I am glad that someone else posted a theme before i did. I have played your theme before and it is fun. When asking about making a theme i was told to accommodate for 40 players. Mafia is getting more popular so I think you should make a few more roles. I don't think mafia is that popular yet but hopefully it will be one day and you will already be set. That is all i have to say because i saw no problem. Fun theme.
Daypix. Controversial theme I know, but it's quite a mixed bag. This does offer a different take to the mafia game, but I'd consider it more as a "minigame" than a serious theme. I will be generous however, and pretend I've never heard of it. It does encourage quick typing, which is a nice addition to the table. Game should end fairly swiftly, so it doesn't too long for another theme to start. UberDaypix is a role I think many will dislike, because it's overpowered compared to the other Daypixes. 30 players may not quite be enough. Buff it to about 40, only involves a bit of copy and pasting. Could have vote = 0, so it is reliant on daykilling, like Vepix is reliant on nightkills. While in my personal opinion it would be a fun addition to Mafia, I would Abstain, generally because many players find this theme controversial, and they are a lot of haters out there.
Lovely theme. I'm generally in favor of creative themes (which does not mean complex), and this is, despite the lack of strategy, a real creative theme. Maybe, since the author's not specified, you could adopt it and 1. Enlarge - Mafia Channel is growing up, we must see. 2. Give it a summary - while not really necessary in a killfest, all themes should have it. 3. Some flavor for the roles? Different kill messages and role descriptions make it more fun. To add on this, it's not like flavoring Vepix which would lead to an easily figured priority order; that being if all the roles' votes became 0 instead of the current version with random -999ers. Am I allowed to approve this? I know there's a lot of hubub about it not being on the main server and I know we're trying to limit the amount of silly or gimmicky themes, but Daypix is generally well received and goes quickly.
I don't think this is the worst of the silly/gimmick themes, and I think this is pretty accessible. The first Daypix has a vote of -9999, and there's an UberDaypix. Part of the appeal of this theme (and Vepix) is the uniformity of the roles. In addition, the killing is the only notable part of Vepix; therefore, all votes should equal zero. By the way, Zzyzx Road's third suggestion is pretty interesting. Might be worth looking into.
Looks nice. Remember that you can optimize the theme: - Only use 1 side - Only use roles which aren't copied of off another. target is AnyButSelf, not AnyButTeam - Remove villageCantLoseRoles (optional as it's not much of a deal) And add properties "summary" (Zzyzx already said this) and "author" (so people know who created it. you don't need it for updating as you're already MA :P, of course you can add alts)
No, only one side means no one loses - everyone is the same team. Either one works, since the teams are all made of one single role.
Okay :) Upping the number Is really easy and can be done in 2 mins. Will add a summary and author though I don't know who made this first. Take to TUO about what he said on server. About the -9999 voters that was added as an incentive to not vote while also being able to vote if they wish. The point of it is no-one would know if they have -9999 votes or 1 so it discourages lynching as if you lead a vote on someone, other people follow with -9999 and then that person can vote you off.

In my opinion, if this theme was to remain, all the roles would need to be the same. No -9999 vote, no UberDaypix, all votes counting as 0. This theme's appeal is in the day kills - having a night killer / poisoner / votes in said theme is pointless. Also, I'd definately consider adding more roles (more Daypix) to the theme to allow more people to join. A 30-player game is quite common during peak times, and it can leave people out. (yes, I am aware other people have said the same as I just have) Until said changes are made, reject this theme. Now, I'll address the elephant in the room that has only been touched upon by one other - the Daypix theme is not a mafia theme. It's an entirely different thing. Mafia is supposed to be a game where teams form, tactics are used and people try to win by being smart and having a little luck. It is supposed to be intelligent, but fun. The Daypix theme has no teams, there are no tactics except for considering the timing of your kills so that you might avoid being killed, and there is nothing but fast typing and pure luck to this theme. It is not intelligent in the slightest. Is it fun? In my opinion, no, it is not. Whenever I play this theme, I just feel constantly frustrated as tons of daykill messages pop up, and I die because I didn't manage to type my target's name fast enough. As such, my personal opinion is that this theme should be rejected completely. However, I know that other people find said "kill spam" themes fun, so I will not be completely disappointed if this theme remains. EDIT: fitzy's post was made as I was typing this post. UberDaypix needs to be removed, else I still stick with my rejection.
To be honest, I didn't like Daypix before, if only because I died too often. If it returns, however, I'll play it at least once, see if I change my mind. Especially if there's a different text for each 'pix, that would be neat, trying to collect all of them. The only thing with that - people knowledgable in checking coding would be able to see if they had minus votes. Edit: Never mind about the -votes. o: Can I help with text?
@Oak, this is something that's been discussed in PMaf and other places since a few days ago. I can't speak for everybody when I say this, but I am generally a fan of gimmick themes, as long as they are well made and unique. Daypix certainly falls under the "unique" category, but your concerns about it requiring no thought/skill process are valid. While it is a Mafia channel and emphasis should obviously be put on themes that follow the village v scum setup, I believe there is some room for themes like Daypix that are nonstandard, especially considering that a lot of the playerbase enjoys mindless killing. Not gonna approve or anything yet though because I'd rather see some more standard themes go to the channel first.
