Looks like a beaver for a Water starter, a crescent moon with a Celebi head and the top half of a maple leaf on its tail for a Fire starter, and a pig version of Turtwig for the grass starter. At least, that's what I see. My typings could be wrong, as could my descriptions.
It's very hard to tell though. We could be off by a mile. Lol, who knows. Also, if you look REALLY close in the dark area, you can somewhat see how these Pokemon look like.
If you zoom up the image, you can see small details like the big eye of the piglike pokémon. It might just be random noise and nothing real though.
yea, that is what I would say, there are too many variables to make slight shadows discernible from the picture
The Player characters in this look way to generic. As for these starters, personally, i'm not feeling 'em at all. As a whole, I think Gen 5 might surpass expectation, but if anything, I think game freak should've waited until the new installment of nintendo's handhelds came out.

Spoiler FIRE PIG FIRE PIG FIRE PIG FIRE PIG FIRE PIG FIRE PIG FIRE PIG I'm guessing Water/Ice, Grass/Psychic and Fire/Dark. So, we're gonna have a poor man's Lapras, a poor man's Celebi, and a poor man's Houndoom. Great. But still... FIRE PIG! I WANT! Also, the player characters look older than usual... Is this set after DPPHGSS? If it is... I had better still be alive, and I better be in this game.
According to 2ch: Grass/Fighting, Fire/Dark, and Water/Psychic. I'd take this with a grain of salt. Coro Coro states that the main characters are older than the usual ones debuting in games. The region is called Isshu or something and it's supposed to be distant from the existing regions. From the looks of things, it seems like a booming metropolis compared to rural Johto. It's also worth noting that Serebii.net stole the scans and cropped off the Pokebeach.com. Haha.
Honestly, the grass pokemon looks like he might be electric which would be nice. Grass/Electric would only be weak to fire and it would be a new combination. I can see why you're saying fire/dark piggy, but I hope not: I like Houndoom/Houndour and that thing be ugly and probably slow. I can see the water pokemon not being water/ice, because Piplup(A penguin!) has the same colour scheme and ended up being (the awesome) water/steel combination instead. Hell, even Pachirisu has the same colour scheme as that! Personally, if it pans out that the grass poke is grass/electric, I will break tradition and not pick the water starter.
Poison and Bug as well. Grass Electric would be pretty cool but I of course, have to plow through the game with a Fire starter regardless of how cool the others are :)
Good point on poison, but electric resists bug. I'm definitely glad they didn't do fire/fighting, any of the three + ground, or water/flying again. I'm hoping that they didn't do mono-grass again too.
Very interesting, there was a major hype on Fighting/Dark/Psychic weakness trinagle. The ice cream rodent still looks terrible imo though. Not entirely on the topic, but I also like new protagonist, he seems suprisingly normal looking compared to characters who were "lately" introduced in the games. Using Red's certified pose gives him bonus cool points. Nothing new there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SAey6uzNoQ Battle from recent PS showing grass starter using Leaf Storm, water starter using Water Pulse and fire starter using Flamethower. I'm bit surprised it's fire pig which has most HP at lvl 50. This might mean it's going to be defensive starter of this gen.
I think the new way the hp bar goes down is great. :) The animations of the pokemon are really cool as well. Moreso looking at the opposing pokemon.
I cannot WAIT to see their evolutions so I can decide which one I like the most. Right now, though, Porkabu's my favorite and Tsutaja looks worst to me (which seems to be the exact opposite of what most people think, even though it's a lame Treecko ripoff.) Besides, if Porkabu's defensive it might mean we finally have a good defensive Fire-type that isn't that used-up whore Tormentran. It's about time we had a Fire-type in OU that didn't make me want to throw up when I looked at it. I have to say, this batch of starters looks a lot better than that awkward-looking crap we got in Gen 4. The only cool Gen 4 starter was Piplup (though Turtwig had a cool final evo.)
It's a clam shell. Otters eat clams by cracking them with their paws. I know what you were thinking though. Don't say it. DON'T.
