So, with a significant amount of help from ete, Shadowfist, and Big Cheese, I've started on a little Monotype project in the wiki. Naturally, however, I can't provide all the info I'd like, so that's why I'm posting here. It'd be quite nice if others could help us build the pages, and/or help fill out my information (which is by no means complete!). In particular, I've put up a Monobug page, but am lacking information on not only a ton of Bug-types, but on its matchups with certain types--see under Poison and Ground. Dark could use some filling in as well. For a small discussion on how we decided to build the Monotype analyses, here is the relevant thread. To create a monotype article, click the type you want to edit on the list below. If the type exists, proceed to edit. If the type doesn't, create a new page! Needed: [wiki]Monotype/Fire[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Grass[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Poison[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Ground[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Rock[/wiki] Created: [wiki]Monotype/Dragon[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Flying[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Water[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Electric[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Bug[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Fighting[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Ghost[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Normal[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Ice[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Psychic[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Steel[/wiki] [wiki]Monotype/Dark[/wiki] The format of a Monotype page can be seen by going to aforementioned Monobug Article or any of the other "Created" Monotype pages and clicking EDIT. Some parts to note, when editing, are: 1. At the bottom of the page, make sure to include [[Category:Guides]][[Category:Monotype]]. 2. To get the pretty Pokemon pictures with their stats out, type {{Threatlist|pkmn=Name}} 3. In matchups, use {{Typeimg|Type}} to get the type's relevant icon. Also, when linking a Pokemon page in any blurbs, follow this format: Link to the Pokemon's highest tier analysis. If the Pokemon has no analyses, link to the tier that Pokemon belongs to. For example, Cinccino has no analysis, but belongs in the LU tier, so use {{5glu|Cinccino}} for Cinccino's tag. Meanwhile, Togekiss belongs in UU, but has an OU analysis, so use {{5gou|Togekiss}}. Snorlax both belongs in and only has a UU analysis, so use {{5guu|Snorlax}}. BTW, for aspiring wikifiers, you can link to a Pokemon's analysis page by typing {{5gtier|Pokemon}}. So an LU analysis would {{5glu|Pokemon}}, an Ubers analysis would be {{5gubers|Pokemon}}, then {{5gou|Pokemon}} and so on. There are some times when you might want to link to a lower tier, as with weather abusers like Sawsbuck or super-gimmicky Pokemon like Aron. Use your own judgement as to when this is appropriate. If you can help out, it'd be greatly appreciated, and also you'll be my best friend forever. ;) Also Monotype is awesome, so it totally deserves your effort >:O
God I wish I could right now, but I'm going on holidays etc :( However, I'd be glad to help you out a bit when I'm back, assuming there's still some work to do =P (been 7th on the ladder last time I checked just btw) Edit: Ok, maybe I'll take some time off my vacation, since it is Monotype...
Of course there's still work to do, I've only got 1 type out of 17 down, and even that one is still a bit incomplete. XD
Well, so far I've done the Volbeat analysis since I know him from a bit of usage in random ass Baton Pass teams, which will probably simply apply to Monotype. I don't see him do anything else anyway xD Next... I'll probably do the Monofighting analysis since it's pretty much the type I used my whole life... until I got a bit bored with it. Also it's already partially done, so that might just come in handy for me to rip some parts off. xD (jk)
Got the Monofighting format up: Here we go Can't fill it in right now due to outside matters, but I'll get to it. In the meantime, feel free to fill in the blanks. EDIT: MonoGhost is now up as well.
Helped out a bit more on Monofighting. (Please check if I didn't just write random bs in there, because it's 3 f*cking AM right now and my brain wants me to sleeeeeeeeep...) Will have time for more edits (without being half asleep) in a week or so...
Have to comment about bug page that steel is almost impossible matchup if the Heatran carries Stone edge and is otherwise normal air balloon set. Stone edge one shots any version of Volcarona.
@-MMM- A few typos (easily fixed), but excellent stuff. :D Thanks for the Infernape analysis, in particular. Also, my experiences with MonoFlying must have been far worse than yours. :I Doesn't help that every fricken MonoFlying has to pack a fricken Skarmory. @Xinc Good to hear. :) @Kefka Stone Edge Heatran? .-. Do people actually run that?
Well atleast i do cause Volcarona and some fire mono threats. I recommend trying it. It's monotype after all, not regular tier.