I don't know what the guidelines are for what gets an approval and what doesn't, but if this gets approved then it really opens a lot of doors as to what other themes should be approved. As Oak said, this is not a mafia game. There is no strategy, and it looks like a game of blind luck. Obviously some people are into that. I think it really comes down to what exactly the QC members are looking for in a mafia theme to get an approval. What are the guidlines that gets one theme approved and another rejected? It just seems to me that allowing a theme like this opens the door to allowing similar themes, which seem differs from what I've seen on the server (other similar themes being removed). Of course, it could be that we want themes like this, but again just from my experience I thought we were trying to move away from themes like this. Hope I'm making sense, and correct me if I'm wrong!
@jalmont, the point is not to remove all themes that differ from the standard of Mafia. While I agree with you and Oak to some extent, these quick, gimmicky themes could get their chance. I like its simplicity, even though it's not always fun. I'll keep with my - maybe hasty - 'approved' tag for now, as these themes are nice and I can't see any harm done by it. While I understand your point, allowing one of these through doesn't mean we should allow all (even because the point is to only keep original themes, and something near what Daypix has to offer would fall under 'unoriginal').
This is the stupidest theme evar. However, it's pretty original, though I wouldn't say creative since all the roles are the exact same. There's nothing wrong with some diversity so approved (unofficially of course).
Reject. Why? I know Mafia is all about fun and stuff, but it's also called Mafia for a reason; it requires quick thinking and good strategy. Does Daypix require these two? Absolutely NOT! What Daypix requires from you is typing /kill to the guy you want to kill before the night ends and keeping your hand on the enter button so that you can ninjakill someone who you think will kill you. It's stupid in the sense of word.
I personally like it (btw, didn't know about Uber and that daypix with -9999 votes). I'd approve it anyway, if I could, but eliminating the votes or giving them all a single vote would be sufficient, and taking out the Uber Daypix could work better (even though I've never seen his appear). Why don't we forget we are playing mafia for a small time (since it always end fast) and just go play a funny ninja game?
Professor Oak and others have already said what needs to be said, however, I think this theme should be Accepted and people can choose whether or not they want to join. Some people like gimmicky themes, some people don't, I guess it's about personal preference and what people like and don't like. I personally don't like the idea of this theme and wouldn't join if it got started, but that's just my opinion and everyone has the right to their own opinions. I know this has been stated several million times, but may I also add that when "shitty" themes get started, people complain and complain about the theme and how "shit" it really is, I want to say that whining doesn't help, if you don't like a theme, simply don't join.
This is just a poor attitude in my opinion to take about themes. Obviously, if you don't like a theme don't join it, but the whole point of mafia review is to prevent "shitty" themes on the server. If something is broken, we should fix it instead of letting it be with the mindset of "just don't join if you don't like it." If it's a bad theme why should it be approved for the sake of diversity? I don't find this to be an original theme at all. It's 100% luck based.
I has to say reject. I just find Daypix as a spam theme were It's all about spamming kill during the day, nothing creative or original in that. Anyway, i can inform you that Nicehat made Daypix.
Personally, I hate daypix. But moreso because people just randomly spam their /kill command, hoping they get the first kill. Also, it can be used as an excuse to off a person you don't like who's playing, so a semi-targetting.
Reject. As said above, as well as in my opinion, mindless killing without strategy is not the purpose of Mafia. I also agree with Xinc's post.
As Xinc said before, this could be a targetting field day. Strategy is important in mafia, if you remove the strategy, it becomes a killfest. In games and wars, strategy is important, if there is no strategy, it isn't fun and everyone runs around like an idiot. This is an unofficial vote, so reject it guaize.
unless people are using alts not on the QC list, half the people who are saying reject aren't on the QC list. So there are actually only 2 rejects while there look to be 4.
It is both said in the guideline post and reinforced by the QC that only QC members should bold reject/approve for that very reason.
How will we determine when to draw the line? Will we accept gimmicky themes up to a certain count or maybe when they're made by well-known likable authors. There's no standard to accepting 'themes' of this nature. It holds no semblance to any of the other themes which require some level of strategy and therefore shouldn't be considered as such. Indeed. I cant see how facilitating malice would be productive. It will only increase tension for the next theme and create a chain. Analyze the theme and make a decision based on its validity, not its prospect. We already have unique but well thought out themes like Caterpie, Fruit and Space Invaders to allow for a change of pace in mafia. I'm not in favor of this so it's rejected. [5]
oh, btw @Oh So Shoddy, I changed my post due to the discussing that went through, not giving up a war. I like Daypix, but I was on the fence about it, and to be honest I'd retract my earlier posts. I still think it wouldn't be a harm, but I'm pretty neutral when it comes to a simple, almost non-Mafia theme.
