Version 2: Converting Village vs Converting Mafia

    "author": "Praixie",
"summary": "The balance of peace in Rune Midgard broke and led way to some strange occurrences. Peaceful creatures became aggressive and attacked innocent villagers. The village has decided to fight back by advancing their job classes and improving their abilities. In this theme, there are 6 main power roles, the 1st job classes. Each has a chance to change to a 2nd job class with better skills. Even the novice, a citizen role, has a small chance to advance and become a PR. Test your luck and see if you're worthy enough to join the PR's group. Be wary of the mafia groups, who can also advance to become stronger monsters as well. For comments and suggestions, post it on this theme's thread. -Praixie",

Based on what Li Q. Assir and Zzyzx Road suggested, I redefined my theme so that it will be village vs mafia oriented.....The village side has only 6 main PRs. Each can change in 1 of the two next job succession after 3nights. By doing so they can have extra or improve actions. Also many of us don't want being a villy role so the Novice(villager role) has a small chance to convert into a PR(5% success). This is also a reason why there are 6 main PRs only....The Mafia roles can only kill during the night but can also change after 2nd night their role so they can do extra actions as well like distract or daykill.

My theme will be like "default" theme only at the start because of simpler commands but as soon as they started converting, the theme will eventually become diverse.....Well, that's one thing unique here i guess....Also strategy-wise, since each 1st job class can choose 2 different 2nd job class, they must think which of the two will be needed in the current situation........

Instead of 20% chance of success, prs can advanced to 2nd job after 3rd night while mafia can advanced after 2nd night. Novice now have 5% chance of success to be a PR role

I am curious as to why only the Newbies have a win messages. If you have a small game you might just go to auto win since everyone will be on the same side from the start. I don't know if that is true but it seems like it might be. If what i said is true then I would make at least one other side of Newbies so that people actually get to play the game instead of just auto winning n1. I like your idea. I must admit when i first read it I though of Rotom. It is different though allowing a more diverse game and not giving one side too much power, even though i feel like the theives have more power than the rest, to where they will almost always win.

I like the idea of them being able to convert again later if they would like. That is probably my favorite part of your theme. I don't remember an other theme doing this so I must give you props on your idea. I like how no two roles are exactly the same. I don't like how if you don't want to go to class two right away you only have a 30% chance of killing someone. You probably did this to promote people converting but i feel like they should have more of a chance of killing someone if they are just job 1. Personal preference right there.

Great theme I hope to play it sometime.

wow thx BeastCharizard for your comment :D

Here are my answers for each:
1.) I can't think of winmsgs for other sides so I'm leaving it for now since it don't affect the game that much :D
2.) I think that it woudn't end N1 as long as at least one converted. Based on my experience playing rotom, even if many says "don't convert guys so we win now", there still others that will convert. I'll consider having 2 different sides of newbies though....
3.) For the thieves, assassin's have shared poison, downside is that their target don't automatically die.....rogues can evade kills and can connect or troll coz of hax but have 0 votes so voting phase will be a problem for thieves....They also has pros and cons...(I'm thinking to add evasion to assassins as well since in Ragnarok Online they're really have a good evasion).
4.) the idea of having low hit rate is for the logic :D 1st job class will really have a hard time killing a 2nd job in RO....I can increase that 30% to about 50-70% though????

First of all: great idea of making a RO theme!!! I love that game!

1.) It's not so difficult. PM me if you need some help with that ;)
2.) It would NEVER end n1, like I've never seen Rotom ending n1, so you don't need to make 2 novice sides, because of this. And if 2 novices (1 from each side) want to stay novice and they mannage to be the only two people surviving?
    3.) I agree with you.
4.) You'd just increase this rate for archers... they're known for high accuracy. Well... this would make them as OP 1st job, but why don't you give some extra things for the others, like a lower hax for mages and en evasion chance for thieves? (I can't think on a nice thing for Swordsmen, I've never liked them on RO. on the other side, you could give to the paladins a /safeguard)

So, I think it's going on a very nice way, I just want some more roles!!! Where are the Taekwons and evo, Ninjas and Gunlingers, Merchants and evo and Priests and evo? Or you could make so monters roles for lonely roles, with whom Super Novice can't win.

Just asking but why does every role have a 40% evade daykill chance? That just seems a little odd to me.

That's because Knights just hit 60% of their daykills. But that's true. Why didn't you just put a fail chance on Knights daykill instead of making everyone with an evade chance?
And don't they have team reveal?

Meow posting my thoughts before me as usual >_>

While evolving through convert is cool, have you considered some consistent roles on the good side? Probably teamblind so there is no actual connection before both sides settle down and the game organizes. I see the phases between N2 and D3 as complete havoc.

