Same here. Same here. It says that it works with Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion on the Download page, call that misinformation. I also tried installing Wine and it appears to be incompatible with my computer's architecture (wtf), in other words I'm screwed!
Of course I'm not, by saying "same here" after the second quote, I directly implied that I was on Leopard, which is the sixth Mac OS X version, in other words an Intel Mac. When it appeared that the Mac version of Pokémon Online wouldn't work on Leopard, I tried the alternative offered on the website which is running the Windows application on Wine. I successfully installed the latter but wasn't able to launch it because it wasn't compatible for some reason. By the way and off topic, does the battle simulator allow you to battle against yourself? Like, can you control both trainers?
Leopard (10.5) is btw the last OS to work on PPC Mac, and the fifth version (there is no 10.0). If you had PPC Mac you wouldn't be able to run Wine for Windows software. No, you can not battle against yourself using one client, but yes, if you have two clients.
I didn't know about that, excuse my ignorance. However, my Mac really is an Intel one with Windows XP installed on a second partition. I rarely boot into Windows though because I rarely need it and it's a pain in the ass to use anyway. Not to forget that my antivirus software has expired and Windows is very prone to viruses. So basically Windows XP is just sitting there doing nothing somewhere inside my hard drive. When do you plan on fixing the Mac version so that it works with Leopard? By the way, there really is a 10.0 and it's called Cheetah: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_v10.0 How does that work? I kind of have a little sister who loves playing Pokémon Stadium with me. I basically create my own Pokémon game on paper and have all battles simulated in Pokémon Stadium 2 (it was PS1 before PS2 was released). However, the game is extremely dated, requires my Nintendo 64 to be hooked up, doesn't have all Pokémon and doesn't allow you to choose moves and levels. The closest thing I found as a Pokémon Stadium 3 is this battle simulator. Unfortunately, I read in the wiki that you can't select levels but I'm hoping that you will one day (please?).
Unfortunately, that is not trivial (because apple doesn't officially support compiling for Leopard on Lion) and I have been working on that for several days. I haven't yet succeeded in compiling the libraries in Leopard compactible mode. ok :) I recommend using two computers as otherwise, you can see the choices you make, but one compuer would work too. You can connect into same server, select the name from the playerlist, challenge and start battling :)
I thank you for working on that and wish you good luck in succeeding. I'm pretty sure that you're going to make a lot of happy new players. My sister has a MacBook Pro with Lion (hey, maybe I could ask her for her OS) so we can easily play in the same room.
I'm new here so I do not know if this is the right place to post but I can't connect to the Pokemon Online 2 server. The moment I connect I get disconnected immidiately. I read the graphic and I came to the conclusion that I was banned. However this server is new and I couldn't connect from the start. When I tried to enter the smogon server it took me a lot of time to join and the chat was silenced so I could not ask for help there. What happened to the original Pokemon Online server? I would appreciate it if someone sends me a message too.
Spoiler I also need alot of help... FIrst of all when i go into battle with the modern window not the old school window, it shows a blank screen but the battle goes on. i can't see any of the pokemon or background, only the moves. When go into battle with the old school window, i send out my pokemon but the opponent doesn't and vice versa. the time 5 minute countdown begins either way. Here is a link to a video about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwCEskKIPn8 Please only post once about the same issue. You already posted here about this. - zeroality
I downloaded this thing twice and I still do not have the desktop icon, nor can I find, pokemon online on my laptop. I'm running Windows 7 and I have no idea what the possible problem is as I have little experience with this sort of thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On a Mac, am guessing am having a similar problem to others. Tis version 10.5.8, so tis a Leopard (Christmas 2008, which fits what Wiki says at least, not really an expert with this...), and PO version 1.0.53 works fine, but both 1.0.6 and now 2.0.02 have resulted in it "Quitting unexpectedly". Tried re-downloading like the flowchart said, to no avail on either version, so joined up and posted to see if any help could be found.
When you install it, check the options to have it on desktop. And when you run it (after the install), right click on Pokémon Online on the task bar and check "Pin this program".
