We should start basic, and i'm redoing my app. Here's my application: Server Name: Hobbes2 Timezone: EST Areas of the project you would like to help with: Other Mafia Channels, Nonpeak themes Experience with Mafia: Almost 2 years now On a scale to 1-10, how good would you say your grammar is?: 9 Let's get this thing re-rolling! I'll work on it today, even.
Guide to Fire Emblem: http://piratepad.net/ep/pad/view/ro.v$P4AZcDMAk/latest EDIT: My guides to FF and Geass will likely be slightly late. I've had a busy work week and FE took up more time than I expected it to given the fact that it's the theme with 9001 sides and roles. I'll have them Tuesday/Wednesdayish.
Don't tell me I'm too late with the app 'cause I ain't! Anyways, here goes! Server Name: macrarazy, Hayne Vineyard Timezone: GMT (+5) Areas of the project you would like to help with: (The topics go here. Try to refrain from saying all topics, as that would be very tough. Focus on taking 3 max, and helping out more when done with your first areas) BMPG (Basic Mafia Playing Guide), Theme Reviewing/Critique; I will apply for QC when am good enough in it! Experience with Mafia: 3 (and a half) years to be exact On a scale to 1-10, how good would you say your grammar is?: 9.5
rooooy well posting this anyways (4th August and all): Mafia Glossary of Terms that you might not know Spoiler Mafia Glossary There are a number of terms that appear in mafia that confuse even an experienced player. This glossary is a compilation of them so if you don’t understand a word, just jump on back here and work out what it means. A B Bandwaggon When lots of people follow a vote mainly. This can be both good and bad. Good as can overcome any scum votes against the original vote but then bad as mostly a bandwagon is one where the majority do not think before voting and scum can take this as an opportunity to rand important PRs. Body Guard/BG The BG is a shortening of the Body Guard and even though this derives from the default mafia theme it applies for almost all themes due to body guards in each. The Term “BG me” is an extension of this as when an inspector claims for instance it is the body guard’s duty to protect him. The usual command is /protect [name]. Buss/Bussing Where a team member tries to distance themself from another team member, sometimes by voting them, sometimes by trying to make them look bad. Remember though in accordance to mafia rules both team members must agree to this tactic before pursuing. C Citizen/Citi The Zelda form of the Villager Counterclaim A claim in response to another. Mainly done in a situation where two people claim the same role. D Default The default mafia theme where the village led by the inspector or samurai faces the Mafia gangs and the werewolfs. E F Fakeclaim A fakeclaim is saying that you are one role when in fact you are lying. It’s a claim that is fake. Usually made by scum members as not really in towns interest to lie however see meatshielding. G H Hax Some roles have a chance to spy upon an action being used and additionally sometimes the person who used it. This way sides can work out the power roles faster with good and bad effects for both. “Spamming for Hax” for example is a way that some power roles can find their comrades without actually needing to claim in the chat. I Inspector/Insp The Insp is another shortening of a default role: the inspector. They can find out a person’s role using /inspect usually however be warned of the miller! J K Kefka The fast killer from FF that kills through Body Guards. Even though Kefka itself only appears in FF the term is used also for other fast killers like Ninjask in Hoenn. Kuja Kuja is a role in FF that can outvote everyone else in that theme. Like Kefka it is used as a broad term for other huge voters like Kronos in Mythlogy. L Lonk The secondary name for Link in the Zelda theme. Someone accidently pressed the ‘o’ instead of the adjacent ‘I’ once a long long time ago I believe. M Meatshielding A meatshield is where one role, usually one like a villager, will pretend to be an important Power Role to draw the fire towards themself. Usually done in a situation where it is impossible for the PR in question to claim safely. Read the Meatshielding thread for more details as there is a fine line between a proper meatshield and trolling. Miller A miller is one term commonly used for a role that reveals as a bad guy to the inspectors. These are on the village side however are voted off usually due to them appearing to be the mafia. Also a term used by the mafia as a way to show they are innocent, be wary of such claims. Moogle/Moog/Kupo The FF form of the villager, Kupo is the sound that it and some people use that to claim. N No vote at 4 No vote at 4 is a tactic employed so that one team can have a higher chance of winning in the next day by forcing mafia to kill and reduce the chances of a misslynch from 2/3 to 1/2. Also known as Mylo (misslynch and loose) however that is more town based whilst NV@4 can be applied to lots of cases. Non-Peak Themes These are themes that can be played with small numbers of people mainly ranging from about 3 to 10. They differ from other themes due to them starting at 3 as opposed to 5 making them ideal for small numbers of players. Themes like Dethy, Lyncher etc. O OMGUS Insult or just reaction to something being done to you. An OMGUS vote would be if you voted someone because they voted you. P Power Role/PR A Power Role or PR for short is a role that is on the village side and has actions that need connecting. Examples are the Inspector, Bodyguard, Pretty Lady, Vigilante etc. These roles are usually more valuable to the village than the villagers are which is why they need connecting. The exception to it being the “village only” is ClanWar and such themes where roles will claim to find their teammates, also calling for PR’s e.g. “East Inspector here PR’s PM.” (Wants East roles in that case) Pretty Lady/PL The PL is a shortening of Pretty Lady in the default mafia theme which can /distract players. This applies to most themes as a PL is present and “PL’d” and “PL on ‘x’” are common uses of this abbreviation. PL’s stop a person from using their night action. Private Message/PM A PM or Private message is how the connection between the power roles usually occurs. Q R Rand This stands for a random vote. It is one where people vote without any actual knowledge really. A person voting with information from an inspector or exposer for instance doesn’t constitute a rand. S Samu/Samurai A samurai is the revealing daykiller in the Default Mafia theme on the village side. T Team Kill/TK When members of the same team take each other out is called a team kill. If your team is known to you then this is against the rules however if team not known e.g. ClanWar or Castle it is totally acceptable to take unconfirmed team mates out. Additionally this is very humorous to the other players though not for you or the one you just killed so overall there is a fine line between team killing and /rules. Theme A mafia theme is a what that match will be in the style of. Instead of having just one type to play, like default, there are many themes that one can choose to start with /starttheme [theme]. Lots of themes means people don’t get bored of the same one over and over. TOOMESP TOO MANY ESPEON! When someone starts lots of games in a row. U V Villager/Villi A Villager or a shorter villi is a role that usually only has 1 vote and that’s about it. Some may have a convert action like Stem Cells however this is the limit. Vigilante/Vigi Vigi the shortening of Vigilante is the killer on the village side. W X Xfire Cross Fire or xfire for short is when baddies take out each other instead of the more numerous (generally) village peoples. Y Z I'll probably think of loads more and I might do an entry for each theme as well but this is the bones of the glossary, hf
I'll just put this here awooo, also, I'll prob be editing it a bit when I get more time, so this is just whim stuff atm Should I start on Guides now? or wait for feedback? edit: alright, so pastebin is down for me atm, so here's also my piratepad: http://piratepad.net/0P7z21F0sz I'm keeping a backup also, so you guys can build on this if you'd like
Not too sure, right now. Maybe Hobbes and I will review what is needed. This has a bunch of small parts, we just need to get it in one big thing now.
There are a lot of old mafia threads as well that might be of use, might have a sift through for some of the better ones
I'm down for that, @ Roild. Also, Me and Roy were working on the advanced tactics page with Roild, I'll try and finish that up asap. These are looking good, hopefully it'll get done at some point.
