I was pretty sure there was a 3p scum team. If I killed town that took it to, what I assumed was, 4town v 3 scumteam v me. Considering I didn’t have a kill the next night then one town mislynch meant 3v1v3 then 3v2v1 at which point I can’t take them down. At that point I HAD to kill scum (bc I didn’t know there was a sk) or lose so I killed what I saw as confirmed scum.