In addition, a choice between BG and Daykiller sounds about obvious - this would, yes, lead to Rotom-like daykill spam. As stated in other theme threads, village is kind of supposed to control the day just like Mafia has the night.

Also, try to have more commoners.
Use roles1 to add the roles in order. The first role in the list appears at one player, the second at two, and so on. "roles2" is used when roles1 has not enough roles to fit the number of players, so you can shift between a one-Mafia-faction setting to a more complex one, such as default's switch between Mafia/WW and IM/FCM.

Just pointing out that Fail Chance only works for night actions. And Win Messages are optional; you can have for only one of your teams if you want it (and I don't think anyone playing the theme will mind it) .

The concept is being a mixture between Battle realms and Rotom: one person can change twice the roles to the roles he wants (he can change more than 1 time, like on battle realms, but they can choose the side he'll become, like on rotom). This way, there is NO village.
But, having protectors on the game, it may be needed to get some "revealteam" or "revealrole"...

oh, so I just can't read. For some reason I thought it was a village of novices against a varied mafia, which would be a really good way to go about doing a theme like this. If it's team based converting then even with the extra convert it's basically a different Rotom, which apparently is not really the type of theme we're looking for.

But if you could find some way to make it a converting village v a standard mafia or something, that would be great!

I also saw it a bit VxM oriented rather than team-based. Making it a bit more VvM oriented would be a good idea.

Maybe if you make humans (these roles you've put, but a little bit changed, of course) versus monsters mafias? It may be a good idea. So, the village could change itself to the desired roles and the mafias could be there. Perhaps starting the whole village as novices being able to change their jobs with a FAILURE CHANCE may be a good way. Doing so, the villies at night 1 must talk about what they're planning to be, so there won't be many repeated first job classes (e.g. a class is inspector, another is bg, another is pl... and their 2nd jobs could be the same with improved characteristics). I think it would be fun for the village choosing the prs they want to be, with the mafias killing them. And giving a (pretty high) failure chance for the convertions would be essential, because there must be some novices to be the villagers. I don't know if that would be very confusing, but it would make this theme unique.

To clarify things up, there is no particular village side in this theme. It's like WWW or Rotom theme with all the sides fighting against each other.!!!........But if you think that it will be better with a converting village VS mafia, I'll try to redefined and change it and post both old and new one here..

Second, I put evade chance to every character since failchance can't be used with day kills is it???

yay!! I love RO too :D

Btw, I just limit the roles because if I add all of them, players might be confused and can't even memorize their commands and abilities

If you are going the "Village Vs Mafia" way, I think you could try adding the other 2 classes, since it's easier to add support roles now (and Acolyte would make more sense as a bodyguard than Swordsman).
But the concept is really interesting now. I only miss a Poring role :3

Very nice! Here are some things I noticed:

    - If the archers become hunters, there will be no PLs for the village.
    - The "villageCantLoseRoles" should also include the 2nd jobs but Crusader, Sage and Rogue. I'm saying this because the others can actually win the game for the village. Oh, and the novices too! If they manage to change to one of those roles who may win the game, they should be a role on this list.
    - The biggest game just has 27 people.

And now some things that I think could be nice:

    - You could take out the Event MVPs Ex. Instead of them, you can give their powers for the event MVPs and make the event MVPs a /change from the MVP. (e.g: the Dark Lord would have his /kill, his /distract and a /change to Event Dark Lord, who would have Dark Lord's commands and the /poison)
    - Assassins should have some poison-related thing. Many of ther skills are related to poison.
    - Thieves and evolutions should have an evade chance for obvious reasons.
    - Crusaders have Reflect Shied. They should be the bombs instead of the Bards. So the /safeguard could be the Bards' command, because they're also support roles.
    - I don't know if the first (or the second) jobs should get a "role-reveal"... this would avoid some bad things that happen(ed) with WWW. The only way (I think) for village to connect is a Sage exposing some teammate or Thieves/Rogues haxing the Hunters (Wizards can't be haxed with /jupitel command).
    - If people like, there could be another mafias like Maya Purple/Maya, Thief-bug/Golden Thief-bug, Orc Baby/(Orc Warrior or Grand Orc)/Orc Hero, Baby Hatii/Hatii, Pirate Skeleton/Drake...

