    Hi guys, Flonne here! I'm bringing to you a theme that can be NonPeak or in normal games, which is decided by you, the QC peeps. This theme is not really the norm, similar to Space Invaders and Vanilla. Hope you enjoy!

    Role Descriptions and Explanations:
    There are two roles that start in a game. They are the Bomber and the Passer. The Bomber has a command, /bomb (once per three nights), that allows him to convert someone to the 'poisoned' version of that role, and they'll die the next night. This is done through initial condition. Say the Bomber bombs a Passer, that passer will become a poisoned passer. He will die the next night if he doesn't pass the bomb in time. Passers have an ability which allows them to pass the initial condition to someone else while using copy to make himself clear of poison. The poison is then successfully passed to another person. However, the Passers also have another command: Dodge. Dodge allows them to safeguard themselves for the night so they can evade someone giving the bomb. If someone tries to pass him the bomb while he dodges, the person with the bomb will explode. How do the Passers defeat the Bomber? Well, they must pass the bomb to the Bomber, and then dodge the next turn to kill him. The fact that Passers can either dodge or pass once per night is crucial. Everyone may think that dodge is an obvious superior choice, but remember that Passers can also be passed the bomb. If you dodge while the Passers try to pass it to you, what happens? They die. Then, you have less people to work with, making it harder for your team.
    Many will complain that it will take too long, and as such, each phase except the voting phase lasts 10 seconds. This will make it a game of reflexes. Also, the Bomber has an infinite amount of bombs in his arsenal, so he can keep sending more and more bombs. Let's say it's down to three players, the Bomber and two Passers, it may seem like a stalwart, but in fact, the voting phase is still in play. If there are just a Bomber and a Passer left, then the Passer loses automatically.

    Strategy:
    "This theme is full of luck!"
    That's what I expect in the comments. No worry, I don't blame you, but if you dig a little deeper, there still is a bit of strategy. It shares some similarities with Vanilla in this aspect. It all boils down to whether Passers decide to pass the bomb or dodge. Since Passers can't use dodge night one, it is inevitable that someone gets poisoned night one, bar the fact that Bomber is afk. Since Bomber will definitely either claim as a Passer or don't speak at all, both of which Passers will probably do too, no one will really know who's bad at first. However, Passers need to work together to win. Say A has the bomb. He should PM B and ask him to pass it back to A that night when A passes it to him. If you get the bomb back, you should probably do it 2-3 times to confirm it. This is because Bomber cannot pass, and he can try to fake pass by giving you a bomb, but he can only bomb once per three turns! By passing it back and forth, you are cleaning each other. Then, you can branch out to even more people. This is one strategy I suggest. There are probably many more.

    Most importantly, will this work better as a NonPeak theme or a normal theme? Both ways will be fine. I expect some controversy over this theme like most other 'gimmick' themes, but I hope you will see that it's not all luck.

    It actually seems pretty balanced, I can see problems happening when people don't know how it works at first but it has much more though in it than vanilla.

    Also I love the concept, the role names could be a little more creative, and you could also maybe add in a self sided guy that's immune with a 1.1 vote, or give villies or bomb an extra vote or do like in minesweeper where the first vote doesn't count or something.

    The spawn lists make bomb look very underpowered though.... though I may be proved wrong, look what happens in vanilla.

    On a sidenote I can easily see a lot of stall where the village safeguards every night.... maybe make them not able to use it twice in a row?

    I agree that the role names are horrible, but flavour comes second and balance first, so that'll come later. I don't feel like adding in some NAesque guy. Maybe in big games. @the second point, do you mean a voteshield? I'm not really sure. I want to make it as simple as possible (ironic as it seems, cuz all the roles are quite long lol).


    Bomb is less underpowered than you think. The more Bombers there are, the easier it is to find partners (if they play badly). Rands make it obvious.
    The village can't safeguard on the first night, so someone will die if everyone guards and the poor guy has no one to pass to. Like, sacrificing a poor Passer for your own safety? :(
    Well, usually selfish people (like dem Bunkers) will safeguard themselves. Hopefully we have less selfish people. Come on, for the spirit of Mafia! <3

    Perhaps that could give you some ideas for the gameplay and flavour.

    BTW, why do some roles description say you can use /pass every 4 nights when there are no recharge at all?

