    Summary
    There are two main sides in this theme (NATO and Warsaw Pact) but China, Taiwan and the hacker can influence the tide of the game. Connecting either side is a nigh on impossible task so tk's will happen. At the maximum set of roles there are 19:15:5:2:1:1 on the sides. Kills, PL's, BG's and insp's are balanced throughout the three larger teams with 8 nightkills, 6 inspects, 5 distracts, 5 protects, 4 converts, 3 bombs, 2 spys, 2 daykillers, a stalker and an exposer, as well as 7 villagers in a full game of 44 players at the start. The leaders of the three main sides can convert 18 other roles and give them extra abilities including protects, inspects, distracts, , poisons and kills. There is a complex system in place for the German and Korean roles.
    Lets say it is a smaller game with just North Korea and South Korea. If North Korea dies, South Korea converts to Democratic Korea and vica versa.
    In larger games there are two pairs so if a North Korea kills a South Korea the Two North Koreas convert to Communist Korea while the remaining South Korea converts to a South Korean Resistance. Should a Communist Korea die then the South Koreans successfully revolt and re-establish their nation while the other Communist Korea converts back into North Korea.
    This theme was and still is an original idea, but because Ricekirby felt and stated it was a ClanWar reskin it was immediately shut down even though no other points against it were raised. I want to give this theme a fair go and see if it needs fixing since the was the only criticism i received. It is not a copy of WWII I created this before WWII and Tesla can confirm that.

    Hmm..
    Well, the Hacker seems very overpowered, so I'd probably work on toning him down. Also, in terms of Taiwan, if it is a solo role, it doesn't make sense to give him an inspect, in my opinion. What might work better is giving him an expose, so he can wreak more havoc that way. I like the whole thing with the Germanies, but in terms of NATO side, do you not think 2 BGs and 2 PLs is too much, perhaps?

    That's just my personal opinion though and initial thoughts.

    1. With the Hacker, that is the point for him as a solo role - to wreak havoc everywhere like his name suggests. Voting phases are deadly for him however and the hitman, usa, ussr can take him out instantly in the nightphase. He appears in games with over 14 players and that size of game means his elimination is near certain in a voting phase not to mention there is one of him only and a mistake with the bombs is fatal. Though if you have a good suggestion to tone him down a little that would be appreciated
    2. The UN has the expose... I was thinking Taiwan could also get a poison or distract? I feel its a little weak compared to the other solo role...
    3. NATO's three BGs and 2 PLs in large games are evened out by the fact that USSR's side has the same amount. Two BG's on each side also are un-connected and can inspect as each other so... havoc is had! Especially since the two sides are as large as each other so there can be no 'im bg' or 'im samu'.

    Thanks for looking at the theme though

    Hmm this theme is interesting with two BGs they can inspect as each other as well as the Hacker causing problems too. However, Hitman seems a bit weak only being able to kill 1 role that two other main "characters" can kill. I think it would be quite boring being this role, who is basically a conspirator that can't die.

    So then what do you suggest? At least being able to kill one character is better than being a complete villager in my opinion. Otherwise he would be able to take out entire nations... and another killer like that would increase maximum deaths to 13 a day (No BGs, PLs and all the bombs are hit). At least currently he is able to take out the most dangerous role in the game. Or maybe he can get another role after the Hacker dies...

    This theme is 85% ClanWar. Notice the 3 teams, each with the same basic roles (Inspector, Bodyguard, PL, etc).
    The other 15% are composed by an extra PL to one team, an extra BG to another, etc. And 3 roles whose only function is to take out a specific role (Hitman and both Koreas). You may think that "hitting one role is better than being a villager", but IMO the high ammount of failed actions they will get it's immensely more frustrating.

    Also, this part of Hitman's help message
    is needless, hurts the flavour aspect of the theme and it's obviously taken from Chinchous theme.

    ...Thanks for the criticism, again... I'll let you know I didn't even know about ClanWar until that day you rejected this theme because they were "too similar". I've tried to emulate the Cold War in this theme with the THREE sides in the conflict being the THREE sides in the Cold War and then adding a few more sides to change the tides of the game. Every theme has the same basic roles so I fail to see your point. I admit the Hitman's help message was from Chinchous but that is all I took from the other themes. Also thanks for trying yet again to put down a theme that you dislike for no good reason. And you are the primary reason I left PO for five months. If you wish to have a productive community stop slamming what other people attempt to contribute without offering something constructive. Out of all the reviewers first time around you were the least compromising and most negative out of all of them, at least the others liked the idea of the Koreas and Germanies and gave me advice to touch it up with other roles. You just slammed the theme to the ground and told me it would never get through and to quit making anymore themes. You can't understand how much that hurt after submitting in your first theme, which was an original idea, to only be told that it sucked and that you should not try to make themes again...