    So many ideas *-*
Hope this gets approved soon!! I really want to play it! :)

-The Archer will decide what the village currently needs a Vigi or a PL (tough decision). Another Novice has the possibility to become archer as well so even if the 1st choose to be Vigi the other can decide to choose a PL.
-I also think that I should change the villagecantloseroles :)
-The Event MvPs acts like the mafiaboss....I wouldn't make it the change for an MvP since If I do that, there will be a possibility of having 2 or more daykillers(in the case of event bapho)
    - I think I might consider IceKirby's suggestion:
Acolyte - protect and can change to Priest or Monk
    >Priest - protect + safeguard
    >Monk - (what action should I put on this one?)
    Swordsman -
    >Knight - daykiller
    >Crusader - Bomb + ??? <---- should be worth changing coz guys will always choose knight
    Thief -
    >Assassin - uhmm poison vigilante??? and evasion maybe 30%?
    >Rogue - spy + stalk
    And the Bard > PL + ??????

Li Q. Assir <3 any ideas for some roles???

I was referring to the Event MVPs Ex. And they could share the daykill too, if that seems to be OP.

    - This is a theme based on changing roles, right? Thanatos seems to be nonsense, because he is just (?) a Kuja. Maybe you could choose one of those MVPs I said on my last post and make one of them being Kuja... ofc, lonely on its team (or not!)
    - Monk's Azura seems to be a better daykill than anything Knights would have... js
    - Give the 30% evasion to Rogue too!! (my own bias, <3 ROgue the most!!!) and maybe 10% to thieves - these evasions could work during the day too, I think
    - Bard could have some extra votes
    - Monk/Knight daykill would be revealed, right?
    - Monk/Knight could be immune to nightkills (because of their resistance) and have some extra votes too.

Why are you guys completely missing the Merchant class? Like I said, with a Village vs. Mafia setting, having the 6 classes should be easier.
That said, Merchant for Mayor roles :3

BTW, another suggestion: I think you should consider adding "initialrecharge": 2 (or 3) instead of using failChance for all job changes (except for Novice).

Using the "initialrecharge" could make the village OP, if survives the early game. failChance sounds better for me. Anyway, Praixie and the balance have the final decision.

Monk cant be the daykiller since acolyte is the BG, if he reveals then no one will protect him unless some novice become an acolyte.....I think monk can be like stone kirby, can't be nightkilled and has 0 votes ??? Monk have Steel Body anyway.... They will possible connects but lose the power to protect.....and oh! Merchants can be mayors..BS can have +2 or Alche can have -3

I didn't thought of having initialrecharge O.o but i think it will fit....2 nights for baddies and maybe 3 nights for 1st jobs.....A typical prs set is having a daykiller, exposer,PL,BG,spy. It will not be to OP. I think FE has almost the same set???? ofc difference is player can choose which one to choose and novice has a very small chance to become a PR..

For the mafia, I really want thana there :D I'm wondering if I can make valkyrie and thana on the same side??? downside is that it will be like kefka and kuja so to be different, how about I make thana an Insane inspector as well???

    lastly,
    >Bard - PL + ?????? can't afford to have +votes since merchants have them
    >Crusader - Bomb + ?????? must be worthful

I much prefer it now to the old Rotom-like version. I've already pointed out a few mistakes to you in PM but it'd be preferable to have the Monk do something other than evading nightkills and having 0 votes (can pretty much go afk if he wants after connecting PRs).

I really like it now. Make sure to check every help/convertmsg though, I noticed a little lack of punctuation.

I didn't notice any of the kind in the new version, but it's always worth remembering:

Oh, this theme is getting interesting. I'd give you the Rice's seal of approval, if such a thing existed lol

Some new suggestions (feel free to ignore if you dislike them):
-You could use recharge to have some interesting choices when changing to 2nd class. For example, I can't see why anyone would change to Crusader instead of Knight, so why not give Crusader a Protect with recharge:2~3? Also, I could see Monk having a daykill with recharge:99 (or simply 3~4, so they don't get bored).
-Merchant should have a +2 votes IMO, and then Blacksmith could have a higher vote count (Like +4). Alchemist could have -3 and some extra ability or -98 as a counter for Thanatos.
-I'm not sure if having roles like Archer in the villageCantLoseRoles list is a good idea. Of course, an Archer can change to Hunter and prevent village's immediate defeat, but rarely that would be enough to save them (given the time needed for the class change), and it would be more likely to drag the game. It's not a big deal, so you can decide on that after watching some games.
    -Add a Poring role. Please.

Poring... Maybe a consp? It's a cutie roundie pinkie jelly ball <3 and can be a pet. but still a monster. but he should have something more that would discourage he claiming...
You could also add Super Novice too: the inicial recharge for him would be much higher but he could have all the commands 1st jobs have... (maybe just once a game, like Copper from Elements, or with recharge)

    - Monk has 2 protects now. The 2nd one has 80% success good counterchoice for priest. Should i give him /asura as well? initialrecharge: 5 and recharge 99?
    - I will also change merch +2, smith +3 and alche -4
    - crusaders can't be poison and is a bomb for night and day. a wise player will choose this role if the BG is dead...so instead of randing a daykill wherein he dies next turn. he can be s crusader and he'll just bring someone with him on his death.
    - If i will include Poring, i think the best role for it is consp that can reveal himself at standby (like POU). he can't win with the odin mafia so he will not reveal until it's safe. Since Icekirby suggested it, would you mind providing the revealmsg you want?

