    So I'm doing two Ghosts!

    On Wiki

    356.png

    Skeleton:
    ==General==
    • It gets Eviolite
    • Its defenses are super good
    • Walls a lot of attackers
    • Will-O-Wisp and other moves are some cool atributes
    • A very good spinblocker, stands the best chance against Kabutops than all the Ghosts
    • Lack of offensive presence, must rely on Night Shade / Seismic Toss
    • Recovery is rather unreliable
    • Still though, Dusclops is a solid wall and spinblocker

    ==RestTalk==

    Dusclops @ Eviolite
    Ability: Pressure
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
    Careful Nature
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Seismic Toss / Night Shade
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk

    • Can stall things for days thanks to its high level defenses
    • Rest, Sleep Talk, WoW, and Pressure make it a bitch to take down
    • Will-O-Wisp burns shit
    • Seismic Toss provides Dusclops a way to deal damage
    • Rest is recovery, Sleep Talk allows Dusclops to do something

    ==Trick Room==

    Dusclops @ Eviolite
    Ability: Pressure
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
    Sassy Nature
    - Trick Room
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Seismic Toss / Night Shade
    - Pain Split

    • Dusclops is bulky enough to set up Trick Room very reliably
    • He takes on Scolipede and Escavalier, two significant threats to TR teams
    • Can stall shit to soften up damage for sweepers to wreck
    • Trick Room because this is what the set is for; supporting slow teams
    • Will-O-Wisp burns stuff to wear them down
    • Seismic Toss and Night Shade provide Dusclops some way to deal damage
    • Pain Split is semi-reliable recovery

    ==Other Options==

    • Taunt
    • Curse
    • Toxic
    • Has a wide physical movepool but can't take advantage of it worth a damn

    ==Checks and Counters==

    • Rotom-N
    • Sigilyph
    • Trick its Eviolite away, though it's still somewhat bulky
    • Barrage it with Ghost-type and Dark-type moves in general
    • Fire-types can absorb WoW
    • Dark-types such as Krookodile and Absol

    ==General==

    Dusclops's main selling point is its excellent defenses, of which can be bolstered further by [[Eviolite]]. This allows Dusclops to take a barrage of hits, and its useful defensive typing grants it the ability to wall a number of offensive threats in LU such as {{5glu|Accelgor}}, {{5glu|Cinccino}}, {{5glu|Scolipede}}, and {{5glu|Hitmonlee}}. Its Ghost typing also grants it the useful ability to spinblock; with common spinners such as {{5glu|Kabutops}}, {{5glu|Cryogonal}}, and {{5glu|Hitmonchan}} being common sights in the tier, Dusclops can fulfill the role of a capable spinblocker, being able to stand a chance against the three Rapid Spin users in the tier. Dusclops also has some useful support moves such as [[Will-O-Wisp]], [[Trick Room]], and [[Toxic]], which allows Dusclops to support its team rather decently.

    Despite these qualities, Dusclops is by no means perfect. While its defenses are undeniably solid, Dusclops lacks reliable recovery outside of [[Rest]] or [[Pain Spit]], the former potentially turning Dusclops into a liability without [[Heal Bell]] or [[Aromatherapy]] support, while the latter is not always reliable. Dusclops also has no offensive presence, forcing it to rely on [[Night Shade]] or [[Seismic Toss]] to deal any legitimate damage. Finally, although its typing is quite solid defensively, it gives it two common weaknesses to Ghost and Dark, making it bait for common threats such as {{5glu|Mismagius}} and {{5glu|Krookodile}} while also leaving it vulnerable to [[Pursuit]]. Overall, while Dusclops has its drawbacks, its high defenses and typing allow it to serve as a useful defensive spinblocker and mixed wall.

    ==RestTalk==
    {{set
    | pkmn = Dusclops
    | item = Eviolite
    | ability = Pressure
    | nature = Careful
    | ev = 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
    | move1 = Will-O-Wisp
    | move2 = Seismic Toss | move 21 = Night Shade
    | move3 = Rest
    | move4 = Sleep Talk
    | gen = 5
    }}

    This is Dusclops's bread and butter set, and aims to make the most use of Dusclops's stalling capabilities. With high defenses and a great ability in [[Pressure]], it can stall out a number of moves such as [[Stone Edge]] and [[Fire Blast]] while having a large amount of staying power. Will-O-Wisp is an important move, as weakening physical attackers and the chip damage are important for a defensive Pokemon. Since Dusclops lacks offensive presence, Seismic Toss is Dusclops's best option to deal any legitimate damage; it also breaks Substitutes. Night Shade, however, is a usable option if Mismagius or {{5glu|Rotom}} are a concern, although this means Dusclops cannot do any damage to {{5glu|Cinccino}}, a Pokemon it could be potentially walling. The choice of a damaging attack depends on the team Dusclops is being used on. Rest serves as Dusclops's form of recovery, fully restoring HP while removing the effects of [[Toxic]]. [[Sleep Talk]] is in the final moveslot for Dusclops to be able to spread burns or deal damage while it is asleep. The EV spread maximizes Special Defense since Will-O-Wisp weakens physical attackers, while Eviolite provides Dusclops a needed boost in bulk.

