With the growing number of extra aesthetic (or at least not absolutely required to be able to battle) features, something to consider would be making a version with a much smaller filesize which would probably be more helpful to some users (especially those who may try running it on older computers or smartphones, or those who want to download with a very slow internet connection). PO-lite would not include sounds, music, non-competitive info (stuff that goes in the Pokedex), probably would not include the hover over move descriptions, no trainer sprites, possibly the old more simple teambuilder (not sure about this), and without various extra images (keeping the basic sprites, but possibly even going as far as removing shiny/gender specific sprites). Basically a stripped down client that performs all the essential functions, but not much else.

It's not something I would suggest doing in the near future, but when the feature list and internal design of standard PO settles it's something that's worth thinking about. I think it could be helpful to users who want to run the basics of the sim (battle, build teams, talk), without all the extra features for whatever reason.

I think this is a great idea. But it's not worth doing until a stable version is released, else both PO and PO-Lite will have to be constantly updated.

Indeed, it's not something I think would be a good idea to do soon. Just something to think about for the future.