    Why can't the poisoned bomber still make new bombs?
    The unpoisoned passer doesn't really make sense. While i don't fully understand Copy, that pass command just poisons someone who wasn't already poisoned or turns a bomber2 into a villager.
    This theme is going to take forever due to everyone being able to safeguard themselves. Why choose to pass when you can just dodge the whole time?
    I would give dodge a recharge so people don't just spam it.
    Bomber should be restricted on bomb or pass as well.
    I would give more people time to stuff in general.

    I really don't see this theme working out and I told you that when you first told me the idea. I might be wrong about it though. The taking forever thing is really what bothers me. While you have cut down the cycle to under a minute it still seems to take a long time. I also think they need more time to do night actions. Also, with the limited amount of time to talk there is almost no way to communicate and clean yourself by talking and being logical. I would say this theme is about luck and spamming commands since you only have time to do your commands, you barely have time for that, and voting. Voting is sadly the only guaranteed way to get someone out of the game and that itself isn't always reliable if people don't agree with each other. People are going to be forced to vote at 4 because it could take forever for someone to get a bomb out there or passed to them.[/HIDE]

    Non-Peak theme edition:
    I don't think you coded the bomber2's pass correctly since they don't actually pass the bomb.
    Time is also a problem people need more time to talk and do their night actions.
    The bomb doesn't seem to convert people to be actually poisoned.
    Dodge should have some sort of recharge or something so people don't just spam it.

    This theme is not so time restricted since it is a small game but then at the same time it could still take forever. This is all about luck and if you pay attention. People are going to spam the dodge command so that they never get poisoned. The short night and day times doesn't allow people the chance to get any real information to make an educated rand. I think you coded some of the commands wrong too but I am not 100% sure about that.[/HIDE]

    Yeah, I was going to say "Rice made this like a month ago" but he beat me to it.

    Remember Space Invaders before charges were added? Same thing here. People are really selfish in mafia for some reason. I can't tell you how many times aliens win n1 because all the bunkers decide that someone else will protect the laser cannon, even in games of 20 people.

    "Gimmick" themes tend to be extremely finicky with balance. When you make them you feel like "omg this is the most creative thing evar," and you figure out all these strategies and make up a ton of cool scenarios. Then when you test them you realize that that's not how mafia channel operates at all. Case in point: Shadows.

    This feels like a nonpeak theme to me. Don't see it working when there's more than 10 people. I do this a lot, but let's test [1] this when no one's on and see how it works out.

    I don't see the once every two nights thing. I do like the new changes thus far so. I still have my doubts about the theme in general though. I still think it is going to take to long. You also need to keep the lynch in there because it is the only thing that is truely reliable to take a player out of the game.

    Does this part not turn the bomber into just a normal passer thus not allowing them to ever make bombs again?

    This seems to just only turn already poisoned people into poisoned people but I don't believe it will reset the poison count and they will still die regardless. That is the same problem for bomb it doesn't have bomber or passer anywhere in the code.

    On a side note. why do you have two pastebins? You could just make this a giant theme and have nonpeak as roles1 and peak as roles2. It doesn't really matter, I am just curious.

    Fixed, but why will it take too long? Eventually the bomb will get the players, right? How about let us test it? Then we can see how long it takes and make the changes accordingly. :)

    so this is really cool. I could see the passers/dodgers having a hard time with this, but the fact that there's only one bomber makes it a bit easier on them. I have to agree with beast about dodge being abused pretty heavily, but tbh a mass dodge is the only way to ensure the bomber has a chance of not winning

    also this would never work in a mid or large game setting, it would just take forever

    If I am not mistaken then with this priority someone can be converted and then you /pass to the same person the entire game thus never being killed.

    I am not sure if it was made clear but the /bomb command doesn't actually work, like i said it wouldn't. :P That is the main concern for the theme at the moment. If the main mechanic of the theme doesn't work then the theme is useless.

    There is some kind of problem with the code, you can see the logs here.

    I don't know exactly why the code isn't working, let me try to explain it to see if I had understood.

