Spiritomb is still in the same place that it was last month (Meloetta be damned). Omastar has taken a good bit of usage, going up by around 4%. Slowking and Uxie are still dominant Pokemon in LU. A lot of special attackers appear to be rising in response Nidoqueen's absence. Miltank continues its slow decent into NU, and Scyther appears to be rising quickly. Bravairy, Ludicolo, Absol, and Venomoth appear to be falling toward NU.
Surprised to still see the high usage of Spiritomb now that Meloetta is banned. I also would have liked to see more Scolipede now the Nidoqueen is gone. Toxic Spikes are really strong now. Moltres is getting the usage it deserves.
I'm kind of disappointed about Venomoths usage because the tier carries many Pokémon under the average base speed of 80 (Venomoths has 90) and the ability Wonder Skin can mean that Venomoth can 50% of the time avoid Lilligants Sleep Powder, either forcing a switch or hoping to sleep Venomoth before he sleeps her, allowing a BP set-up. Then again people aren't all that lucky in Pokémon. Oh well.
So wow, Druddigon has gotten a lot of usage, I really didn't see that coming. Escavalier and Aggron could use more usage, especialy now that Nidoqueen is gone. I'm also still not seeing why people like Clefable so much, but eh.
So Uxie is the king of the tier. Not surprised really, it's the best support Pokemon in LU. Druddigon's high usage is no surprise either, its typing is fantastic both offensively and defensively, and it hits like a truck. Nice to see that every spinner gets more usage than Sandslash, but Sandslash should be NU. Moltres and Scolipede should be used more though since they're awesome in LU. Surprised about Bisharp and Dusclops so low since they're both excellent Pokemon. Dusknoir sucks. There's no reason to use it. Go to NU pls. Roselia in LU range, finally, it's a great spiker. Needs more Houndoom. Not surprised about Absol in NU range since Bisharp outclasses it almost completely. Also why the fuck is Venomoth so low.
Jesus, gastro is SO low! wow, that is really surprising, I thought it would get more usage than that D: poor gastro :(
Drapion 3.95118 1434 That is the stat that matters. Honestly, Drapion is pretty decent in LU, but since it can't OHKO Slowking with Pursuit or Crunch, it really struggles to find a niche with Tomb being a better Pursuit user, while Toxic Spikes might be useful, to many of LU's Pokemon don't stay in for long enough to Poison to take effect.
Kinda surprised venamoth isn't used more; I've been toying around with it in UU and dayum. I'll try it in LU later, sleep powder+QD pass with good abilities and only a normal SR weakness. This is butterfree on steroids.
Yeah Drapion is pretty alright, but it's outclassed as an offensive Pokemon. As an SD sweeper, Scolipede is better thanks to its better Speed and much better STAB, and Bisharp has a higher Attack and priority Sucker Punch (and some useful resistances too). As a Pursuit user, you're better off with Escavalier or Krookodile (or Absol). Speaking of which, why isn't Krookodile in the Top 10? That thing wins me games, just give it Spikes support and it can win the game, sweeping whole teams like a complete boss. Needs more Lilligant too, pretty awesome sweeper.
The problem with Krookodile is the Scarf set (i.e. the only one worth using) has to be played extremely carefully. Lock yourself into Earthquake, you become set up fodder for anything Flying type or with Levitate. Lock yourself into Pursuit, it's too weak. Glad to see Clefable getting more recognition.
You'd be surprised just how good Banded and BU Krookodile sets can be. As for the stats, Hitmonchan seeing more and more usage kind of confuses me. I mean, it's a semi-decent spinner with some offensive presence, but very easy to counter and relatively slow and defensively poor. On the other end, Bisharp, Venomoth and Braviary all deserve a lot more usage for their ability to straight 6-0 unprepared teams. Interesting to see Gastrodon continuing its rapid descent into NU too.
Gastrodon deserves more usage, it has an immunity to water + electric attacks, decent coverage with it's dual stabs and access to recover, so it should be very easy to fit into mostly any team. Also it's specs set is very potent, being able to 2hko mostly the whole tier, and extremely threatening afer a storm drain boost. Also: It's exacty that mentality which makes E Belt Krook such a fantastic pokemon, nets an enormous amount of surprise KO's since near everyone expects it to be scarfed. And it does deserve it's usage thanks to it great ability and coverage.
