So I was looking at the teams here, and noticed a lack of doubles teams, so here's one more. This one is a hail team I had pretty good success with, I hope other people will have the same success. This team is meant for VGC 2013, but is also works for all 6v6 doubles, triples, as well as VGC 2012

At a glance

The Team

Abomasnow (M) @ Grass Gem
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 88 HP / 168 Atk / 252 SAtk
IVs: 0 Speed
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Wood Hammer
- Blizzard
- Protect
- Ice Shard

So, as a hail team, first thing we need is an Abomasnow. Blizzard offers a power STAB move that hits both targets, and with a large amount of ice weak pokemon in the VGC meta, it's sure to do some damage. Wood Hammer is there for both grass STAB, and it can, with the attack EVs and the grass gem, score a surprising amount of KOs. Some quick damage calcs:

168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def lvl 50 Tyranitar (Neutral): 101% - 119% (210 - 248 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def lvl 50 Politoed (+Def): 131% - 156% (260 - 308 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.
168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/252Def lvl 50 Politoed (+Def): 98% - 116% (194 - 230 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 91% chance to OHKO.
168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/252Def Rindo Berry Storm Drain lvl 50 Gastrodon (+Def): 93% - 111% (204 - 242 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 63% chance to OHKO.
168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def Rindo Berry Storm Drain lvl 50 Gastrodon (Neutral): 140% - 166% (306 - 362 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def Rindo Berry Levitate lvl 50 Rotom-W (Neutral): 67% - 80% (106 - 126 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def Levitate lvl 50 Rotom-W (Neutral): 135% - 160% (212 - 252 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.
168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/252Def lvl 50 Suicune (+Def): 72% - 85% (150 - 176 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.
168Atk Grass Gem lvl 50 Abomasnow (Neutral) Wood Hammer vs 252HP/0Def lvl 50 Suicune (Neutral): 98% - 115% (204 - 240 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 91% chance to OHKO.[/HIDE]

As you can see, wood hammer Abomasnow is not the friend of water types. The main target, however, is Tyranitar. Wood hammer is a clean OHKO on 252/0 Tyranitar, something Giga drain misses out on, and Grass knot has trouble with lighter targets, like Rotom-W. Ice shard is there to allow Aboma to bypass it's low speed and smack something before he's hit. Protect let's Aboma is avoid damage for a turn, while his partner can deal with a threat, or simply to stall for hail damage.

Max special attack powers up blizzard, while 168 attack EVs allow the T-Tar OHKO with wood hammer. The rest goes into HP to improve bulk. Something to note, is the quiet nature and the 0 speed IVs. This set up allows Abomasnow to underspeed all T-tars and get hail up if both are sent out at the same time, as well maximize speed under trick room.

Rotom-F @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 28 HP / 4 Def / 248 SAtk / 4 SDef / 224 Spd
IVs: 0 Attack
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Volt Switch
- Trick

Say hello to the main sweeper! Rotom-F is one of the rarer Rotom forms, but it is rather deadly, moreso with a scarf. Rotom-F's type combo offers nice duel STABs, while not being weak to Scizor's BP (it's a 3HKO unboosted). Blizzard is the main STAB, with great coverage, power, and spread. Volt Switch allows scouting while doing damage, and let a teammate waiting in the back deal with any threats. HP fire is rarely used, but it OHKOs Scizor out of rain, or if it doesn't hold an Occa berry. Trick is mainly used to cripple walls, making them useless for the rest of the battle

248 special attack EVs max out special attack factoring in the IV drop. 224 speed EVs allow Rotom-F to outspeed all base 130s, and the rest goes into bulk. Modest maxes out special attack, and 0 attack IVs minimize confusion and foul play damage.

Cresselia (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 212 HP / 60 Def / 28 SAtk / 204 SDef / 4 Spd
IVs: 0 Attack
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Helping Hand
- Icy Wind
- Trick Room
- Psyshock

Cresselia is the great wall of VGC, and the master of speed control. Icy wind, though weak, allows Cresselia's partners to outspeed speeder threats. As a bonus, icy wind can't be taunted. Trick room is Cresselia's other form of speed control. It allows her to remove TR if it's up... or set it up herself if icy wind can't slow down the opposing team enough. Helping hand boosts the power of teammate's attacks, and it can turn a 2HKO, into a OHKO. Psyshock let's Cresselia smack around fighting types, and it hits Hitmontop harder then psychic does.

