    Uhm, you don't get more points for a dead-game than a lose.
    It is pretty simple:
    Out of the three people in the tier, 1st place gets 5, second place gets 3, third place gets 1.
    An activity win is equivalent to a win, as a dead game is to a tie!
    (I am like 99% sure, but a TD could clarify - I'm sure!)
    ZodiaK might want to rethink his sudden activity rush
    Edit: according to east chat it is same as tie, according to post below is 0
    Not sure...
    Edit2: Yeah, I agree with TiWSS - needs more clarification

    Rank 1 gets 5 points, Rank 2 gets 3 points and Rank 3 gets 1 point.

    T1 gets 4 points, T2 gets 2 points. T1 = tie in first place. T2 = Tie in second place.

    Dead game = 0 points.

    Zodiak was just going off information I had given him, which is what I had been told by Soren. Problem is, Royalty told me something different, and it's never really been clarified or stated anywhere. More excellent directing.

    It would be nice to hear how points work out IN DETAIL

    A) soren should clarify how points work and the different circumstances because his layout kind of sucks. And royalty messed up calculating points for the week before which hopefully soren has rectified on something. Although I'm sure there is still somethings that need to be worked out I'm sure.

    B) As for zodiak/zorodark, well moet got subbed immediately, zoro contacted the sub, got no response as did 2chainz, and now you both had a day and a half to contact each other as the sub was made 1 PM our time 11 am yours. While zoro's had about 5 days waiting for an OU player to be active and no can't on the weekend, he's obviously been more active than anything the disarray of west has been, and leaving it to the last day to try and snipe and activity win honestly is not something we're settling for. You had 5 days to do this but your captain starts and subs in 2 inactive people waiting til near the very last day.

    C) It should be posted about how going about activity works, because a lack of VMs and a lot of posting in here does not help at all for getting activity and leads to dead games. As well as a lack of screenshots proving an attempt to contact on the server. Obviously dude24 probs is going off his own merit for it, but something should be said instead of pointless activity posts and no proof of contacting the opponent in attempts to snipe wins via late activity.

    D) Soren, no offense but the hosting and clarity of the rules does not work well when the person who came up with the set up is obviously participating. Help settle this before it falls out badly, and ends up like last year with eternal hosting + playing and not clarifying stuff.

    So, you're seeking for reasons why the substitution rule in the Qualifying Round is implemented that way. Since I have literally no administrative power over this one for I'm involved in this tournament, you have to unfortunately understand it yourself. In Smogon's WCOP Qualifiers, it's pretty much the same substitution rule, and you say that sucks as well? >.<

    For the Week 1 Standings, Matchups, etc., it has been done incorrectly, and I hope Dude reviews everything and it will be resolved in the end.

    One win + one loss > One win + one dead game.
    One win + one dead game > two losses.

    That's the reason why battles have to be done within one week, especially for Case #1--dead games will pull its weight down.

    No, it's not the same substitution rule. In Smogon's WCoP R1, it doesnt matter if the player played one or two of the 3 games, he always can be subbed out.

    I wasn't aware that Smogon WC has the same substitution rule as they don't. You can be subbed out after playing a match there.

    Also my comment on the Zoro/Zodiak situation.

    TIWSS originally starts an inactive player, ok that can be understood and he does sub him out early in the week. Problem is he subs in a player that is also inactive and lets that go until the weekend, despite having an active sub that can play every single day that Zoro is active. It is not Zoro's fault that he was busy this weekend. He put his due diligence into getting the match done and it is entirely West's fault that they weren't able to get a viable sub in while Zoro was able to play.

    If we could have a nice clear you get x points for x thing it would be great.

    can you elaborate on what points those get at least? ok so 2 wins = 5 points, one win and one loss can assume to be the 3 points, 2 losses = 1 points. How do these weigh downs affect how points are split? What is the exact way it's done? Basically can you give us the number split? Or are you meaning that is how it's affecting the placing?

    That's how it's affecting the placing.

    Case 1:

    X = 1 W / 1 D
    Y = 1 L / 1 D
    Z = 1 W / 1 L

    Therefore, player Z gets 5 points, X gets 3, and Y gets 1.

    Case 2:

    X = 1 W / 1 D
    Y = 1 W / 1 D
    Z = 2 L

    Therefore, Players X and Y get 4 points, while Z gets 1.

    From what I understand if there are dead games the point system works like this...

    Player 1 Vs Player 2 Vs Player 3

    Player 1 beats Player 3
    Player 2 beats Player 3
    Player 1 has deadgame Vs Player 2

    Result:

    Player 1: 4 Points
    Player 2: 4 Points
    Player 3: 1 Point

    Please correct me if this is wrong, I think a lot of people can benefit from knowing this.

    Correct.

    Unless captains analyze the Week 2 match-ups and results spreadsheet (it's now accurate as of the moment, unless beyond-deadline issues)... Oh, well, it's my fault. :I

    As far as the point system: I know what Soren says, but when Royalty is hosting and tells me to ignore what Soren says it makes it really hard to tell what's what. I'd like the host (Dude24) to make a clear decision.

    For Zodiak vs Zoro, I think an extension is reasonable. I don't think Zodiak deserves an activity win, but I don't think Zoro does either. If Zoro had made it clear he wouldn't be free this weekend then it might be a different situation, but this wasn't the case. So if no extension is granted then a dead game seems fair to me.

