No -it is more powerful than its counterpart latias and should remain in uber, even without soul dew

Mr. Dragon Slayer Paul (Great name btw, I know an awesome guy named Paul), did you just seriously go through the trials and tribulations of making an account just to answer "yes" to a thread that in the end won't change anything regardless? If so, I commend you.

latias should definitely be OU v_v

i've never played dpp with latios allowed but i'd imagine it's manageable.

maybe latias. and during the retest, i found, mence is not brocken too. but i totally disagree with manaphy. there is not much, that can outspeed it without a scarf and then they have to deal with a quite bulky poke, with only two weaks, while pretty much everything expect blissey (what can do shit) will be ohkod after a boost.

Latios should not be OU in gen 4. I think that PO has proven that we are incapable of making good decisions about DP, and that we should leave past generations the fuck alone.

Lmao no. Latias was too powerful for OU, Latios is way too powerful. It's only solid check people use in OU is Scizor, that is spanked by HP fire, and TTar I guess which gets easily 2 hit by surf...

Way way too broken for OU.

    Manaphy:
    Manaphy is not manageable.

Just look at how effective sweepers like Suicune and Starmie are in the current metagame, neither has more special attack than manaphy and neither has access to tail glow. It's basically a super suicune! Then consider the fact that very few faster things can OHKO manaphy, only Jolteon and Raikou, who can't happily switch in, while none of the common scarfers can OHKO it. It's also not weak to any priority moves and resists bullet punch and ice shard. As an added bonus it weighs almost nothing so grass knot doesn't really hurt it either.

Base 100 speed is big in gen4! The fact it outspeeds Rotom huge and ties Zapdos, Shaymin and Celebi, who can't switch in comfortably to ice beam and they need max special attack to KO.

As for walling manaphy, these are the ONLY options in OU:
Blissey - Who loses to the 404hp sub tail glow set
Abomasnow - The best Manaphy check available and on the suspect ladder some people used Hp Fire just for the OHKO on Abomasnow.

NB. Toxic Spike support is ridiculously strong

It was repeatedly tested in the Salamence, Latias era and voted broken almost every single time, in the current metagame where water types are even more effective I fail to see how Manaphy would be anything but broken.
    [/HIDE]

    Latias
Latias it is just too good for the gen4 metagame. It's fast, bulky, great typing, great ability, great stab, great movepool. It can switch into so many pokemon, including tons of offensive threats. While it is pursuit weak, that really is it's only weakness.

The only way to handle Specs Latias is Blissey (who can be tricked) or to rely on Pursuit. I don't know if anyone remembers the Latias metagame but so many games would come down to a 50/50 pursuit prediction.

And look at current stall, unless you have scarf tar you just lose to CM Refresh Latias.

But it's most broken use in my opinion is on semi stall, Latias just plugs way too many holes allowing the rest of your 'stall' team to be way more offensive than it should be. Just look at the previous RMT's of Latias semi stall, those teams are stupidly scary for 'stall' teams.

There is a reason Latias was suspect tested BEFORE Salamence and it had nothing to do with the Dragon Steel metagame or the way it supported Salamence.

I get the feeling people only want Latias back so they can abuse it and that mindset is wrong.[/HIDE]

nope, people want latias back because it wasn't broken. "the only way to handle it is blissey or pursuit" "the only check people use for it is scizor" lmao really? i guess jirachi just doesn't exist or something. plus it is not nearly as hard to beat as you're making it out to be and it has a ton of checks that aren't exactly rare metagame choices.

stall teams without scarftar could easily handle cm refresh latias by phazing it out and then once it's the last mon perish songing it with celebi [which isn't used nearly as much as it should be] or tricking it with rotom... basically handling it like you would a lot of other last-mon setup pokes [crocune, curselax].

Last month perish song was used on 1.69 % of Celebi's, which basically means no one uses Perish Song Celebi and relying on trick is a terrible way to stop anything.

Also Jirachi is a shit check to Latias. It's 2hkoed by specs surf and it's slower. The Scarf Jirachi set I guess can switch into Draco meteor once and U-turn, but like I said it's so easy for Latias to switch back in. Jirachi is by no means a counter. Don't mention sp.def Jirachi, that set is so bad in gen4, where stall is super common and Sp.def Jirachi is not only dead weight but also phazing and entry hazard fodder. It also doesn't check much beyond Latias.

While I'm on the topic of Specs Latias with base 110 speed, it's one of the fastest things in the DPP OU. Instead of repeatedly saying that Latias has loads of resistances, great bulk and Levitate all allowing it to switch in really easily, I'm just going to name the OU pokemon that Specs Latias can not only completely safely switch into, but also force out allowing it to fire off specs Draco meteors, or Surf:

    - Heatran
    - Starmie with leftovers (which was the most used item on it last month)
    - Breloom
    - Gyarados
    - Suicune
    - Zapdos
    - Swampert
    - Celebi
    - Gliscor
    - Skarmory
    - Magnezone
    - Shaymin
    - Roserade
    - Vaporeon
    - Tentacruel
    - Hippowdon

Basically half the tier is a completely safe switch in for Latias, half the tier covered by one pokemon with an offensive moveset! If you see any of them and you have a Latias it's basically free momentum. Even though Latias is a great Infernape check I didn't put it on the list due to it's common use of U-turn. There is more stuff it can switch in on, but requires more prediction like Rotom and Lucario. It also owns basically all the UU pokemon that are used in OU. It can also switch into all the choiced users in OU once their locked into something it resists, or it predicts correctly.

The problem isn't just the typing, bulk and ability, it's also the speed, allowing it outspeed all the things it switches in and there there is the immediate threat that specs Draco Meteor poses to the tier. It's the most powerful Draco Meteor that gen4 OU has ever experienced.

It's only coverage move required is surf beating it's checks of Scizor, Tyranitar and 'Jirachi'. You mention all these other checks, but I really don't see them on the OU tier list.

Also consider that the main reason Latias was suspect tested was due to the Specs + Spikes combination as all of it's 'checks' are worn down by spikes. I'll re-state that this had nothing to do with Salamence or 3x Dragon, 3x Steel teams.

There are people who would argue that Latias is just as good as Latios in BW2. However everyone will agree that Latios is broken in gen4, but for some reason Latias is fine.

As I previously said, Latias on semi stall is retardedly effective, it plugs so many holes allowing semi stall to be mega offensive and in my opinion over powered. Scarf Latias is also the most annoying revenge killer in the game as it checks almost every single sweeper and it gets to use trick without worrying about 4 moveslot syndrome.

In summary, Latios is a fast, powerful, bulky Dragon and therefore it's broken.
