Hmm i like the set and might try it out, but the darm calc is wrong. It deals twice as much damage as you stated. I guess you had raid in your calc... I didnt check th other calcs, since im to lazy, but I wondered how darm could deals so low damage so I had to test that ^^ I think your victini fcalc is wrong to... You prolly had rain there too... Anywhay the calcs are still amazing as they show that you can set up on darm as he switches in, assuming you predict right... And that he doesnt crit xd Reuniclus rly got lucky with its ability...it would be so much worser w/o it... Also do you mean "Haze blastiose is just annoying and beaten by reuniclus?" I doubt it can beat reuni... Only remove boosts till it dies to psychock... Would also make more sense in your text as you say "just" and "just annoying" makes more sense then "just beats" ^^
Thread revival! Random thought I was inspired by on another site: Snorlax @ Custap Berry EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SDef Adamant nature Ability: Gluttony -Belly Drum -Selfdestruct -Earthquake -Crunch / other coverage This would be a damn powerful lure, being able to fire off one mother of a hit with a guarantee thanks to the Custap Berry activating at 50% due to Gluttony. 252 Atk to obviously hit as hard as possible, 252 Def to minimise damage from common priority moves, and 4 SDef is mainly filler. Thoughts? :3
This is an old one but works decent for me c: Arcanine (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate EVs: 188 HP / 70 Atk / 252 Def Adamant Nature - ExtremeSpeed - Flare Blitz - Morning Sun - Will-O-Wisp No one expects a bulkanine this days and its quite useful.
Crobat (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Inner Focus EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brave Bird - U-turn - Cross Poison - Frustration/Quick Attack Kills scarf Mienshao ( I always lose speed ties so.. ) Just randomly tested it and it's quite good. It outspeeds most scarfed Pokemon and kills the pretty easily.
I used this set for a long time in UU, it outspeeds the entire unboosted tier and basically all scarfers excluding something like timid scarf raikou. And then some Mons with boosts, Including something like a bulky Kingdra in rain.
BulkyQueen (Nidoqueen) (F) @ Black Sludge Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Earth Power - Stealth Rock - Toxic Spikes - Roar Great supporter with the ability to switch in on any fighting type in the tier. Sr, Tspikes, and then phaze a bit to spread the toxic and damage :] Epower is reliable STAB. BBspam (Dodrio) (M) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Early Bird EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Brave Bird - Return - Pursuit - Hidden Power [Grass] Coz I fucking can! Outspeeds the whole meta of Scarfed Fighting types baring Mienshao, Can wake up right away from Roserade Sleep powder, and swich in on moves like Leaf blade/Drain Punch/Seed Flare/Earth power/Leaf Storm/Megahorn/Crunch. This thing is actually viable seeing that Brave Bird spamming is pretty threatening in this metagame, especially froma base 110 atk. Return is a reliable STAB move, while Pursuit could possibly kill some interresting stuff like Azelf. Hidden power grass is there for Rhyperior, Being a 2HKO on Physical defensive ones. Bronzong completely walls this thing. Rest can be used over Hp Grass, actually viable with Early bird.
So I tried this set out and it works like a charm, I am currently using Cresselia as a special wall for it but looking for another one with better typing synergy. (let me know if you have any ideas) One thing I found out with this set: It loves to be Tricked! If you have Stealth Rocks up already and you get tricked a Choice Band, all attacks become monstrous, I use Rock Blast/Earthquake/Dragon Tail and all 3 moves work really well. Rock Blast is for Pokes that are behind a sub and serve as kind of a threat to the rest of my team. Dragon Tail is good for racking up hazard damage and flustering the Opponent, as well as stopping Physical Sweepers and causing a lot of damage on them so it will be near impossible to setup later in the game. and Earthquake for naturally just hitting hard, a 100 BP move with STAB coming off of a 140 base attack will put a hole in anything that doesn't resist it, and at the same time absorbing physical hits! Overall this is an amazing set that can hit hard and take hits with 0 effort and will be finding a spot on a lot of my future UU teams.
Just one note; the odds of it being Tricked a Choice Band are slim at best. Most likely it'll be given a Choice Scarf, which won't really help it much...
Rhyperior @ Life Orb Trait: Solid Rock EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 SDef Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd) - Ice Punch - Earthquake - Rock Blast - Megahorn Trick Room abuser. Ice Punch for Flygon and Gligar (you have to hit Gligar on the switch though, it's too bulky >.<). EQ is the main STAB move, it just does heavy damage. Max HP/Max Def Swampert for example is 2HKO'd. Rock Blast hits Zapdos through a Substitute, and imo it's better than Stone Edge also because it is twice as accurate. Megahorn OHKO's Umbreon, who is very annoying to TR teams because of its Protect stalling. It also does a solid 70% to Slowbro minimum, so EQ + Megahorn is a guaranteed kill. Trick Room is very underrated, especially in UU where you have amazing users of the move like Bronzong, Cofagrigus, Porygon2 and Victini. Even Xatu is perfectly viable for dealing with annoying hazard stack teams.