I really like using Dusclops, and I'm surprised he's so low. He's an excellent spinblocker, as he can take on all three of LU's viable spinners (Kabutops, Cryogonal, Hitmonchan) one-on-one, and walls a number of threats such as Scolipede, Escavalier, Gallade, Hitmonlee, Durant, Scyther, and a lot more. Even if he's not guaranteed to beat Kabutops, he's the Ghost-type that stands the best chance of all of them in LU, and is a pretty good Pokemon in general. He's so insanely bulky that even things like Krookodile and Absol can't even OHKO him with their STAB moves. Will-O-Wisp is also excellent in weakening physical attackers. He hardly kills momentum for me tbh, and I've even managed to fit him on my offensive Spike-stacking team and he did great. Also, Trick Room Dusclops is amazing on TR teams. Overall Dusclops is great, definitely should be used more.
Dusclops is a Wall with abysmal HP, no offensive presence, and can't beat Kabutops 1v1. (Depending on the item). Dusclops is meh. It just has that 0 offensive presence that makes it bad. Spiritomb handles all the Spinners nicely. Maybe it isn't the best Spin Blocker, but at least it doesn't have to be a sitting duck. Trick Room Dusclops is amazing? Who says Trick Room itself is amazing. Dusknoir is much more potent for that slot, as Dusclops NEEDS RestTalk to shine, and actually live. I'm pretty sure Specs Rotom, Entei, Emboar, and a whole lot of other shit can beat it. Yeah, ok, it has good defenses, but I really don't want a Pokemon that can't do shit back apart from being essential death fodder in my eyes. It just doesn't do much in a game... I really dont have a good opinion for Dusclops, because it really is a bad Pokemon to me. It has great core support with Clefable, mind.
What happened to Pain Split for recovery? Also, when was Trick Room bad in LU? It was only bad when Cofagrigus left, though during that era, Trick Room was one of the best play styles. Now with another bulky Ghost to take its place, even though it lacks as much offensive presence, I can see Trick Room coming back. Slowking/Dusclops/Clefable/Tangrowth/Escav/Druddigon I could see working out.
Yeah, I was underwhelmed with Dusclops as well. That's mostly my playstyle - my teams don't have space for a pure wall. If they lack a phazing move, they're more often than not nothing more than set up fodder.
I've not used it personally, but i've seen others use it to great effect on stall/hazard stacking teams as it can usually beat rapid spinners by wisping them and then stalling them out with rest talk, and it can be very hard to take down if you don't have something with trick or a hard hitter like CB Entei.
Personally, with the plethora of other ghosts in the tier (Spiritomb, Rotom-A, Golurk, Dusknoir - not to mention that Misdrevus is viable) Dusclops finds itself not being used on your run-of-the-mill Hyper Offensive teams, who usually resort to a pokemon with offensive potential that doesn't wreck momentum (which all of the aformentioned pokemon have, bar Dusclops.) With Offense being the most common playstyle (as it seems to be in every BW tier), Dusclops really gets left out of the lope. Thus, making it get pretty mediocre usage. However, it's definetly worth giving a try on stall (see what Afro said.)
Hyper Offense really wants Rotom or Drifblim over any of the others, and Spiritomb or Golurk fit better on balance. Duskclops even faces competition from Misdreavus so there's really only space for it on Heavy Stall teams. it is a legitimate threat, but it requires a lot of consideration in building - it isn't splashable. That's the reason i think for having such low usage.
I tried it out, and Dusclops is really mediocre for my taste. It doesn't wall well due to awful HP, and it doesn't hit hard. The only sets I can see myself using are 252/252Def SDef Curse set, as that at least can kill one poke off and Trick Room. I agree that Spiritomb and Missreavus are much safer and worthwhile options as bulky Ghosts.
It really is just a wallflower. Dusclops would be much better even on heavy stall if it just got rocks or something, but the ability to burn is shared by many less niche pokemon(Spiritomb is arguably a niche pokemon but it's "niche" is much more widely usable across various teams) and it only has Toxic(Curse!!!) for other forms of passive damage. Plus there's the fact that missing Will-o-Wisp normally means death versus almost anything you could stay in on to burn. 3 or 4HKOing everything with Toss or Night Shade doesn't really do much for it either, especially since you're moving last and have no instant recovery outside Pain Split. Sad thing is, even if it had an attack stat there's simply not much it could do in LU. It just stumbles into the same pitfalls as Dusknoir does, despite the massive initial appeal that comes from its bulk.