    BUMP!
    Edit:
    - convertmsg and info has punctuations now...
    - monk has 2 protects and the 2nd one has 80% chance only
    - merch class votes are changed
    - priority changes

Can 6 prs and novice having 5% chance to convert enough to battle 3 mafia groups??? or should i add the other job classes?

I think the novices change rate is fine. They HAVE to be the villies. But don't the prs have a inicial recharge for changing instead of a failure chance?

Approving and bumping this. You did a good job with fixing this theme up. The village is a little bit standard but that's offset by the conversion factor, and the chance for a novice to advance is nice as well.

oh yes, I overlooked this thread in page 2 e.o

Reminds me, the theme evolved fairly well with a few changes. As always, someone posts my thoughts before me and I end up looking redundant. Either way, the theme's concept is really interesting. Approve [2]

Merchant is missing the +2 votes action.

Here's my opinion on the roles:
-Magician's line is perfect and awesome.
-Archer classes are fine too, and I hope you will add Dancer someday.
-Merchant and evolutions are fine too, but if I could suggest something, I'd sayd you could think about adding a voteshield for Alchemist, since IMO Blacksmith's +3 is more useful than Alchemist's -4.
-I'd suggest removing the hax from Assassin (but keeping Rogue's), so the player will have to choose for firepower or information (In the current form, I think Rogue rarely would get chosen, since Assassin can get information too).
-Acolyte and Priest are fine, but Monk is not IMO. Avoid Nightkills, 0 votes and a revealing daykill every 3~4 nights would be the ideal for me, since the current Monk is basically a trickier Priest.
-Swordsman classes are still my main concern. Even being a full bomb, Crusader is not as useful as Knight (since it can only take down one opponent, if lucky), so I can't see anyone choosing Crusader over Knight. Either Knight should have a drawback or Crusader should have a buff (or both). My previous suggestion was having Crusader as a backup BG (using either charges or recharge), and another possibility was having Knight as concealed daykiller, but with recharge:2 (not sure if this fit what you want for that role, but it's just an idea).

Also, I love how this theme uses spyhax moderately.

The Monk could be made more different than the Priest without making it completely passive during the game. As for the Crusader, daykill revenging wouldn't be very helpful since there's only one bad daykiller although it wouldn't hurt. It could have some command with "charges" although I've never played ragnarok so I don't know what would be the most appropriate action (probably a daykill).

Other than that, this theme has gone a long way from its original design. I wouldn't mind giving it an approve once the Crusader is cleared up. (Not yet :P)

    Updates:
    - Merch +2 votes action fix
    - Crusader has a non-revealing daykill with recharge = 2 (this means he can kill once every 2 days right??).
    - Monk can still protect 2 persons. Good counter choice for priest i think. Having a second protect will be helpful if you need to protect 2 prs. Ofc priest's safeguard is also helpful since baddies have poison and distract actions so the player must choose wisely.
    - Assassins can only poison but now has 30% chance to evade night kills. <---typical RO assassin has good evade.

I've been following the progress of this theme and applaud you for responding well to the criticism and suggestions. You've done a good job improving the theme from its initial stage. It's become quite an interesting concept and I wouldn't mind getting some playtime in.

I'd have to agree that Monk should receive some sort of offensive buff. Monks are traditionally known for being reliable on both ends. Priest with protect and safeguard is fine, but you should consider giving the monk a kill to separate him more from the priest.

That's the only questionable detail I see. But there are also a few grammar issues.
    Edit your summary
"The Balance of peace in Rune Midgard broke and strange occurence started happening. There came a strange howl from the boundaries that divided God, humans, and demons. Peaceful creatures became aggressive and attacked innocent villagers. The village decided to fight back by advancing their job classes and improve their abilities. In this theme, there are 6 main PRs (1st job classes). Each has a chance to change to 2nd job class with better skills. Also a novice(citizen role) has a small chance(5%) to advanced and become a PR as well. You can test your luck if you're worthy enough to join the PR's group <3 Also the mafias can also changed their role to become stronger monsters as well. This theme may start like a default theme at first but can be diverse later."

    should be:

"The balance of peace in Rune Midgard broke and led way to some strange occurrences. A strange howling could be heard from the boundaries that divided God, humans, and demons. Looks very nice. I'd approve (NOPE. NOT BOLD) if I was QC.