I have made instructions at Developer's Den forum to compile Pokemon Online for Mac. I hope someone with Leopard machine will want to try it. I'll support you during the process as much as I can :x The topic: http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/showthread.php?14313-How-to-run-from-source-on-Mac-(in-progress)
I've been on many times before in the last few months. But now, I'm having troubles with battling. As in, every time I start/watch a battle, both that window and the main window go white with just the blue bits at the top not changed. When I click it, it says not responding. It hasn't done it until today. I'm scanning my computer as I'm writing this, and so far it's found nothing. I haven't downloaded anything (other than PO) for about a year now, and I don't know why this is happening. Is it PO? Or is it something the scan hasn't found yet? I'll tell you if my scan finds something or if it hasn't by the time it's finished. I'm trying to save a picture, but I've found out that I can't open anything to save it in, other than Paint. Do you know how to get a picture from there to here?
Can I download with it still open? I'll have to stop the scan to restart my computer (I can't close PO now), so I won't be able to see if it's a computer problem or something with PO. Unless I can redownload with it open.
Scan finished, nothing found. However, PO has now closed. Should I redownload? Redownloaded now. First battle... same thing happens
Sorry, can't help. Try using another folder, another user account etc. In the end the only way would be to use teamviewer (for me to see what's wrong).
Yes, non of these are my problems. I have tried them all and nothing. Could someone please help me because i would like to upgrade to v2
I don't mean to be a pain, but I followed your chart and according to that apparently my problem is that I am banned from the PO Server. I can't imagine how that would have happened as I was on yesterday for the first time in months and only played a few battles. I've tried using different alts because I was DCed yesterday before I closed the program so I figured it might just not be letting my main alt in, but I am not able to connect under any circumstances. Is there any way I could find out if I was indeed banned, and if so, why that would have happened/how to go about fixing the problem?
Ah, well that would make sense. I was confused because it said there were like 900 players online. Sorry for being a noob.
No dice. Followed graph. I followed http://pokemon-online.eu/forums/sho...okemon-Online-(completely-step-by-step)-linux <--- this guide and got to the "11-A folder named Pokemon-Online will be created. Open it and double clic the file named 'Pokemon-Online'." part. Nothing happens when I double-click "Pokemon Online". Running Ubuntu 12.04. Don't know how to try to open it through the terminal, so I can't give you any error messages. This is frustrating the frack out of me.
"Do you want to run "start-client", or display its contents? "start-client" is an executable text file." Run in Terminal. Display. Cancel. Run. Which one do I choose?
EDIT: So yeah, it was the fracking music/cries. Any way to fix that? I really want to be able to use them. And also even if I manualy enable music now nothing plays. Dafuq? New problem. For some reason, whenever I try to connect to a battle now, the whole program freezes. Here is what the terminal says: Setting new source New source: QUrl( "file:///home/dalset/PokémonOnline/pokemon-online/Music/Battle/Battle.mp3" ) Transitioning to state "playing" State change Moving from "null" 0 to "ready" 1 Duration message State change Stream changed to file:///home/dalset/Pok%C3%A9monOnline/pokemon-online/Music/Battle/Battle.mp3 State change Setting new source New source: QUrl( "" ) Transitioning to state "playing" State change Moving from "null" 0 to "ready" 1 QObject: Cannot create children for a parent that is in a different thread. I am trying to create a server and i have no idea what i am doing, i need alot of help. First of all i cant connect to the server i made it says "Error while connected to server -- Received error n°0: Connection refused", but it does connect me to the server (i think it does anyways) when i change the advanced connection to 127.0.0.1:5080 and i tried to get my friends to get on the server and they said they connected fine, but when i pull up the players list from the server options all i can see is myself and im in the server but i dont see them. Also why is our server's pokeball grey?
127.0.0.1 won't connect them to your server, it'll connect them to their own. Follow this tutorial carefully, and make sure you port forward/edit your firewall config properly: http://wiki.pokemon-online.eu/view/Running_a_PO_Server Because your server is password protected.
I followed the flowchart and my problem still continues. I can't connect to the registery and when I try the advanced connection I get "Error while connected to server -- Received error n°7: Connection timed out." I'm not at school and I allowed PO through my firewall
The registry currently is down. You can type Pokémon Online - 188.165.249.120:6080 in the advanced box to connect.