We should honestly forget about what happened in the past, whatever did happen already happened. Instead of going on about how bad you felt after the rejection, why not look from an optimist's view and say, "Hey! I could really work on this aspect of the theme. That was a great idea. Thank you." Get it? I think Rice was trying to convey an indirect message of "Maybe these roles are insecure and aren't actually needed. How about add something else, or maybe change the actions of the role?"

    Don't reply a long message on how you hate him. Just stop. :X

    Okay, let's not go over this too much. Here's my rant (not really) on the theme.
    Hacker is liek o.o Maybe, you could get rid of the nightkill? I mean, like, it evades that amount of kills, but you want to give it 2 more? :X
    Taiwan is underpowered. Probably, give it hax on stuff or make it convert to "evil" Taiwan onLynch, who can probably daykill?
    Also, too many people have evadechances asdfghjkl :X Liek, if everyone has 25 - 50% evade chances, won't the game take forever to play out?
    I love the flavour of this theme. It's so appealing to history liekers like t3. Although some might think this is too similar to WWII on paper, if you really look at it closer, it's really not the same.

    I'm not trying to be rude here. I admit I lacked in offering suggestions for the theme, but I'm not making any commentary out of hate or because I dislike the theme. I already saw this theme 3 times before, but I still re-read the code now to make sure I wouldn't be unfair when commenting.

    I never said you plagiarized ClanWar. But that doesn't change the fact that it has some similarities in the way the theme is played, and that will make it harder for your theme to get approved.

    Let me take this opportunity to make a real suggestion using this comment:
    What I meant is not that you can't have those roles. But the team structure regarding those roles is the same as ClanWar. To fix that, you can either rethink the team structure (making some teams work differently from others) or add a twist to those roles so they will behave differently.

    Some possibilities (ignore any that you dislike, since those are merely ideas):
    • If you want to change the team structure, you can have one of the sides relying more on one type of action while the others have different means for achieveing their objectives. This could be done, for example, by having a team with higher firepower (kills/poison), but less reliable information sources (Insane inspectors) or have a different (possibly less efficient) way of connecting the team. You could also have a team that relies more on voting phase than kills.
    • If you want to add some twists to those roles, you can try some different abilities combinations. For example, with 3 distractors (one for each team), you can have 2 of them with different votes (+2 and -2), or you can add actions like "Can self-protect once every 3 nights" for one of them, while the other can get an inspection every 3 nights. Or any other combination you think it's interesting and can give each side a different way of playing.
    • Another alternative is thinking of some different roles relations. You can have 2 roles knowing each other from the beginning of the game (most likely weak roles, if their purpose is connecting). Or you can have twin roles (2 roles that affect each other when one of them die). Or even roles that depend on other roles to do their job (something like a role that is weak at the beginning of the game, but can be upgraded by another role). Th
      ose stuff can make teams more interesting.

    Regarding Koreas/Hacker, that's a controversial role. Some may like, others may not. Personally, I'm in the latter group, but that's just my opinion. I probably would like them more if they had something else to do once they accomplish their task.

    1. Hacker is meant to cause havoc and chaos. He has 2 kills but voting phases are deadly to him.

    3. There are only 5 nations with evade chance, USSR, USA, China/East China (China in small games, East in larger ones), Midwest and Siberia

    After seeing WWII with the roles changing after a death, I'm thinking about implementing that for Hitman and the Koreas. I will consider the insane inspector for Poland. I'm also thinking of letting USA and USSR buff members of their team by supplying weapons...

    Actually I created WWII way back in November last year, and I believe I revamped it and resubmitted a week or two before you did.

    However, I can confirm his idea is original and not a copy of anything.

    The theme in itself is not bad at all; however, since we have two war themes already (War, WWII), you're going to really need to make this a truly worthy addition to the server.

