    The Beast Named Stallrein

    At a glance
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    I. Introduction
Hail, the forgotten weather. Much harder to use than Sandstorm, Sun and Rain, particularly as ice types carry so many common weaknesses. However, in the myriad of ice type pokemon banished to the lower tiers, one shines through - Walrein. Incredible bulk and an amazing ability, he is absolutely amazing on a hail team. As such, i decided to build this team, upon my previous successes with Stallrein. Now, this team has peaked at 1376 (not that that's amazing, but i'm not the best OU battler, so yeah) and i wanted to see were there any suggestion or changes for it. :)

    II. Closer look
    [IMG]
    Comet Baby (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Serene Grace
    EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Stealth Rock
    - Thunder Wave
    - Iron Head
    - Wish
Jirachi, commonly dubbed as Haxrachi takes the place as the SR user on this team. I find Jirachi to be great in this role, almost always being able to set up stealth rock with its bulk. It can then abuse its hated T-Wave/Iron Head to great avail. Wish is there fore healing and has actually helped to heal team mates. I tailored the evs for great bulk whilst making sure Jirachi maintains an offensive presence.
    80 Tentacles (Tentacruel) (F) @ Black Sludge
    Trait: Rain Dish
    EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SDef
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Toxic Spikes
    - Rapid Spin
    - Protect
    - Scald
Tentacruel, is absolutely amazing. With rain dish, he is one of the goddamn bulkiest things in OU. He also serves as the Spinner and toxic spike absorber of this team. Toxic Spikes is also amazing, making Walrein's job just that much easier. I made Tentacruel physical defensive while still being able to tank special hits.
FLOOD ALERT (Politoed) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Drizzle
    EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 72 SDef / 4 Spd
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Scald
    - Perish Song
    - Protect
    - Ice Beam
Politoed, is one of the very reasons for this teams success. By abusing two weather forms i can effectively manage the weather to always put me at an advantage. It also means, weather wars are won that much easier. Politoed is amazingly bulky, and can easily help tank hits for this team. I usually make my own ev's, and this is an ev set that i find that works for politoed. I love Perish Song, and Politoed is my perish song abuser, making sure that sweeps can be cut short and last pokemon can't pull off a full team sweep. Also, perish song has helped me to pull in ties, when it was just politoed. :D
    [IMG]
Batman (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
    Trait: Poison Heal
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Taunt
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Fang
    - Protect
Gliscor, is amazing on a hail team. With great physical bulk, he can take Close Combat's all day long. I chose to use a taunt protect set as i already have Tentacruel giving Toxic Spikes support, so i decided this set was better than the Toxic stall. I dunno about the evs though, too physically defensive?
Frost Tree (Abomasnow) (F) @ Lum Berry
    Trait: Snow Warning
    EVs: 76 HP / 224 Atk / 80 Def / 128 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Swords Dance
    - Ice Shard
    - Earthquake
    - Seed Bomb
Abomasnow, my hail setter. Although yes, a SD set may seem ludicrous, i've found this set to be great. I have had ample opportunities to set up with this Abomasnow, and have even pulled off 6 - 0 sweeps with him. He's also my dragon killer, ice shard doing huge damage. I eved him to be bulky but also offensive.
    Wal ' R ' Us (Walrein) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Ice Body
    EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Substitute
    - Blizzard
    - Surf
    - Protect
Now we come to the star of the team. Provided hail is up, Walrein is virtually impossible to take out. I've used him to beat Scizor 1 on 1, and really, i just find Walrein to be sheer perfection in hail. He can take so many hits and just ... URGHH, EVERYONE SHOULD USE HIM. HE IS SO DAMN GOOD! anyway, he's evs are so he is incredibly bulky and can also score a few kills behind the sub. :)

    III. Conclusion
So yeah, this is my Hail/Rain Team. Please rate or provide suggestions! I have found though, that Spore Bulk Up Breloom rapes me. D: But yeah, any suggestions etc. would be great, thx! :)

    IV. Threat list
Currently, the main threat i've encountered is:
Bulk Up Spore Breloom - rapes gliscor and then the rest of my team FULL STOP.

    [SECRET]Team building process
STEP 1. As this was a hail team, Abomasnow was my first pokemon. However, this team was going to be built around Stallrein, so Walrein was also obvious.
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

STEP 2. I needed a pokemon who could spin away the dreaded Rocks and also be able to tank fighting and fire moves with relative ease. Tentacruel, was perfect for this job.
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

STEP 3. Hail teams need lots of support, and i thought Gliscor was quite possibly one of the best pokemon for this job, as he had great synergy with Tentacruel.
[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

STEP 4. This was when a great idea popped into my head. Why not use Politoed and rain to support Walrein, Abomasnow and Tentacruel? That way, Tentacruel gets a lot more bulk, and Abomsnow has great fire support.
    [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

STEP 5. I realised i needed a Stealth Rock pretty badly, and as such i decided Jirachi was the best choice. Bulky, and able to support using wish and t-wave, she would also be the teams main dragon resist.

If you see a breloom in team preview just make sure gliscor gets in toxic orb as soon as possible, and if they lead with breloom just t-wave it with jirachi (put some speed evs so it will outspeed +speed brelooms)

On Jirachi, I suggest Body Slam over T-Wave. Ground-types will mess Jirachi up. Also, put Toxic over either Surf or Blizzard. I will add more detail later.

care to explain why? I think that it has a good place on his team, and dual weather cores are always good if used properly.

