So I know a few people in Indigo has read this manga so I wanted to see if more people read it. I know some people might think the manga would be super corny and lame like the anime, however you guys are wrong. The storyline in this manga is very superb and it follows the game's plot. The cool thing is that actually do some crazy stuff with the characters such as: Lt. Surge, Koga, and Sabrina are all part of Team Rocket, a Kanto vs Johto Gym Leader tournament, etc. I can't strongly recommend this enough. If you are a diehard Pokemon fan or simply are bored as hell and want something to occupy your time...This is it. http://mangafox.me/manga/pocket_monster_special/ or http://www.mangahere.com/manga/pokemon_adventures/
I've been wanting to watch for these for a long while, and could only find scraps of chapter here and there, which didn't help me much.. When i finish my oral exams, im sure to take a good look at these (Mask of Ice is awesome)
I have read Kanto so far. It is definitely darker than the games as well. It is very interesting and there are some parts that really get your heart pumping or make you laugh. I would recommend anyone read them. To be caught up is going to take a little bit of time though.
I've know basically what happens in the Manga, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the storyline, they do a lot more 'hardcore' things with the Pokemon and especially the trainers. I really wish the anime would follow in it's footsteps.
As with most other things Pokemon-y, RSE is my favorite. But if there's one thing I like about the manga, it's that its romantic subplots are a lot further developed than the cartoon's. I'm always a sucker for romantic subplots. It's only too bad even those romantic subplots there are STILL aren't that developed :P Great reads, though. Yellow, Ruby, and Sapphire are prob my favorite chars, though Emerald is cool too for peeing on everything. Personally didn't like DPP as much. Probably because the previous Pokedex holders didn't make an appearance, and all the gym leaders were younger and/or shallower than I would've wanted.
Yeah, this. They really need to get those characters together with some of the older ones sometime. Although don't get me wrong, I love the dpp chapters. Diamond and Pearl are awesome characters.
Diamond is probably one of my favorites. Especially when he shows himself to be a badass in front of Pearl. I loved that scene.
The manga has always been one of those things that I've heard many good things about but never checked out. Where would you say be a good starting point for someone who wants to check it out?
@DarkDragoon How about from the beginning? :P Personally, I started when a friend gave me a random volume of the manga that was smack-dab in the middle of the Ruby-Sapphire arc. I followed up with reading some Serebii character descriptions and chapter summaries, and eventually someone gave me a link to read the manga. I first started and finished RSE, then I moved on to read the other regions as well.
I recommend following it in order because they all tie in together with the games. Also each of the Pokedex holders (Red, Blue, Green (This is the name of the rival in our Red and Blue versions because the original versions that were released in Japan were Red and Green. Don't call him Blue!) all meet up and have epic battles especially in the Yellow volume. But yeah, start out from the beginning.
I also decided to ask one of my childhood friends about it and he also recommended me to start from the beginning as well. So I guess I'll be checking it out soon.
Actually in the english version of the manga Blue is named Blue and not Green, he is only named Green in Japan. Also I have read this manga and it's really great, the storyline is darker but really interesting.
I thought Blue was the girl. Red is main character, Yellow is empath cutie, Blue is femme fatale, Green is Rival. That's what I recall.
What Darklight said is true basically because the English version of the manga used the name Blue for Green (again originally named Green due to the Pokemon Green version). I prefer to use original names so I usually stick with Green as the rival. It's just personal preference really.