Go with Stone Edge over Rock Blast. Since that set's supposed to sweep, Stone Edge's superior power makes it the better choice.
What does it kill that Rock Blast doesn't though? Also keep in mind that you have Ice Punch, which OHKO's standard ParaFlinch Togekiss even without Rocks up. If anything Stone Edge leaves you vulnerable to Pressure Stall by Zapdos, and it can definitely miss against Balloon Chandelure who can kill you with Energy Ball.
Rock Blast only has 10% more accuracy. And you only have a 20% chance of it hitting for above 60 power. Stone Edge is just a lot more consistent and reliable. Stone Edge always OHKOs bulky Zapdos with no hazards, which Rock Blast doesn't always do. I just think always hitting for 100 power is better than sometimes hitting for 125. Rock Blast could be good for Substitute stalling I guess, but that tactic is very rare.
10% more accurate in this case means twice as accurate. That's considerably more accurate :x Also the way Rock Blast works is that you have 66% chance to hit 2 or 3 times, and 33% chance to hit 4 or 5 times (as of gen V). Max HP/Max Def Bold Zapdos is very rare, and imo not worth using Stone Miss for :x Then again it doesn't really matter all that much.
Sorry if my wording was confusing. Clearly 1/10 miss rate is twice as accurate as 1/5 miss rate which means Rock Blast is better. Sorry that you got confused ;)
uhh, if you factor in accuracy and rock blast's hit rate stone edge has a higher average damage if you're using rhyperior as a wall then rock blast's higher hit rate and ability to break subs is more attractive, but on a more offensive set such as LO set you posted, you want more consistent damage output, so stone edge is the way to go
Well, at the same time, some people would rather have an extra 10% chance of doing /any/ damage than having a consistent 100 BP. Personally, I think Stone Edge is better unless you happen to have a problem with Subs, but its not as cut and dry as you are making it to be.
That's basically what I meant to say. Both moves have their advantages and it's really about preference. Stone Edge also OHKO's Heracross which Rhyperior can't do with any other move unless you get a four-hitter with Rock Blast (though after two SR switchins a three-hitter will do the job). But I use this set with Cofagrigus on the same team and with Trick Room everything outspeeds Heracross so it's less of an issue. You already have Ice Punch for Flying-types and Megahorn for Grass-types, and EQ takes care of all the rest, so I just prefer Rock Blast for Subs and it's better reliability accuracy-wise.
can people please stop shitting up this thread with poor posts? That includes you MeowMix. If posts are made without adding a set to the discussion I will be more than likely to delete (and maybe infract depending on content) from here on out! For example: Here's a set I've enjoyed using a lot lately. Empoleon (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Torrent EVs: 48 HP / 252 SAtk / 208 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Hydro Pump - Grass Knot - Ice Beam - Stealth Rock Makes a great SR supporter on an offensive team. Beats the common spinners (beats Blastoise ez, 2kos Hitmontop, beats claydol) and Xatu. Hydro hits like a tank, especially with Torrent activated. GK can usually catch bulky waters by surprise. Ice Beam gives coverage. One of the things I love the most about this set is that it does so well against common Special walls. Umbreon can't touch it, so I am free to simply stay in and fish for a freeze (lol). Snorlax avoids a 3hko from Hydro, so I have to be careful with PP. However, non-eq versions can't really touch him, and so I can force him to rest and switch on the rest to something that forces him out. Once Lax is asleep it becomes way easier to whittle him down and break through. Speed is for base 85s. This thing is sexy use it.
Chandelure (Houndoom) (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 Atk / 244 SDef / 12 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Sucker Punch - Pursuit - Body Slam - Fire Fang This isn't the best Doom set out there, but it sure as hell does a fantastic job of killing off Chandelure and victini. When i made this set, Doom is meant to switch in and out alot, body slam for filler, and Fire Fang as another stab attack.
