Hey guys. As you can likely tell, Gen 5 NU is all but complete in terms of analyses. The only remaining pokemon that haven't been analysed are NFE (!) Here is a list of said NFEs (in order of importance, as based on the Wanted Analyses list): Combusken Dragonair Natu Tentacool Murkrow Togetic Sneasel Monferno Lairon Pineco Lampent Staryu Clamperl Seadra Dwebble Wynaut Sandshrew Scraggy Bronzor Whirlipede Ivysaur Hippopotas Vigoroth Duskull Carvanha Marshtomp Krokorok Pupitar Now, the reason for this thread is to decide which of these pokemon actually require analyses. Some of them will obviously just play like their higher tiered, evolved counterparts (Hippopotas, Marshtomp and Ivysaur for examples), so I reckon a full analysis for them would not be necessary. What're your guys' thoughts?
Here's my 2 cents on the remaining mons Definately Wanted: Combusken - Speed Boost is amazing Dragonair - Defensive set w/ Marvel Scale, and one of the NU DD'ers Natu - Magic Bounce is invaluable Murkrow - Prankster set and Perish Trapper Lairon - Head Smash, and superb defense stat with evio Togetic - another SpDef Cleric Sneasel - Fast and Decently strong revenge killer Hippopotas - Defensive wall/phaser with reliable recovery Clamperl - TR Sweeper or Shell Smasher Dwebble - Mini Crustle Wynaut - TRAPPER Scraggy - TOPAH makes him work, so i'll give a writeup a shot Whirlipede - More Hazards Vigoroth - Bulk Up God, also a decent stallbreaker with a Taunt+Toxic set Krokorok - Moxie Crappy Mons: Tentacool - can work as a mini-tentacruel, but suffers from horrid Def and no reliable recovery Monferno - Frankly, there are better fighting types in NU that can actully get around bulky waters. Pineco - Hazards + Rapid spin, but there are honestly better setters that don't get auto-set up on. Lampent - Cool typing, but that's about as far as it goes Staryu - Spinner, but there are better ones Seadra - Can be a defensive wall or a rain sweeper, but there are better mons for these roles Sandshrew - Spinner, but there are better ones Bronzor - No recovery sucks Ivysaur - Can be a defensive sun sweeper with growth, but there are stronger mons for the job Duskull - Weak, so weak ;_; Carvanha - Speed Boost, but dies to like a water gun Marshtomp - bulky water with no recovery. NU has better mons of the same type Pupitar - Interestingly typed DD'er, but walled by like every NU mon, and cannot set up on most of the tier.
Elmo's list looks pretty good. I would argue that Lampent deserves a write-up. It has a great typing, awesome ability in Flash Fire, and decent power behind a great dual STAB. It runs a pretty decent Sub Split set allowing it to put a dent in the opposing team. It's not the best mon, but its more viable than Hippopotas imo.
Seems fair to me. Well, it looks like PokeMMO isn't gonna be doing anything for a little while, so if I can get another chapter of my fanfiction uploaded sometime soon, I'll get started on some of this. :3 (Because my life is that cool. xD)
Actually a few of the ones Elmo left out are pretty legit (if you want to be cool). No harm writing more, anyway. Idk, a lot of these work for NEU #NEURevival I'm sure there are lot of hipsters like me who use weird Pokemon, and I don't find most of them on smogon and have to construct sets on my own. For example, Duskull has a good 90 base defense/SDef but a terrible HP, and even when I'm full HP and I use it on like, Lickilicky, it does a lot. Like, 50%. But if you don't want to write for crappy Pokemon, that's fine too.
I think Slowpoke deserves an analysis just for walling Banded Sawk ._. It even walls Band Emboar to an extent, as even if it uses Wild Charge you can switch back out to get Regenerator and send in a Ground/Grass-type. I realize that Alomomola outclasses it mostly, but Slack Off means you don't need two slots for Wish + Protect allowing you to run moves like Thunder Wave (which Momo doesn't have) or Light Screen. Also you can use what is arguably the weakest Flamethrower in the game to hit Grass types.
