±Porygon: Your rank in Wifi OU is 1/96825 [1736 points / 194 battles]! Introduction Hello everybody. It took me a while to get it, but here is my new #1 team. It was a bit harder this time (as you can see from the amount of battles), because some other people got very high on the ladder. As always, I try to be original as possible, while not letting the effectiveness of the team drop because of it. I hope you enjoy my team and have fun playing with it, if you decide to do so. Anyways, I'll keep the introduction brief this time, so you can go see what my team looks like. The team is based around King's Rock Cloyster, even though I made sure to make the rest of the team very offensive as well. You will see that I don't have any walls in this team (unless you count Cloyster as a wall), so I hope the people who love offense will be pleased with this team. I also use a lot of priority move to keep the offensive flow in the team alive. Anyways, enough chatting I will just show you what the team looks like! Glance In Depth Tyranitar (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def) - Stealth Rock - Dark Pulse - Flamethrower - Superpower Tyranitar is the Pokemon that usually leads off. By now, I've grown attached to my Sashtar. It's surprising, has good coverage and still can be used to take special hits like a boss (which is the reason why I use Hasty and not Naive, so Tyranitar can still switch in to Hurricanes from Tornadus). I use full speed so you nearly always outspeed Scizor, Breloom and other Tyranitar and KO them, while they have no idea that Tyranitar can outspeed them and KO with the appropriate move. Now, Tyranitar may not be a team supporter, like it usually is when it's used (used with Landorus or Gliscor or whatever), I use it because it's a good way to control other weather teams. Like I said before, the current moveset gives you the best coverage. Dark Pulse for Psychic types, which in tandem with Superpower hits almost everything at least neutral. Superpower hits Heatran, other Tyranitar and special walls like Chansey trying to absorb special hits. Flamethrower OHKO's most Breloom and Scizor and 2HKO's Skarmory. Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal EVs: 252 HP / 224 Atk / 16 SDef / 16 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Mach Punch - Seed Bomb - Spore Breloom has great synergy with Cloyster, which is the main reason I use it. Breloom takes Fighting, Rock, Grass and Electric attacks aimed at Cloyster. In return, Cloyster can take Ice attacks aimed at Breloom. I chose for a Swords Dance set, because it gives the team a lot more offense with it than if I'd use a slow SubLoom. The EV's make Breloom pretty bulky, being able to switch in to resisted attacks easily (for example Electric attacks from Rotom-W). After a Swords Dance it KO's Terrakion, takes a huge chunk out of Heatran and Mamoswine. If Gliscor lacks Acrobatics, Breloom can even take Gliscor on one-on-one with Seed Bomb. For the moves I use both of Breloom's STABS, because that's all he needs to hit very hard. Even things that resist his attacks are hit hard after a Swords Dance. I use Mach Punch over Drain Punch because Breloom is a bit too frail to make good use of it without Bulk Up. A bit of priority also helps the team keep it's offensive flow. Starmie @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 32 HP / 252 SAtk / 224 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rapid Spin - Thunder Wave - Thunderbolt - Surf My Thunder Wave Starmie makes a return. Starmie is here to keep annoying rocks off, so Dragonite and Cloyster can switch in without having to take 25% of damage. This time it's a more offensive variant of Starmie I'm using, because this is an offensive team. I use no Recover because Starmie won't be taking many hits with this offensive spread and I need both Thunder Wave, to create more chances for Cloyster to set up, and Thunderbolt, to take on other Water types which are a nuisance to Cloyster. Scizor (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 56 Atk / 140 SDef / 60 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Bug Bite - Bullet Punch - Roost Scizor has always been a top Pokemon since D/P. It's still as awesome as ever, and I especially like the Swords Dance version of Scizor. Scizor is here to take Dragon attacks, which my team otherwise has no good answer for. After a single Swords Dance, it can take on so many things and with that great bulk it has it can get up multiple Swords Dances. The EV's that I've given makes sure that Scizor can take a HP Fire from Celebi and take some neutral special attacks. The moves seem obvious, I make use of both STABS so that Scizor can hit as hard as possible. This means it won't hit Skarmory very hard, but Scizor isn't going to beat Skarmory anyways (and it's not his purpose). I use Roost so I can get in multiple boost and keep Scizor healthy during the game so it can keep coming in. Again, a priority move (Bullet Punch) is great for this team, it keeps the team very offensive and helps out a lot. Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: Multiscale EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - ExtremeSpeed - Outrage - Dragon Dance - Fire Punch Yes, I know it's not very original, but this team really appreciates what Dragonite brings with it. Dragonite gives me a very good defence versus other weather teams (especially sun teams) and can weaken everything mid-game so that Cloyster can come in and cleanup. Dragonite gives me a needed resistance to Fighting, Fire and a immunity to Ground. I don't have too much to say about it, because I'm sure most of you out there know what this thing can do. Again, a priority move in ExtremeSpeed is extremely (ha ha) useful to the team, keeping that offensive flow. Cloyster (F) @ King's Rock Trait: Skill Link EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Icicle Spear - Ice Shard - Shell Smash - Rock Blast And the star of the show, Cloyster. Cloyster is a boss, he can take on a lot of teams after their initial counter is gone. With King's Rock, it can even take on that initial counter with some hax. With some paralyzation on the other team thanks to Thunder Wave Starmie, it becomes even worse (for the opponent that is). With King's Rock, both Icicle SPear and Rock Blast have a 40% chance to flinch the enemy, which