What about a post discussing a posted set? For example: I like that Empoleon set, I can't really think of many changes to it without changing the point of the set (like making it a fully defensive support set). How does Surf > Hydro work out? I'm sure it does miss out on a lot of 2HKO's but then if you miss Hydro it's a 3HKO anyway. (that and the extra PP of Surf.) But what in particular does it lose? I saw Hitmontop up there, but you don't 2HKO it without rocks anyway. 252 SpAtk Empoleon (+SpAtk) Hydro Pump vs 252 HP/252 SpDef Hitmontop (+SpDef) : 42.76% - 50.66% With lefties you can't 2HKO, outside of torrent anyway. But I mean, 252 SpAtk Torrent Empoleon (+SpAtk) Hydro Pump vs 252 HP/252 SpDef Hitmontop (+SpDef) : 64.14% - 75.99% vs 252 SpAtk Torrent Empoleon (+SpAtk) Surf vs 252 HP/252 SpDef Hitmontop (+SpDef) : 50.66% - 60.2% Where you're still getting the 2HKO unless you get min twice (which can happen obviously, but a lot less likely than getting 2 max Hydro's due to the miss chance. Articuno @ BrightPowder Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Roost - Ice Beam - Protect I've got to admit this set is as gimicky as they come, [saying that I could swap Ice Beam for Swagger, lol.] Brightpowder gives you 10% more evasion, so moves like Fire Blast and Stone Edge that are likely to be coming towards Articuno are even more inaccurate, and due to their low PP of 8, down to 4 with pressure essentially when factoring in the substitute and protect the opponent isn't going to be threatening you for long. The speed is just to try and get the sub up on a bunch of things, like non-scarf Chandelure amongst others. It would be possible to run Max HP > Max Sp.Atk but then if taunted you can become somewhat dead weight. Sub for Scouting moves on slower opponents and blocking status. Roost for recovery due to no lefties. Ice Beam prevents taunt bait and Protect scouts vs faster or choiced opponents. This set will probably get you sworn at at at least one point of using it. To quote the Smogon page for brightpowder; Quick examples: http://pastebin.com/LLECjETm : obviously the freeze and crit were lucky but the point was earlier on. http://pastebin.com/6UGdCaKt : again lucky but still :( [Offtopic] I believe I correctly used the word at three times in a row, which I thought was kind of cool, lol.[/Offtopic]
Well...using specially defensive hitmontop as opposed to a physically defensive set has its merits. Some players prefer for their hitmontop to be bulky on both sides of the spectrum (physically and specially), and this is achieved due to Intimidate and by reserving evs in the specially defensive department. This gives hitmontop a 'well rounded' defensive prowess, enabling it to serve multiple roles as opposed to fewer roles as a purely physically defensive wall and spinner.
Hmm... I prefer to use the subpetaya set as it's alot better (i think so anyway) vs that damn Hitmontop. Of course i am assuming empoleon has it's Petaya activated due to a area of opening to set up: Spoiler +1 252+ SpA Torrent Empoleon Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Hitmontop: 321-378 (105.59 - 124.34%) -- guaranteed OHKO +1 252+ SpA Torrent Empoleon Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD (calm nature just to boost the special defence, but not like anyone uses calm on top anyway)Hitmontop: 292-345 (96.05 - 113.48%) -- 75% chance to OHKO [/HIDE] I thought i was sure when subpetaya was the most popular set... Hmm... Anyway... BeastluBug (Accelgor) (F) @ Bug Gem Trait: Unburden EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Final Gambit - Giga Drain - Guard Split - Bug Buzz I like this set, Giga Drain for filler, Bug Buzz for a nasty stab attack, Guard split to cripple defence pokemon, and final gambit if you know you can't KO it with anything... IN GENIUS!
First off all, ily for using Accelgor <33333333 Ok on to business... I've used a similar set before with Focus Blast instead of Guard Split and put all of the Speed EVs into HP so as to take maximum benefits out of Final Gambit. You're sitting at 330 Speed (with a 242 HP / 252 SAtk / 16 Spe spread to outspeed positive speed natured base 100s as well as any Raikou not running a speed boosting nature), which increases to 660 after Unburden's effect. IMO this is more than enough to outspeed your opponents. Even a Choice Scarf Ninjask with a neutral speed nature can't outspeed you with the given EVs. Another possible alteration would be to consider adding Hidden Power Flying somewhere onto the set, as this gives you coverage against Heracross and Mienshao, which currently sit at the #2 and #3 usage spots.
Final Gambit won't be doing too much unless you maximize HP EVs... Is Focus Blast more usable for that EV spread?
[Hero] (Escavalier) (M) @ Custap Berry Trait: Swarm EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Megahorn - Iron Head - Reversal - Endure Saved me from alot of late game sweeping! This thing is probably pretty self explanary. Most people seems to be happy when it outspeeds the Slowbro/Slowking/Snorlax/Amoonguss/Random base 30. NOPE. I want to outspeed Rhyperiors too, which can easily be a pain in my arse and a waste of custap berry :[ sooo ye. Chandelure is a HUGE threat, so should be paired with Snorlax, Zweilous, Porygon 2 or... Priority (Hitmontop) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Technician EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd or 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fake Out - Mach Punch - Pursuit - Sucker Punch Great revengekiller! Can also trap threatening pokes like Chandelure! Fake out+MachPunch/Sucker Punch OHKOs the likes of Sharpedo, Ambipom, Mienshao, Victini and Azelf! Also does a decent amount of damage to the rest! Not really sure why it's invested in speed tho.
That Escavalier set is godly and can be used almost anytime during the game, especially if you find yourself in a tough spot. It can function as an amazing revenge killer as well by means of the Endure-Custap combo. And yeah Hitmontop's remaining EVs should go into HP as it has no use for speed due to all of its moves being +1 priority.
Thread revive! Piloswine (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Thick Fat EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Stealth Rock / Stone Edge - Icicle Spear / Icicle Crash - Ice Shard - Earthquake Piloswine is really rare, and even if it's used, it's usually a specially defensive variant. I decided to try a more offensive version, which is something you'd typically find in NU, and it's proven to be very effective for me, helping me get rid of UU's most common threats, such as Zapdos, Chandelure, Raikou, or Flygon. It hits 328 Atk fully invested, which is not bad at all, and is really hard to OHKO if played right thanks to its bulk when an Eviolite is slapped onto it
