http://pastebin.com/Pe3iBn3v Above is a list of what moves I can remember are considered "attacks" by Challenge Cup, yet require a special condition be met to even use. I believe those moves should not count as "attacks" to Challenge Cup (since I know it forces at least one attacking move per Pokemon), since they are the epitome of unreliable and only seem to make a Pokemon entirely useless. The most common offender is Natural Gift, since it is extremely widespread, yet requires a Berry to be held by the user, as well as can only be used once in the match (bar Recycle).
I agree with them all except last resort. Because you can use last resort by using the 3 other moves first, and then last resort, and it has a high BP so there's no problems.
Here's a list of Pokemon that can learn just Baton Pass and Last Resort: Eevee and all his evolutions, Mew, Sentret, Furret, Togepi, Togetic, Togekiss, Aipom, Ambipom, Torchic, Combusken, Blaziken, Skitty, Delcatty, Plusle, Minun and Spinda. Here's a list of Pokemon that can learn just Healing Wish and Last Resort: Clefairy, Clefable, Chansey, Blissey, Chimecho, Latias, Jirachi and Shaymin (including Shaymin-S). Celebi, Buneary and Lopunny learn Baton Pass, Healing Wish and Last Resort. Latios learns only Memento and Last Resort. Smeargle learns Baton Pass, Healing Wish, Memento, Lunar Dance and Last Resort. That's a fair amount of Pokemon. Granted, the probability of getting both, or at least 2, of the required moves is unlikely, but it happens. Therefore, I agree with Chispy.
Oh, now I re-read it and understand what he meant, sorry. What about disallowing Sleep Talk + Choice item, as the Choice item breaks it?
????? Sleep talk + choice item can be used in competitive play, and if you have a choice item just don't use sleep talk, as you'll have at least one other offensive move.
This might be a stupid question, I don't know, but how can it be used in competitive play alongside a choice item if it fails after the second use?
Ah, I see. I thought about that being the reason but I figured it would be too unreliable, considering you have to worry about choosing a fire type move with sleep talk and you can't use a move after that. But if it works, then ignore my stupidity.
Yeah, but the problem I see is that you can't attack again because choiced sleep talk doesn't work the second time.
Sticking with the off topic trend, Sleep Talk Heracross makes a pretty fun sleep absorber and often has a choice item. With the Guts boost any of your moves is likely to do a lot to almost any foe.
Are you sure sleep is a guts boosted status? My friend used A sleeptalk guts machamp, which he complained didn't work because sleep wasn't a guts status.
Sleep is boosted when it's inflicted by the opponent. And shuca berry works once too. Whatever, let's stop arguing about this.
to solve 99% of problems in general, you can just go about the same way nintendo goes about with their challenge cup (via pokemon stadium 2) and just have premade pokemon movesets and such that is a more CC like manner (i.e. have stuff like pin missle jolt etc) and not make it random OU. just throwing that idea out there
anyway, I disagree on the Sleep Talk + Choice banning. we shouldn't try to make CC like OU, just try to make it workable. if this is implemented, what's next? "please have special moves with specs" etc?