    Everything starts with the "bomber" using /bomb on someone, while "passer" can do nothing with the /pass command n1, but can try to /dodge. If "bomber" successfully converts a "passer" (which will be everyone but him, so I guess it's not needed that part that says he can convert the "bomber2" into "bomber2" - btw, I guess the problem is that it's not stated that he can convert the role "passer" into "passer2", only "passser2" on themselves, maybe this was the issue - and, since there will be no bombers but the only bomber, I guess it is unnecessary to make him able to convert "bomber" or "bomber2"), they'll become "passer2", if he fails (possibly because the /dodge was used, they must wait 2 other days for them to convert once more - a flaw!!! - I'd suggest you to give a initial recharge for /dodge, to prevent the game to start later). When they are successful on bombing someone into "passer2", these must use their command /pass to copy someone (you'd add the other possibilities to "copyAs", for they to become "passer" when they target any role - btw, will they be able to get rid of the bomb, if they target someone who is already "holding" another bomb? If so, add the "bombed" roles as well to this list) and to convert their targets (which is lacking a code for they to convert "bomber" and "passer" into "bomber2" and "passer2"). And this will be repeated until someone can't pass their bombs for any reason.

    For /dodge to be nerfed, I'd recommend there was a fail chance - perhaps something between 20 and 40% - instead of charges. Or maybe both! Strategy, but something luck dependent :) The concern I have with the charges is that the bomber may become overpowered if he doesn't die early game.

    Is it right?

    If so, I'd reccomend you to follow the suggestions and/or wait someone with more coding experience than me to see if I didn't say anything wrong.

    I hate failchance with a fiery passion, just give it a recharge or a certain amount of total charges and call it a day. this allows for some sort of resource management without luck getting too involved

    haha fuzzy, believe it or not it works in SI where people actually conserve their protects in order to benefit the LC in the late game

    and I agree with the above as well, although seeing "you have 1 day to live" is usually a telltale sign that you're gonna die soon.

    And I finally fixed it! Finally. Alright, I'm up for a test. I'm really interested in seeing how a big game would turn out :]
    Edit: First game, it didn't work. Second game, after I fixed it, it didn't work. Not the code's problem, cuz the bomber was too slow to type in /bomb [name], so ye. Dammit. Horrid games.
    I really need to test it in a private server where i can /push people to see if it really works.

    Edit2: Beast helped me fix it. It does work, except that sometimes the bomb disappears. Seemingly an error for the POscripts itself.

    Edit3: Amazing! Everything was amazing. It was a great game, village-bomb ratio wins was 1:1. Everyone loved it, as did I. :)

    As the bomber lost 5 out of 5 games we played today, and so I gave him a guard. He ended up winning 2 of 3 games. The fact that the passers will know if they passed it to a bomber annoys me, though. Ugh.

    Everyone enjoyed playing it, though. People need to stahp stealing NonPeak ideas from that mafia place site thingy, needs moar creativity~

    Angel Flonne, from what I've experienced while playing Bomb, it's been unfair to the bomber, possibly because it's still too slow. To make it fast paced and more balanced, I'd recommend lessening the ticks- right now, it's way too easy for passers to coordinate and they can afford a few bad passes. With maybe only 10 night ticks and 15 day ticks (or seconds, w/e), the bomber already knows what to do and won't be hurt if he/she misses the first night, while passers will be more challenged in having to pass/dodge quickly while reading the chat for hints as to who the bomber could be.

    15-player game started at 18:05:41 and was forcibly ended at 18:27:45, at which point a stalemate had already been going on for nearly 10 minutes.

    We just had end a 15 player game that lasted to day 38 and had lasted about 23 minutes.

    That obviously can't happen. I'm open to this being tested for nonpeak but without serious changes I don't think the peak version will be able to uploaded.

    A possible way to fix the endless stall:

    Have a Bomber's /pass with higher priority than Passer's /pass.
    Make it that you can't /pass or /bomb to someone already holding a bomb (both commands shouldn't be able to convert/copy passer2, and maybe bomber2 too).

    This way, Bomber can't pass to the same person forever, or the pass would fail and the bomber would get exploded instead.

    You really need to find a way to cut down on the time the theme takes. Maybe add in another bomber. that would allow two bombs to be put out at the same time. If you do this you should not let bombed people pass to another bombed person. My verdict of decline is still going to stand since as i suspected the theme takes ages to finish.

    add in a bomber at about, say, 10 players?
    Update as and when you feel like, as I've updated it. Hopefully no bork. Inb4 everyone hates my theme now :(
