(20:49:03) +zeroality: mib post as simulator suggestion to limit it (20:49:12) mibuchiha: lolk So yeah, either limit what can be input into the field or make it unlimited. Both are solutions~
Unlimited would be silly, you could have some stupidly big names making logs unreadable. Same as games is overly limiting. Somewhere between the two seems sane.
Rather, how about a 20 character limit? I always wanted to give my Dragonite the nickname "Dragon Knight." It didn't fit! :(
Apparently not strictly adhering to the ingame limit is one of the gripes about Pokemon Online for some people (iirc Antar posted that on Smogon) so we may want to consider that.
Black and white 2 has a limit of 5 characters, I don't think we should change it to fit the actual game: 20 characters sounds good
The reason for that is because Japanese characters make sounds, and not letters, which takes up less space. The character limit in the English names is 10 iirc.
Okay, no point in continuing posting here. Enough has been said. The developers have enough information to make a decision.
