Alright, so Fire Fang hits through WonderTomb, and i havent been able to figure out why. If anyone can find out, it would be greatle appreciated. It also hits through WonderEye, and any other pokemon that happened to get Wonder Guard. The other elemental fangs dont work with this, as do no other fire moves. Refrences: Smogon Bulbapedia Youtube Go to 2:10 to see it if you dont want to see other fire moves the guy tests.
Well, you can E-mail GameFreak and ask...Though I'd doubt they'd take kindly to people hacking thier games. Perhaps since Shednija is weak to the move Game Freak forgot to program Fire Fang not to hit Wonderguard? Anime style Battling? Some rediculous back-story that GameFreak forgot to mention? To annoy us? I'd go with the last.
Toxic will work anyway, this (was) the only way to kill it, WonderEye got recover, so burn won't effect him so much.
Wondereye got rest , so... No? A sure way to kill would be with something like Gastro Acid. The fire fang glitch will be implemented next gen, but is it on PBS or on RSE?
Fire Fang is a DPP move. Therefore, this is only a 4th Gen glitch. I don't know why it is there, but it's there. It happens in-game if you cheat to get a Wonder Guard Spiritomb, as was already mentioned. (this post was directed towards coyo)
I'd speculate that the reason fire fang is special is because it's the only fire move which has two secondary effects - one for burn and one for flinch. Perhaps something about checking twice for secondary effects is affecting the way wonder guard works?
Thunder Fang and Ice Fang also have that. Maybe it's just a mistake on the internal number of the move, which they allowed to go through wonder guard (like struggle/foresight) otherwise it's something so cryptic i can't answer it.
its offical, even coyottes stumped, the internet gives up :( seriously, someone ask nintendo? And btw, Tri attack has 3
It's some sort of error in games' coding. Judging by things like Acid Rain and ditto breeding glitch, Gamefreak's bug testers aren't perfect at doing their job. Chance of average player randomly running into this glitch is very, very low though, so Gamefreak likely never bothered fixing that. There's no real way for us to know exacly what causes Fire Fang to act like that since we obviously can't look that up in source of the game itself.
it did not take 4 gens for us to find that out. Want me to number the glitches from gen 1 up till now? my post would be pretty massive.
This doesn't seem like a glitch. Fire Fang specifically bypassing Wonder Guard ( in the case the target is not weak to it ) seems intentional. If it was purely based upon typing, this would not occur. Fire Fang's move data for some reason contains a bypass. You'd have to ask Junichi Masuda what the reasoning behind it is.
I'm confused so please feel free to say shut up if I'm lost beyond help. Wonder Guard, Shedinja's ability? I thought it was so that only super effective moves could hit it, which being the case, any fire-type move can hit Shedinja.
Send a Ralts with Trace in front of Shedinja, and Ralts will have wonder guard. And Fire Fang will still work against Ralts.
We know nintendo screwed up - actually, we know nintendo screwed up many times. we're trying to figure out why this screwup works.
Well it's probably a glitch because well GF could easily bypass fire fang as a move that would by pass wonderguard, also because fire fang is a 4th move maybe they added firefang when they were near the final stages of the game and never made it so that it would not hit with pokemon with wonder guard.
^ Yeah I think it's that. They must have said like all fire moves go past wonderguard and they accidently did something to firefang to make it always go past wonderguard even if it isn't super effective. Or they did it on purpose to make people curious and hope other people start turning to vampires.
That's not how Wonder Guard determines it. For some reason, that move alone specifically has a bypass. Fire Fang, not all fire moves. This was either left to test something by the programmers or intentional.
Maybe it's because Flareon can learn it, so it can be the ultimate WonderTomb counter. Now WonderTombs needs to consider EQ on their sets.
the point is that wondertomb isn't legal. why would gamefreak program fire fang to work or not to work?
What I think is that the people that run Pokemon have realized people hack it, and they have ways to make their pokemon virtually invincible through the means of hacking. Thus, they created "bad eggs," as what people believe to be the game's firewall to hackers. Now, the people at nintendo may have seen hacking wonder guard to things coming, and they wanted a move that most people wouldn't use that would actually face a wondertomb and not care. Because of that, they naturally chose fire fang. Thats only my guess, though. No one can really be sure until someone goes and works at nintendo or asks them.