    Let me start by saying that the flavour is a bit odd. Cuban hotties? Mmkay. Inland Taipan killing someone? Aren't those snakes extremely timid of human contact, poisonous as they may be? Are Mongols actually descended from Genghis Khan? If so, how does that let them protect people?

    You have a lot of leeway since this is essentially sci-fi, so use it. Make the sides and roles a whole lot more unique. You don't need to have every PR on every team. Rather, specialize. Rice's suggestions are really good, so incorporate those. And if you did in the last update, could you post some sort of changelog so we can figure out what has changed?

    I do like how the Hitman and Korea have limited targets, but I'm not sure how well that would work in practice. I mean, what are the odds of hitting that one role out of 20 or 30 different players? Maybe give them some hax so they can find their targets more easily. The game is sort of just stuck there until they finish their goals and becoming contributing members of the team. You're on the right track with the convert on death, but I think they need a little more than a mere kill.

    I've added in the hax for the Germanies, Korea to hit the opposing side and a hax for Interpol which needs to be relayed to the Hitman.
    I'm not sure how to alter the sides without unbalancing the theme and there aren't many options with kill, protect, distract, poison, safeguard, expose and inspect...
    Could you give me some ideas on how to work the flavour, it's my first theme and its not based off any shows or anything so its a little had to make up flavour... With Australia's kill I've changed that to a Coastal Taipan, they are a lot more vicious when cornered or startled (like opening its box or prodding it into a room)

    I love the idea and I also love war themes, but you could have more vanilla. Wayyyy too many power roles aren't that good. I don't see many major problems though.

    I couldn't find anything negative to say other than there are like a gajillion roles. I am not to sure about balance either, but that is also my weak point while making themes for the time being. I really wish I could put more input into the theme.

    The roles list that you added was kind of hard to read. I know it has no effect on the theme just thought i would throw that out there. :)

    There are two main sides in this theme (NATO and Warsaw Pact) but China, Taiwan and the hacker can influence the tide of the game. Connecting either side is a nigh on impossible task so tk's will happen. At the maximum set of roles there are 19:15:5:2:1:1 on the sides. Kills, PL's, BG's and insp's are balanced throughout the three larger teams with 8 nightkills, 6 inspects, 5 distracts, 5 protects, 4 converts, 3 bombs, 2 spys, 2 daykillers, a stalker and an exposer, as well as 7 villagers in a full game of 44 players.

    THANK YOU FOR THE ABOVE. IT MAKES JUDGING CHAOS SO MUCH EASIER.

    And now for the review.

    It seems quite balanced, as said. We won't know that until we actually playtest the theme

    Issue #1- WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE BUFFS THAT ARE IN THE ROLE DESCRIPTIONS???????

    Hacker seems a little OP, you might need to nerf it a bit, considering the fact that he can only be killed by a few roles, nightkills with #1 prio, unreveal daykills.
    ...Maybe make that side Antarctica or something? Hacker in a theme about the world seems blegh.

    Taiwan seems a little underpowered at first, but then it's a buffed version of werewolf in default. Maybe play around with the hax chances to figure what might be best for it.

    Why is the Assassin on side 4 if he wins with sides 1 2 and 3?

    Matthew, the cold was HASN'T ended so it isn't set after the cold war, but during the same, yet longer, war.
    Think of it as an alternate universe. Instead of Gorbachov ending the war by ruining his own reign, the Wall did not fall and the war is taking a turn for the worse as a conflict finally happens.
    At least, that's what the description says.

    The buffs are a convert which the leaders can use 3 times a game.
    Hacker has already been nerfed significantly. The idea for this role is from the cyber-attack that took down Iran's nuclear centrifuges in 2010.
    I will play around with Taiwan's hax and kill chance to find the best fit.
    The Assassin is the Hitman's next stage after the Hacker is killed. Since he is hired by all the major nations he can win with them all but the Interpol is ally, can only win with side 1 and 2.

    The command integrate is a converting command. Only North and South Korea have it though. I don't know if I understand who the buff was added to though. Maybe the pastbin wasn't updated?

    The pastebin link is outdated sorry, in the code on this thread you can see that USA and USSR in games of over 20 can buff 3 times a game along with East China who can only buff once.

    I am glad you updated the pastebin. All your code is in a straight line making it a little hard to read on the pastebin.