I suggest focus on using one specific weather; rain or hail. It's not a great idea to mix the two together, as you find you will have less flexibility and reliance on your pokemon when it comes to those situations. Because you obviously want Walrein in, I suggest you get rid of Politoed for Kyurem, using an offensive set as your team doesn't seem to have much offense. Also I'm not particularly convinced by your Abomasnow set, it's not really for sweeping. :p

    [secret]Frost Tree (Abomasnow) (F) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Snow Warning
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
    - Focus Punch
    - Ice Shard / Substitute
    - Blizzard
    - Protect / Substitute[/secret]

Protect is to stall a bit but also helps against choiced pokemon, but substitute can be used to help to get Focus Punch in. Blizzard hits the Physically Defensive quite well, and Ice Shard can have priority against pokemon. Focus Punch will hit Tyranitar hard, which can hurt your team.

Otherwise, it's quite a nice team. Encore over Blizzard on Walrein is an interesting choice, you should try it.

Agreeing with archer (though trying to remember the last time he gave an actual rate, they get lost among all the threads that are poorly done/missing importables and have to be locked). Toed is a waste of time and interferes with the team overall as the point is hail and doesn't have too many teams that actively utilize it in the Present OU that being able to change the weather on them is worth it. Also a lot of the spreads seem really random, on defensive mons it may seem like a good idea to put EVs into both Defenses, but really it hurts the overall potential. I've redone the EVs and Replaced Politoed with Kyurem.

    Comet Baby (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Serene Grace
    EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Stealth Rock
    - Body Slam
    - Iron Head
    - Wish

    80 Tentacles (Tentacruel) (F) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Liquid Ooze
    EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spd
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Toxic Spikes
    - Rapid Spin
    - Protect
    - Scald

    Kyurem @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Pressure
    EVs: 160 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 92 Spd
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Draco Meteor
    - Blizzard
    - Focus Blast
    - Dragon Pulse

Batman (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
    Trait: Poison Heal
    EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Taunt
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Fang
    - Swords Dance

Frost Tree (Abomasnow) (F) @ Expert Belt
    Trait: Snow Warning
    EVs: 248 Atk / 144 SAtk / 116 Spd
    Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
    - Wood Hammer
    - Ice Shard
    - Blizzard
    - Hidden Power [Fire]

    Wal ' R ' Us (Walrein) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Ice Body
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
    Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
    - Substitute
    - Blizzard
    - Roar
    - Protect[/HIDE]

Ok of the changes Focused Rachi's Evs into Special Defense and Gave it enough speed to beat max+ Tyranitar. Tentacruel is pointed at the Same Speed tier, however with the physical Defense investment, Giga Drain, and Liquid Ooze it stops Conkellderp like nobody's buisness (also put lefties over Black Sludge as it becomes a pointless weapon against in the case of trick). Kyurem's EVs allow for maximum SAtk and the Ability to beat max+ Alakazam (in short all of OU w/o a Scarf/Speed boost, and even then you get most of the tier 1 (slow) scarfers), while putting the rest in bulk (the 4 Def is for an HP not divisible by 4 due to the simple fact that rocks hurt it like nobody's buisness). Gliscor got a little extra Speed again Max + Tar, and SD over Protect because this way you have some offense without being dependent on Kyurem (power based offensive teams particulary Sand are issues otherwise). the same concept goes for Obamasnow, and the speed gets standard 100 spe Bandtar. Stallrein is now straight Specially defensive as most of the problem pokes are physical to begin with and Has Roar over Surf this allows it to do something to things like Toed or Ferrothorn whom are usually untouchables.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'll change the ev's to make them more focused, and also change it to see how this team works as a pure hail team, rather than a dual weather team. And i'll also try out both the Abomasnow sets. :)

I agree I have run dual weather and loved it but I only do so to ruin others weather I never carry abusers when doing so when you have pokemon such as stallrein which relies on hail I would remove politoad. jirachi might like body slam over thunderwave letting you paralysis threats such as landorus on the switch (sub/swords dance landy is gonna hurt) it's also less usless if tspikes has already toxiced the pokemon the only one you're missing out on statusing is gengar.

In OU this is the abomasnow set I like using

    Abomasnow (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Snow Warning
    EVs: 252 HP / 72 Atk / 184 SDef
    Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
    - Leech Seed
    - Focus Punch
    - Blizzard
    - Substitute

72 attack guarentees a 1hko on 252 hp ttar rest in special defense for awesome rotom-w switch in.

the random ev's/nature on walrein/jirachi are annoying.

    Jirachi @ Leftovers
    Trait: Serene Grace
    EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Body Slam
    - Iron Head
    - Stealth Rock
    - Wish

    (Walrein) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Ice Body
    EVs: 220 HP / 232 Def / 56 Spd Or 232 HP / 252 Def / 24 SpD if base 70 pokemon aren't an issue.
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Substitute
    - Protect
    - Blizzard
    - Super Fang/Surf

Gliscor could use some speed 72 should suffice you could try some different sets as well this set is fun to use and quite unexpected

    Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
    Trait: Poison Heal
    EVs: 244 HP / 192 Def / 72 Spd
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Toxic
    - Earthquake
    - Torment
    - Protect

or you could make it a swords dancer since you are losing swords dance on abomasnow (if you follow my other advice)

    Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
    Trait: Poison Heal
    EVs: 244 HP / 192 Def / 72 Spd
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Swords Dance
    - Earthquake
    - Taunt
    - Facade
