For the upcoming PO league we're going to need badges. They should be done in the third gen style (including fitting within the size limit, 16x16 pixels, and limiting the number of colors.), and be original/from scratch. You may base them on whatever you think will look best, and may suggest which gym a badge should be for (but we may use it for a different one). The gyms will be based around popular metagames rather than types, so bear that in mind. When we have enough to fill the current gyms with decent quality badges the staff will select the best and use them as official gym badges. Reference:
- StreetPKMN (umm, that's the only thing i could think of.) - looks a little bit bad, i know, but i still gave it as an option. umm, yeah. all of them are 14*14, and they're without bg. Most of them i just remake, but still.
Did you draw those yourself? They are very nice, but don't really fit the style of the other badges at all (maaybe the first and last, but they still need some tweaks).. way over the color limits, no black outline, more like objects and less actual badges. Edit: and apparently I was wrong, the size restriction is actually 16x16. Edit2: yay i can't sprite:
yeah, the problem was to make new ones, because they made almost everything, and most of the thing you can make are not related to pokemon at all. @_@ I can outline them if you want, and try make them look like badges.
There are loads of shapes they've not used so far, they don't even have a triangle one! Just need to be a bit creative, and it does not matter what they are really. Not many of the official ones are really related to Pokemon. And, I don't think you answered my first question, did you draw them yourself? 'cos I asked for original/scratch sprites. If they are yours and you think you can make them badgelike, then sure. Need to reduce the number of colors a lot though.
well, i didn't liked the way i drew the fire thing, so i didn't edit it. same with the compass. here's the edited sprites:
both are still way over the color limit without need, are a bit small for the 16x16 pixel limit, and both have gray pixels outside the outline.. also, the blue one is a bit too similar to the Cascade badge to be used. Edit: reduced to three colors, expanded to fit size better, removed gray pixels:
hmm, i can't see the gray things. o.o anyway, thanks for the advices. here's a few things i made - The cc badge (random eyes = random pokemons. yeah. o.o) - The Scroll badge - vgc2009 badge (Old)
to see the nonwhite pixels, use fill with color red or something on the background, if it's all white then the whole background will change. If there are pixels left, it's got gray pixels. The scroll badge is cool (two gray pixels though), not as sure about the eyes one but it's not bad.
the problem is, a lightning badge is all good and nice, but the Gyms are not based on types; because of this, it makes no sense to use type-themed badges.
Yeah, but give me an idea for OU 4th gen badge. it's really hard to find something. i just made what i could. Also the official badges looks similar to the gym's type.
I can't guarantee anything, but you could try hitting up zeroality and Pokemon Topaz for help on the badge front. There are really gifted spriters there that can possibly help. I do know some other spriters in different Fan-Made Pokemon games as well.
I made a sprite (working on more and better ones) feel free to use it http://tinypic.com/r/af81ol/7 EDIT: I found this:
DN will probably be doing the badgeset, since only a couple of people have shown any interest in this.