Note to self: You can do analyses even at 3 AM. XD Infernape helps out with Skarm and can also dispatch, depending on its moveset (it learns HP Ice, ThunderPunch AND Stone Edge!), Gliscor, (Non-Scarf-)Gyarados, (once again, only non-scarf, but it's often EBelted with Sheer Force anyway) Landorus and random Bug or Grass types, all but the last being surprise killed, assuming Nape uses Flamethrower first and isn't locked into it afterwards. Nasty Plot Lucario and Keldeo can also fuck with Skarmory. But yeah, it's also a key point to remove him and I think I mentioned that. Also lol Stone Edge Heatran. As if anyone lets Volcarona stay in on Heatran (unless ofc HP Ground and balloon is broken)
Lol WTF? ...ok. But there should be SOMETHING else that can switch into him and deal with him better... ._.
@Kefka Clood That's true, but sadly the Monotype analyses aren't going to be THAT specific. XD For a MonoBug, there really isn't anything that can deal with Heatran besides Heracross (hence my matchup description of Steel vs Bug). That thing is the bane of MonoBug teams. MonoFire, I can see other ways they can deal with Heatran, but overall I wouldn't be surprised if they let Volcarona stay in. Probably assume they'll boost up enough to break through eventually, as their HPs are usually picked to hit Fire at least neutrally.
Pinsir, Yanmega with HP Ground, Heracross, hell even use Vacuum Wave Scyther, Shedinja with Dig or fricken Surskit........ If you overprepare for Heatran you CAN deal with it XD ~only take the first 3 srsly pls
@Hobbes Great! Do you want me to put up the format, or d'ya want to do it yourself? @MMM There's honestly very little reason to run Pinsir; it's basically just Heracross with no STAB on its fighting moves (IIRC, no Close Combat either). Yanmega with HP Ground can work if it isn't choiced, since Choicing into a Ground move usually doesn't turn out well. So that's about 3, with only Volca able to switch in on Fire attacks--not very well, though. XD
Pinsir can deal with it though. Afaik it does get CC but Superpower kinda works too wit his ability... Which has admittedly just about as much reason to be used as Pinsir himself, but I was just listing random things that can deal with Heatran, as I already mentioned.
It does get Close Combat, after checking; Hyper Cutter does not block self-inflicted attack nerfs, so Close Combat is still better. In any case, I'm sure you guys have more information than this :P MonoGhost is still practically empty, and MonoFighting hasn't updated since the last matchup updates.
Just kinda passing by this and saw, wanted to get into working wiki stuff...so I think I can offer some help on monotype since I've run several things in monotype so I willing to help if you toss me the template you've been using. I'll probably have to re-make several of my monoteams to get a feel to correctly write a wiki on them and maybe add to the teams I have, but I'm more than willing to write some things.
The Monofighting page is almost complete, I might need some help on the last few bits (I'm working on it alone right now besides a few spelling/link checks, lol). After that I'll help out with Monoelectric and maybe Monoghost...
Yeah, I noticed. XD I was just about to make the format for Celestial Phantom and then suddenly I find out MonoElectric was made while I was still typing. :P Saves me the trouble of building the skeleton, though. Celestial, you can build off of what MMM's got.
K monoelectric is a team that I know pretty well as in strong pokes and counters I'll be looking off one of the other templates for now to see how its set up but other than that i'll pop in if i have any questions.
Guess I saved you some work then :P I was considering doing some more work but eventually got sick of it. (literally :S ) I just saw Monodragon isn't up either, so that's the next thing I'll take care of.
Monoelectric can function just as well without Stealth Rocks, and Stunfisk isn't that hard to 2HKO due to its bad defensive typing. I still have my doubts about whether to mention it or not though...
Updated first post with current Monotype analyses. No, MMM, you are not the only one who still cares about this :P I was unable to log on the last few days because Pokemon Online wasn't working for me (I assume it has something to do with the DoS).
My watchlist doesn't say so. It shows me 6 changes in the Monotype section throughout the last 3 weeks and only one of them wasn't me... that was you. Sure the DoS attacks were a bit of a problem (I couldn't log in those times either) but that alone couldn't have been it either... In any case, if anyone still has something to contribute to the Wiki, go ahead...
Currently, it seems to be you and me :P Although, I do wonder where Hobbes went with his MonoFlying, along with someone else I asked on the server. XD
Omfg it's down to 2 Users contributing... How did this happen? .___. Pretty much it's like... Hobbes, Kefka, Cele a̶n̶d̶ ̶X̶i̶n̶c̶ disappeared XD Well, if noone else wants to (and I'm pretty sure, noone else wants to) I'll do Monoice soon... (actually it turns out I'm not really motivated right now)
cannot create a new page, i followed the procedure but i cannot find a window where i can start typing.. it says something like it is limited to Users only
Well, you need to register on the Wiki. Request an account here: http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/showthread.php?14578
Updated first post a bit with other created pages. If anyone could help us with matchups, that'd be greatly appreciated; that is usually the most abandoned portion of each analysis ^_^' The most complete Matchups section, in MonoBug, is still missing Poison and Ground.