    ==Trick Room==
    {{set
    | pkmn = Dusclops
    | item = Eviolite
    | ability = Pressure
    | nature = Careful
    | ev = 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
    | move1 = Trick Room
    | move2 = Will-O-Wisp
    | move3 = Seismic Toss | move31 = Night Shade
    | move4 = Pain Split
    | gen = 5
    }}

    Dusclops's low Speed stat and excellent bulk make it an ideal candidate to set up Trick Room with. Dusclops sports an important resistance to Bug-type, which is useful to handle {{5glu|Scolipede}} and {{5glu|Escavalier}}, two significant threats to Trick Room teams. It can also wear down opposing Pokemon to allow sweepers to better sweep the team. Trick Room is the centerpiece of this set, as this is the set's main goal; supporting a slow team. Will-O-Wisp is useful as Dusclops is primarily a defensive Pokemon, and allows it to weaken physical attackers such as {{5glu|Durant}}. Seismic Toss provides Dusclops a way to deal legitimate damage, as does Night Shade. The choice between these two all depends on Dusclops's teammates. Finally, [[Pain Split]] serves as Dusclops's form of recovery, also wearing down the opposing team decently.

    ===Other Options===

    Dusclops has some other options that it could use. It has access to [[Toxic]] and [[Curse]], both as usable ways to chip away the opponent's HP, but Dusclops will rarely find room for such moves. It also has access to [[Taunt]], which can be useful to stop setup attempts from Kabutops, but Dusclops's low Speed makes this less useful. Dusclops could also run a physically defensive spread to better take on {{5glu|Kabutops}} and {{5glu|Durant}}, although Will-O-Wisp makes this less useful. Dusclops also has an expansive physical movepool with many offensive options. Unfortunately, Dusclops's poor Attack stat means it cannot put any of these moves to good use.

    ===Checks and Counters===

    {{5glu|Houndoom}} stands out as the most notable counter to Dusclops, as it can absorb Will-O-Wisp and also gain a [[Flash Fire]] boost, while being able to trap it with [[Pursuit]]. Other Dark-types such as {{5glu|Zoroark}}, {{5glu|Krookodile}} and {{5glu|Absol}} can keep Dusclops well in check, although they must be wary of Will-O-Wisp. Using [[Trick]] against Dusclops will render it useless, removing the bulk attained from Eviolite while preventing it from properly utilizing its moves. {{5glu|Sigilyph}} does not mind Will-O-Wisp thanks to Magic Guard, and can set up Calm Mind against the helpless Dusclops. Fire-types in general can absorb Will-O-Wisp from Dusclops; in particular [[Calm Mind]] variants of {{5glu|Entei}} can set up [[Substitute]] of which Dusclops cannot break due to Entei's high HP. [[Bulk Up]] variants of {{5glu|Braviary}} can also use Dusclops as setup fodder. In general, it is useful to take advantage of Dusclops's lack of offensive presence by using setup moves.[/HIDE]

    Is Dusclops actually good in LU? I know it is useless garbage in UU, but in LU, there is no shortage of fighting types, so...

    General:

    Mention Set-Up fodder.

    Mention it's horrible HP Stat.

    Will-O-Wisp and shit makes it a pretty good wall - Will-O-Wisp doesn't essentially make something a good wall.

    Walls a lot of attackers - Be more specific. Beginners might think you're talking about something not viable. Stupid, but likely.

    Sets:

    Can stall things for days thanks to its high level defenses - is this true? I mean, it has horrible HP, and a lot of things can 3hko it.

    Rest, Sleep Talk, WoW, and Pressure make it a bitch to take down - What? Will O Wisp makes it a bitch to take down? What about things that don't mind it, or are not effected by it? Pressure is minor, to be honest. Rest and Sleep Talk are unreliable, so taking it down isn't a bitch, just slightly difficult.

    Will-O-Wisp burns shit - Rephrase this. Be more specific. What does it threat with Will O? *(For example)

    Finally, slash Night Shade with S Toss on the first set.

    Second Set:

    Trick Room because this is what the set is for - Rephrase this, in my opinion. What's it's purpose on the set?

    Pain Split is semi-reliable recovery - Maybe mention it's pro to take advantage of it's horrible HP to manipulate Pain Split?

    OO:

    Night Shade is viable, so take that off the OO, and Slash it on both the sets.

    Curse + Pain Split is very viable, and works. It deserves it's own set IN MY OPINION. Idk what the QC says tho.

    Shadow Sneak isn't an option; It really isn't viable.

    Maybe Toxic?

    C&C

    Mention how much Trick cripples it.

    SubCM Entei takes a shit on it with 101 Subs, and immunity to Will-O-Wisp.

    SubBU Brav is a counter if they run Night Shade over SToss.

    Specs Zoroark is sort of a counter.

    Other Stuff: Lum Kabu beats Dusclops after prior damage (3 Layers of Spikes, and Rocks), due to Swords Dance.

    That's all I got; most of you're errors just need to be rephrased.

    I'd give a specially defensive set a mention too, as its physical defence is still astronomical even without heavy investment, and this lets it take stuff like non STAB Shadow Balls fairly easily. Will-o-Wisp still lets it tank most physical hits as well.

    luca, calm down a little bit. Unlike the LU subforum, these posts are supposed to be unbiased.

    Talk about low speed and TR in general, defining attribute IMO.

    Mention Fire Types in CC, as they absorb WoW. Also talk about Dark types.

    Mention max SDef over max Def.

    I do like the Curse set, though I haven't tried it in LU yet.

    Mention Taunt. And yes, slash Night Shade with SToss.
