Make it so you can make italics on the server just by using /text/. You might be wondering 'Why is this in Simulator Suggestions when this could probably be done via the Pokemon Online Scripts?'. Well, shut up. I'm sure that little feature would be nifty for all servers to put sum oomph in their writings.
I agree with this suggestion, if it's not that hard to implement, then put it in. However, I'm not sure how this would tie in with lag issues.
Well, italics help people emphasize words and could be useful if people wanted to discuss books! Italics help promote better grammar, and we all want the world to be a more educated place, don't we? I agree it'd be pretty cool, but I doubt it's going to get implemented.
Survey every "server owner", and prove it. Spoiler ~I also suggest green/blue/red text, which is already in some scripts....and not sure if in PO server scripts (e.g., >CreatingThatArrowPointingRightWillMakeThisTextGreenColoured )
Fine, make it so Server Owners can turn it off or something. But it's a cool command. And if Server owners don't like it they can make scripts that blocks "/text/" from being used. So win win.
This could be client side feature, to make emphasis on certain patterns. *word* for bold _word_ for underline /word/ for italics. If this kind of this is to be added, it should be client to decide whether to use rich text or plain.
Writing html tags by hand is bad behaviour and should not be required or even allowed. CanUseHTML doens't limit what text can be represented.
Well, The chat is already ugly with all the profanity and /me. Even if it is released, its going to be 'on' for a day and when people start trolling, they'll switch it off permanently. (Like /rainbow)
Yeah :D But why ? You don't need LOTS of attention in private channels. THere are hardly 10 people and 5 of them keep mum in every channel... Neutral to it. Don't care if it is kept and don't care if it isn't. - Don't mind me -
Like? This is already possible with scripting, some other features on the simulator can't be done by scripting.
What's the point? If you can add it via scripts, let certain servers decide if they want it or not. Yeah, you can add a feature so Owners can configure it, but it's still more practical to just let the scripters for individual servers to do it themselves.
Themes, channels, music etc. None of those are needed on a battle simulator :v And while it is possible with scripting, it's also extremely limited. What if the person doesn't want to see italics/bold/underline everywhere? Yeah that can be fixed through scripts, but then you're having to try sending different messages to different people when instead it could be a purely client sided feature where each individual client decides whether or not to display the HTML like Lamperi said.
Why should individual people be given the option to turn off the display for them? It's not like italics are an eyesore, right? Otherwise, I understand what you're saying, I just still don't feel it'd be necessary.
Music: Music is not needed? Well, this is a Battle Simulator (You've said it lol), cartidges haves music, but we give the option to select the music you want. Themes: Unless you want the old and bad designed NetBattle. I'm not against Themes but i'm not accepting them. But it would be a pain to remove. Channels: Well, it's needed if server wants organization, having a load of people inside a same "channel" with multiple scripts functions running isn't good for some people.
I agree with this. Those things are not essential but they make things easier and not boring. Italics don't make things easy or not boring, it's just curvy letters, ooooh.
This has been implemented. https://github.com/lamperi/pokemon-online/commit/7ea03a61e9d326dea6d806c460e348e77aa371fc
So? It's not meant to be spammed, it can be used with care too. I know it will be spammed when the version is released, but eventually it will be more seldom.