    If I counted correctly there are 17 kills. I am excluding poisons and when a role converts and still has a kill. I think I got all of the shared kills counted as only 1 kill as well.
    I think you should tone it down a litte bit. I don't know how you should do it but it will help with balance.

    Your roles list is a little hard to read in the original post. If you could separate the roles a little bit it would be helpful. Also, if you could tell us how many of each command you have that would also be helpful. It will allow us to look at balance a lot faster than having to read the code or each roles description. I did it for Capcom so if you need an example you can look there. You don't have to do it but it might help to speed up the pace at which your theme is reviewed.

    Your count is a little off. In the worst case scenario with 44 players where all the converts give players an extra kill or poison and then no distract or protect works in the following nightphase while all the evades fail in both day and night (EXTREMELY UNLIKELY) the maximum number of deaths is only 15 (including nightkills, daykills, poison and voting). I am thinking of toning down the role converts to 2 for USA and USSR and one for China which would decrease the MAXIMUM deaths in one round in huge games to 13. The roles list is tidied up too.

    Hello Scand!! This theme is very interesting and have a good potential :) Here are the main issues:

    - South Chinab should have said on the "info" that it can poison and that it takes 2 days. Same works for any other converted roles.

    - West Germanyb's help text: ".../invade East Germany and unite your peoples." I really thought invade was a convert instead of a kill. This may confuse other people too. Can you re-write this sentence - and other situations like this?

    - Hitman and Hitmanb just win with west and north, while Assassin wins with north, east and west. Should this happen?

    - Assassin's help: "You are also vunerable to distracts now..." is not coded, while Hitman and Hitmanb can't be distracted. Should this happen?

    - Interpol's help text: "Since you are not a ntion you evade most day and nightkills."

    - Hitman/Assassin/Interpol should be said they win with other sides too. And this information should be at "info", not only on the help/code :x

    - When it says that everyone want to hire Hitman, shouldn't Assassin win with any side, not only the 3 it currently wins?

    - When you give a side to a role, even if this role gets some other winning sides, they should be told their original side. I'm talking this because of UN. Even though it can win with West and anti-hacker, it should help their East teammates in any circumstances, because they are their original side. If you want, you can make this information I said more clear, not that it has 3 sides. Or create a side for it and then make it win with those sides.

    - ~Role~ doesn't work on daykills, just on exposes (Japan daykill message)

    - Isn't China UP? It has the same PRs other sides have, but much less players.

    - I'm almost sure that when some NATO member is revealed, it won't be lynched, while it won't happen to Warsaw and China sides. If this is going to be a "clanwar" or "two villages war" they all should have this "equal chance" to be lynched.

    - I may be wrong, but aren't there too many kills and killers? You'd lower it a bit :x[/HIDE]

    I'll fix up the issues with the help and info for converted roles and Korea and Germany and the UN. and also run a grammar check :P

    For the assassin he is now vulnerable to distracts and thus there is nothing on it in the coding (evade distract adds a little section). Hitman is not meant to win with China but Assassin can, it is intentional. Also everyone wants to hire Assassin, hitman is already hired. Taiwan is ignored by him as it is not a recognized nation.

    With the daykill massage is there anyway to have the target's role in there? I was certain that would work.

    China is meant to be a third side that can influence the war but is not as strong as the other sides. The west is meant to control the voting phase but their enemies have more power at night even if they are fragmented.


    For the full 13 kills to happen in one turn would be a 1 in (insert number of start in universe) chance (not to mention games rarely get that big). There is the fact that 5 of the kills will easily rebound not to mention the convert takes effect on day 2 after other killers have died. It's also meant to represent the Cold War turning hot with lots of nuke flying everywhere so yea... any less and it turns into ice cream wars. (YES ANGEL FLONNE ICE CREAM IS TOO SLOW).

    Balance >>> Flavour. This must work for every theme and yours shouldn't be an exception. Mainly because this is a ClanWar, every "Clan" side should have equal (or similar) chances to win.

    Don't lay all your trust in xfires, like it was done with Mushroom Kingdom. Xfire happen? Yes, they do. But it shouldn't be considered in these situations. You want the game to flow fast, ok. But you should break it a little bit. I wouldn't like half of the players gone n1 or 2...

    But yeah, make the distractmsgs more clear, Hitman needs hax so he can figure out who to get (not too much though), Taiwan seems UP and needs prio kill when lynched, and test [1].
