    ==Overview==
    Magneton fulfills a very similar role as it's older brother in OU, Magnezone, as the Steel trapper of LU. With the most resistances in the game and access to Eviolite, Magneton is pretty bulky despite the 50/95/70 base defenses. While not as common as in OU, Magneton is very good at trapping and killing Steel types like {{5glu|Escavalier}} and {{5glu|Steelix}}. It also has good momentum with Volt Switch and a very nice 120 base Special Attack. Unfortunately, Magneton suffers from 70 base speed, which leaves it too slow to out speed most Pokemon without a Scarf and too fast to abuse Trick Room. This paired with its shallow movepool along with the weakness to the common Fire and Ground type leave Magneton far from perfect.
    ==Sets==

    ===Steel Trapper===
    {{set|name=Steel Trapper
    |pkmn=Magneton
    |nature=Modest
    |item=Eviolite
    |ability=Magnet Pull
    |ev=156 HP / 252 SAtk / 100 Spd
    |move1=Thunderbolt
    |move2=Volt Switch|move21=Charge Beam
    |move3=Hidden Power Fire|move32=Hidden Power Fighting|move33=Hidden Power Ground
    |move4=Substitute|move41Flash Cannon}}
    The most standard Magneton set. The goal is to switch into an opposing Steel type, and either kill it with Hidden Power, or set up with Charge Beam. Volt Switch provides momentum, while Charge Beam creates sweeps. However, sweeps are unreliable due to the low speed and bulk. The EVs are used to outspend Aggron. Alternative max speed EVs with Timid nature can be used to tie max speed Bisharp. The choice in Hidden Power depends on the threat you are trying to kill. Fire hits Escavalier harder, while Fighting and Ground hit Aggron harder. Flash Cannon can be used for coverage, as Substitute is sometimes unneeded.

    Magneton pairs very well with pokemon that need Magneton to sweep. {{5glu|Lilligant}}, or other pokemon that often lack coverage moves that hit Steel types, are prime examples of this. Magneton can use Volt Switch to give a free switch to these Pokemon. Magneton often doesn't need support for it to work, as its primary job is not to sweep but to help sweep.
    ===Choice===
    {{set|name=Choice
    |pkmn=Magneton
    |nature=Timid|nature1=Modest
    |item=Choice Scarf|item1=Choice Specs
    |ability=Magnet Pull
    |ev=4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    |move1=Volt Switch
    |move2=Thunderbolt
    |move3=Flash Cannon
    |move4=Hidden Power Fire|move41=Hidden Power Ice|move42Hidden Power Ground}}
    This set behaves very similarly to the Steel Trapping set, though it uses a more direct method to kill Steels. Scarf set makes below average speed usable for revenge killing, and lets Magneton more safely kill faster Steels like {{5glu|Durant}}. Volt Switch gains a lot of momentum especially with Scarf, and avoids the locked move. The Specs set is meant to tear through Pokemon with the base 120 special attack. Hidden Power of choice depends on which coverage is wanted, or if Steel killing is more desirable. Flash Cannon used for a good STAB against Rock and Ice Types, mainly {{5glu|Cryogonal}} who takes more damage than expected from a Specs set.

    Analytic can be used with a slower, bulkier Specs set to deal massive damage, though it lacks the Steel killing potential Magnet Pull has. Because the Choiced sets have a more offensive role than the Steel killing role, a teammate that can kill Ground and Fire types is preferred to give Magneton some safety. Water types like {{5glu|Slowking}} are good partners.
    ===Specially Defensive===
    {{set|name=Specially Defensive
    |pkmn=Magneton
    |nature=Calm|nature2=Sassy
    |item=Eviolite
    |ability=Analytic
    |ev=252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
    |move1=Thunderbolt|move2=Discharge
    |move2=Flash Cannon|move21=Hidden Power Ice|move22=Thunder Wave
    |move3=Rest
    |move4=Sleep Talk}}
    This set utilizes Magnetons large number of resistances to be a good wall. Magneton resists BoltBeam, giving it an edge against most special attackers that use this combination. Eviolite boosts it's resistances enough to be a good enough wall for the tier. RestTalk is only form of recovery, which isn't prefered, but needed due to the low HP. Analytic is used to hit as hard as possible because of Magneton's low speed. Flash Cannon is used for STAB, while Hidden Power Ice is used for coverage. Thunder Wave can be used to slow down fast threats like {{5glu|Sceptile}}. Sassy can be used to make Analytic more effective.

    Magnet Pull can be used, though it does not take out Steels as well. This set pairs well with a Defensive Pokemon that resists Ground, Fighting or Fire, such as {{5glu|Uxie}} provide good defensive cores.
    ==Checks and Counters==

    Ground types, Volt Absorb, Lightning Rod and Motor Drive such as Lanturn Golurk and Quagsire are immune to Electric, and prevent Volt Switch, making it hard for Magneton to do its job. {{5glu|Manetric}} for example absorbs the Thunderbolt and KOs with Overheat. Ground type moves will almost always OHKO Magneton. Faster Fire, Fighting and Ground types, like {{5glu|Entei}} can revenge kill Magneton easily. Specially Bulky Pokemon like {{5glu|Munchlax}} tank hits, and Magneton has no way to set up outside of Charge Beam. {{5glu|Druddigon}} resists the STAB Thunderbolt and KOs with EQ or Superpower.

    ==Other Options==

    Signal Beam provides some coverage against Grass types, which HP Fire and Ice do as well. Hidden Power [Grass] can be used to hit {{5glu|Quagsire}} and {{5glu|Lanturn}} harder. Dual Screens, or Rain Dance are gimicky sets that can work for support. Air Balloon or Magnet Rise can be used as gimmicks to avoid the Ground weakness. Toxic can be used for constant damage over time on the defensive set.

    Looks good, I just have a few things I want to add:

    C&C - Quagsire walls everything unless you run HP Grass (i know it's mentioned in OO, but maybe it could be mentioned inC&C too...?)
    Sandslash walls everything but HP Ice and can set up hazards if Magneton does not have HP Ice. Same thing with Druddigon, except...without the hazards part. It just walls in general and can hit with x4 supereffective EQ.

    That's all I can think of, so it's pretty good!

    I kinda disagree with the Sandslash part. With its usual 252 HP / 0 SDef spread, it's still mauled by a Flash Cannon. It does stop Volt Switch, though, making it a decent check, I guess...

    This is why I didn't mention Sandslash. It's just a shitty poke in LU.

    70 Speed isn't terrible, especially with all the slow Steel-types. I might slash Specs over Scarf, or two seperate sets with Analytic for Specs.

    OO

    Thunder Wave on a bulkier set, or to slow offensive checks like Sceptile.

    C&C

    Lanturn's very specially bulky, resists Flash Cannon and HP Fire with an electric immunity. Breaks subs with Scald and uses Twave too
    Manectric - Immune to Electric and has Overheat to outspeed and OHKO
    Druddigon can OHKO with EQ or Superpower - Outrage isn't needed

    Nearly complete though, gj.
