Getting my old reservations done :D. Skeleton: Spoiler ==General==: *Dream World saves Sableye from the depths of NU with Prankster, allowing to function as a good support and stall Pokemon *No weaknesses and key immunities to Fighting, Normal, and Psychic *Horrible stats across the board is what prevents Sableye from being an an above average stall Pokemon *Extremely shallow movepool ==Prankster Stall==: Sableye (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Recover - Foul Play / Night Shade ===Set Comments=== *EVs help balance Sableye's defenses, though are more specially biased due to a lower base SDef, as well as having Will-O-Wisp to help support the physical side. *Taunt shuts down stat boosting Pokemon, prevent status, and prevent stall Pokemon from healing or using utility moves, shutting them down completely *Will-O-Wisp burns physical attackers and cripples their Attack stat *Recover holds the set together, increasing Sableye's longevity and letting it stall longer *Foul Play is used as an attack to hit strong physical wallbreakers like Victini and Darmanitan hard, and allows Sableye to do something if Taunted *Night Shade is a more consistent option if you're just looking to attack anything in general ===Synergy=== *Snorlax can take care of strong special hitters like Zapdos, and can take advantage of Sableye's Fighting immunity. *Stealth Rock support will help Sableye, as many strong special attackers like Zapdos and Chandelure are weak to it, and Sableye is just a natural spinblocker. Spikes work too. Qwilfish, Accelgor, Azelf, and Gligar can all fit this role * ==Other Options=== *SubTorment to prevent most Pokemon from landing a good hit *Calm Mind + Dark Pulse can make Sableye into a good Support / Attacker *Toxic support *Knock Off support to cripple Choice users *Trick a bad item with priority *Priority weather inducer *Can also be a priority Gravity inducer, taking the opponent by surprise due to its rarity, and increases the accuracy of Will-O-Wisp *Swagger. Nuff said. Confuse Ray if you don't want your opponent to get +2 Attack then hit you harder. ==Checks and Counters== *Fire-type wallbreakers immune to Will-O-Wisp can come in on anything except Foul Play and demolish Sableye *Special Fire-types also have no trouble taking down Sableye (Houndoom, Rotom-H) *Powerful Special Attackers such as Zapdos will easily take down Sableye *Xatu can Magic Bounce all the status moves and cripple it with Toxic. [/HIDE]
I'd tack Gravity onto the weather inducer thing too, seeing as it's a rarely used tactic that can really take someone by surprise, and can also work really well. Not to mention it turns Will-o-Wisp's accuracy into something reliable.
I'm ready for any QC chec--oh wait, I'm a QC :P. If no one else has anything to add at all, I'm going to start writing this up. This subforum has been very ded lately :/
Yeah, I know. I got exams and it's only the second week. Anyway, I think you forgot Swagger on Sableye. High Risk, High Reward.
wow how did i miss that. Swagger Sableye pisses me off. Adding Also adding Confuse Ray as an alternative