is a great help if something isn't KO'd by it's attacks. The EV's give Cloyster a chance to take a physical attack after it used Shell Smash. The Speed is set to 198, so it can outspeed stuff like Jolteon and Aerodactyl (although rare, but I had to choose something to outspeed) after the boost. Ice Shard is there for Scarfed Pokemon like Landorus and gives clean OHKO's after a boost. Taking everything into account, this thing is just incredibly fun to use and I hope you give it a try, too. Finishing Thoughts I hope you enjoyed this RMT and that you have a fun time using the team (if you are planning to use it). If you have any questions about the team let me know and I'll try to answer them for you! My next #1 team will probably be in UU, so all you people out there who're playing UU, you should look forward to that, haha. Thanks for reading and ciao! xAshton Importable Spoiler Tyranitar (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def) - Stealth Rock - Dark Pulse - Flamethrower - Superpower Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal EVs: 252 HP / 224 Atk / 16 SDef / 16 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Mach Punch - Seed Bomb - Spore Starmie @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 32 HP / 252 SAtk / 224 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rapid Spin - Thunder Wave - Thunderbolt - Surf Scizor (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 56 Atk / 140 SDef / 60 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Bug Bite - Bullet Punch - Roost Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: Multiscale EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - ExtremeSpeed - Outrage - Dragon Dance - Fire Punch Cloyster (F) @ King's Rock Trait: Skill Link EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Icicle Spear - Ice Shard - Shell Smash - Rock Blast
Hey gratz on #1 yet again! You may wanna run 236 HP EV's on Breloom to reach a poison heal number which grants it better recovery and move the leftover Ev's to Sp.def for more bulk. Nice team, Can't find any other flaws! What does deefizzy mean anyway lol :P
Congratulations on getting to the top of the ladder again, Marik. :D The team looks pretty good, I'll be sure to test it on the ladder and let you know if I need help. (Assuming that you'll help me like you've done before :P) Also, you forgot an importable version. :x
You wanted me to comment so, Gratz on making 1# again and very nice team etc. I just wanted to ask why 60 Speed EVs on Scizor? And are u happy now
Haha yup. The speed is there to outspeed Politoed and others who dwell around 178, like other Scizor and bulky Water types like Jellicent.
Congratulations on getting #1 (again... xD) By the moment I see one troubling pokémon, the CM Jirachi set with Wish / Psyshock / Water Pulse / CM under Rain, so what would you do against it :/
Congrats on the peak, i never get even to a thousandth of that.... Just one thing, when Cloyster has boosted, doesn't cloyster outspeed scarfed pokes already?
this team is awesome. congrats for the peak! how does cloyster get that 40% chance of flinching? is that always the rate of flinching? does shell smash somehow affect the flinch rate? Edit: nvm, i searched smogon about the item and found out that the flinch rate goes to 40, due cloyster hitting five times. pretty cool i guess
from experience i can say this is a pretty sexy team, gj with it ashton- and ^ that guy above, alot of scarfers outspeed +2 cloyster
Thanks guys! @IAmAGeeAm: Nope, because I don't use full speed. If you want to outspeed most scarfers you would have to go Jolly and I don't want to sacrifice the extra power. Ice Shard is also handy when I don't have a boost, so I can revenge kill when somehting like Dragonite is in Outrage.
Your team is as sexy as always <3 I actually am going to use this team once in a while ! Congratulations on topping (again!)
Hey Ashton, you don't know me (well no-one does) but I can see from a glance this is a really well-made team. 1 thing though: Seeing as you have Roost on the Scizor set, why run Lefties? I know the beneficiary effects, but if you can fake a Band it might give you an extra turn of set-up. That's just opinion though. Great team!
Ashton this is more of a personal question (kinda): How do you decide how to EV your pokemon, like Breloom for example - what are the 16 SDef EVs guaranteeing (how many Rotom-W hits)? Grats on using Cloyster, it hasn't gotten much use since everybody found out what shell smash does :( Also grats on no Jirachi, jk :) Have you ever thought of posting another Team Of The Weak, everyone seemed to love your narrations And before I forget, congrats on the peak. Is that 20 or so now? Maybe teambuilding process and/or threat list would be nice. Very difficult to fault the team, band Terrakion looks like it might cause some problems because nothing wants to take a CC but that's hard to stop
^ As it is an Offensive team you can't check all the pokemon. Versus Band Teraikon yes you must sacrifice one poke but that's how such teams work
well defiantly a team I could never use my prediction fails so bad but as always when used by a pro-battler like yourself we can see how effective it is.
How do you keep doing that? :(....Like how are you so good at poggeymanz ;-; Well yeah congratulations man great team. I'l try it sometimes perhaps ._.
dude I effin love this team!!!!!!!!!! its sooooo good. you are clearly teh best battler ever. Can't wait for the next team!! This team is so fun to use and even though I'm not that strong of a battler, I'm learning how to predict and take out cloysters counters so he can come in and start droppin nuckas like its hot!! :DDDD
Nice team! I tried thinking of a few things that could counter the team, but overall, you check anything you can't counter. Heatran in sun is a bitch (espec. Flame Charge ones,) but Mach Punch on Breloom is helpful. Vena in sun w/ Hidden Power [Fire] coverage but your so pro and run Ice Shard on your Cloyster, unlike everyone else, and that checks it alongside SashTar's Flamethrower. Again, nice team! Gratz on #1! I will probably try this team sometime xd Also, 68 evs in speed for Scizor is better so you outspeed CB Tyranitar
Just as always, I sit in front of my computer searching desperately for flaws in your teams. Have I found one yet? No I havent. Keep it up man!