28 special attack EVs lets Cresselia 2HKO 252/0 Hitmontop with psyshock. HP, defence, and special defence EVs prevent Cresselia from being KO by a combo of Hitmontop fake out, and +1 Volcarona bug buzz. HP EVs, if I did my calcs right, minimize hail damage, and gives an odd number to minimize super fang damage. Again, 0 attack IVs minimize confusion and foul play damage.

Garchomp (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail
- Protect

Garchomp is here to make steels and fire types cry. EQ is a powerful spead attack that deals with fire and steel types, though useage is discouraged if there's a lighting fixture in the way. Dragon claw is for dragon STAB, and it smacks what EQ misses out on (Note to single players: Outrage picks a random target, and if it targets, say, a Skarmory rather then that Hydreigon...). Aqua tail is mainly for Volcarona, Rotom-H and any fire types who think they are sneaky for coming in via balloon. Although rock sides also hits most of the same targets, it's also weaker, and doesn't hit Heatran as hard. Protect is Protect.

EVs are as simple as you can get. Max attack for max firepower, and max speed to make the most use of Garchomp's speed tier. Lum works as a "get out of status free card", as Garchomp is a big target for burns.

Chandelure (M) @ Fire Gem
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 64 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 184 Spd
IVs: 0 Attack
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Protect
- Shadow Ball
- Heat Wave

Chandelure offers alot for the team, from melting steels with a STAB heat wave to offering a useful fighting and fire immunities. Heat wave is used as fire STAB, as it hits both targets fairly hard. Shadow ball is ghost STAB, and it hits one target a wee bit harder then Heat wave, as well as smacking any Cresselia rather hard. Substitute is a rather useful tool if Chandelure gets a free turn, as it prevent Chandelure from status, as well as forcing the opponent to attack Chandelure twice to KO.

252 Special attack EVs maxes out Chandelure's firepower. 184 speed allows Chandelure to outspeed neutral natured base 70s, and the rest goes into bulk, with an odd number to create 4 subs (watch out for weather damage!). Fire gem is needed to OHKO 252/0 Metagross with Heat wave, who would otherwise cause problems for the rest of the team.

Hitmontop (M) @ Fighting Gem
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SDef / 84 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Fake Out
- Wide Guard

Hitmontop is one of the most common leads that I use, and it's not hard to see why. Intimidate lowers the attack of both of the opponent's pokemon, while fake out can buy time for Hitmontop's partner to do whatever it wants. Close Combat, backed up by a fighting gem, can and will rip holes, and is by far hitmontop's best STAB. Stone edge is is for coverage and the ability to nicely deal with Volcaronia. Wide guard is used to protect the team from spread attacks such as rock side and heat wave.

252 attack allows Hitmontop to deal as much damage as possible. 84 speed allows Top to get the jump on uninvested base 80s, and the rest goes into bulk.

Well, my knowledge of VGC is non-existent. But, could you use Rock Slide on Hitmontop? It does spread damage (Which helps) better accuracy, more power points, and yeh. Felt sorry this thread had no replies, so I tried.

The problem with rock side, is power. Any spread attacks get weakened if they hit more then one pokemon, which can turn some 1HKOs into 2HKOs, and 2HKOs into 3HKOs. Given that Hitmontop only has 95 base attack, he really wants every bit of power he can get, hence why SE is better then RS IMO.

Yeah great team Iron, played this quite a few times and it's really strong. Have you considered Scrafty over Hitmontop? Does most of the same things while tearing apart Cresselia, although it does like a Chople Berry to take Gem Close Combats so maybe that's not something you're into, probably inferior tbh but just thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe Stone Edge on Garchomp too, but misses are misses. Really like the Abomasnow set too!

I have thought about adding Scrafty, however, the three main things I like about Hitmontop over Scrafty is the lack of fighting weakness, Hitmontop's higher speed, and wide guard. But your right about Scrafty dealing with Cresselia. Thing is, I have Chandelure who can dish out plenty of damage to Cresselia with STAB shadow ball, and Rotom-F can cripple her with trick.

I have used stone edge and rock side on Garchomp, and I preferred aqua tail because it hits most of the same targets barring flying types, who do not enjoy blizzards from the ice types, while still hitting Steels w/o using EQ.

Also, I'm really glad you like the Aboma set :D