    Just throwing this out there but it's really not fair to pin blame on APC for knowing the point system. Frankly its not that hard to understand if you spend 5 minutes reading and understanding the rules. I guess that means Canada has an advantage too.

    In other news well done to my Canadian team, we've put up good results so far, keep it up!

    EDIT: Confirming that PK Gaming lost to Saammyy earlier this evening

    Here's how points work:

    Player A: 2 wins
    Player B: 1 win; 1 loss
    Player C: 2 losses

    So, Player A gets 5 points, Player B gets 3 points and Player C gets 1 point

    If there are ties, you add up the points and divide by the number of players tied.

    Player A: 1 win; 1 loss
    Player B: 1 win; 1 loss
    Player C: 1 win; 1 loss

    5 + 3 + 1 = 9
    9 / 3 = 3

    So, Player A gets 3 points, Player B gets 3 points and Player C gets 3 point

    Player A: 1 win; 1 dead or loss
    Player B: 1 win; 1 dead or loss
    Player C: 2 losses

    5 + 3 = 8
    8 / 2 = 4
    The 1 remainder point goes to player C

    So, Player A gets 4 points, Player B gets 4 points and Player C gets 1 point

    Player A: 1 win; 1 dead
    Player B: 1 loss; 1 dead
    Player C: 1 win; 1 loss

    So, Player A gets 3 points, Player B gets 1 points and Player C gets 5 point

    Player A: 2 wins
    Player B: 1 dead; 1 loss
    Player C: 1 dead; 1 loss

    2 + 2 = 4
    4 / 2 = 2

    So, Player A gets 5 points, Player B gets 2 points and Player C gets 2 points

    A loss weighs higher than a dead game.

    Around 2 hours and 45 minutes to go, get them done.

    Lmao.

    Soren made the point system, Royalty told me he was using a different one. Apparently you're good at reading the format but couldn't read my posts! Thanks for passively implying I'm an idiot when you don't understand the situation.

    I think the rules need to be clarified by the host and then don't change them anymore. This is my guess (Rank 1 gets 5 points, Rank 2 gets 3 points and Rank 3 gets 1 point.

    T1 gets 4 points, T2 gets 2 points. T1 = tie in first place. T2 = Tie in second place.

    Dead game = 0 points.)

    Someone may like them, others don't, but same rules applied to everyone are not harsh.

    I dont like dead games, i dont like activity wins and i dont like extensions. My players that dont play or dont contact their rivals are not playing anymore for LA for the rest of the tournament.

    The tournament is to see which country/region is better, not to win by default.

    Come on guys it's a game, play your battles and just have fun.

    He means player C gets 5 points cause 1 loss weighs more than 1 dead.

    Dude edit: damn typo, thanks

    Not making a big thing out of this but its stated in Rule 3 of the OP of each round of this tournament. Whatever Royalty told you unless there's an official announcement you should be going off the rules in the OP of the tournament thread.

    The game isn't won because you played the match, but because you put forth the effort to play it. yes there should be activity wins. in cases of dead games there is no fast way for the TD to decide who had the better activity so somebody is going to get screwed. Alright, I'm not going to sit here and let somebody who didn't even put forth the same effort as me into the match tie with me just because the match didn't get played. if I had my way it would've gotten played. If the region doesn't have players who are willing to put forth the effort, then obviously they're not the best region

    Also players should be anxiously engaged in trying to battle. we all need to take a leaf out of Callous' POCL book and activity out of this. no more of this last day crap, and no shutting up at the last day just to try and claim an activity win based off the rest of the week either. this tournament isn't about the players it's about the team, so the players need to get off they're lazy butts and put the effort into helping they're team succeed. people that only post in here just to say they won/lost need to gtfo. activity is where this tournament is won. you can't play if you're not active and every captain should either encourage your players to post in here to confirm their matchups before they happen or sub them out. if you don't have enough people, then it sucks to be you. you were the people complaining about wanting your own team and you should've taken that into consideration when you were saying you had "enough" people.

    The TDs are NOT to blame. Each week there's 72 and 90% are being done on the last day because of people who like to wait until the last minute. Schedule you matches ASAP people.

    Sorry for the rant, but it had to be said. Also sorry for any grammatical mistakes

    huh?

    Does this mean that getting a dead game is less beneficial compared to a loss? Shouldn't player A be the one with 5 pts?

    A dead game is indeed less beneficial. The system rewards players for completing their matches, and further rewards them for winning. It discourages dead games and johning in general because dead games are significantly more likely to lose you points.

    In regards to bracket scoring, a win is worth 2 points, a loss 1 point, and a dead game zero points.

    So in the above scenario:

    Player A: 1 win; 1 dead (receives 2 points for a win)
    Player B: 1 loss; 1 dead (receives 1 point for a loss)
    Player C: 1 win; 1 loss (receives 2 points for a win and 1 point for a loss, total of three points)

    And thus are ranked C>A>B (5 points>3>1).

    As you can see, completing your matches is crucial.

    edit: incidentally this is also reflected in the 'TP' or total points category on the statistics spreadsheet.

    Yes, a dead game isn't supposed to be beneficial towards the players. Getting a loss weighs more since the players actually met and battled.

    Edit: Too slow..

    Deadline has gone and doesn't seem like many battles are getting done so will lock this thread and deal out activity / deads now. Still haven't received all line-ups from captains.
