I'm still waiting for a Tournament to give Triples some love! Considering that there's pseudo-CC tourneys and other gimmicky type of tourneys, I find it hard to believe that there's no space for any sort of Doubles/VGC/Triples forum tourney.
I'd support it as well, I mean now we actually do have some decent players (we can advertise a bit and they'll join) and we can always hax like champions !
i think it would be good to either have a all male pokemon tournament or a all female pokemon tournament
I'm just saying, for all the people who are in Tohjo, almost non of the good players will sign up '-'
Same will happen with Tournaments only lesser numbers, although I doubt much people from Tohjo will sign up, we can apply a 16 players limit from tohjo and same with Tours.
I support the indigo vs Tours idea and here's two more Integrate LC and CC into the next world cup. LC because the little guys need love and CC to test improvisation A twist on monotype where each pokemon can share a type with only 1 other of your pokemon. an example team would be Mschamp(fight), lucario(fight/steel), bisharp(steel/dark), Tyranitar(dark/rock), Rhyperior(rock/ground), and dugtrio(ground). alternatively you could have nidoking(ground/poison) and toxicroak(poison/fight) in stead of dugtrio and machamp. but you should get the idea. However, you can only have up to two monotypes as three would cause a break in the chain.
I have a few ideas: What about a starters only tour. You could use 6 starters from any gen you would like (hacked games not included). And I'm not sure what to call this one but the teams would be modeled after in-game teams, for example someone could choose Steven Stone's Meteor Falls team in Emerald. The team would HAVE to include Skarmory, Cradily, Metagross, Claydol, Aggron, and Armaldo. Or someone could use Cynthia's DP Elite Four team and include Roserade, Garchomp, Spiritomb, Lucario, Gastrodon, and Milotic. Moves and items however can vary. Pokemon restrictions would depend on what mods feel should be banned, and the teams can only be modeled on complete teams of 6. So Drayden's team would be unavailable because it only consists of 3 pokemon. And what about a tour in which the types of the pokemon are predetermined. Like this Pokemon 1: Dark Pokemon 2: Fire Pokemon 3: Normal Pokemon 4: Bug Pokemon 5: Ghost Pokemon 6: Psychic All teams must include these 6 types and all dual types are allowed. The banlist is the Ubers tier.
here's a tournament that i'm more than willing to host. i just want to see how it is accepted by the community before sending it to get approved Spoiler Community tourney challenge I. Introduction This idea was taken by combining elements of Battle of the week with the Smogon Grand Slam tour (http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3466594found here). In short before the signs up start the community (That's You :D) will be voting on three well rounded tiers that present a variety of play style. These will not be restricted to standard tiers nor even 5th generation. in fact, we can do as many as seven tier, but they'll be for you to decide right now or IFM to decide before the posts go up to start it. i would like to stress the point that this requires community involvement. else, it will seem stale and lack luster. after the tiers are decided there will be "mini" tournaments starting up after every month. II. Format The format of the mini tournaments will be as thus: There will be a sign up thread accepting the first 96 or any other multiple of 32 depending on how fast sign ups go.do not be discouraged if you are not selected to play that tournament, you can still do the overall thing in short i'm going to try and include everyone that signs up. we will then proceed to do swiss rounds every two weeks (to ensure everybody gets an equal oppurtunity to win matches). when only one person has a perfect record that phase will be over. to ensure fast movement of the tournament the mini tourneys will be started every month or two. The overarching tour: Every match time will be agreed upon by the two players Each tournament will provide a point system giving each participant points equal to their wins. (it will be finalized before hand and curved ex. 1win = 1 point, 2=3, 3=5, 4=8, 5=12 etc...) after all the standard rounds have been completed there will be a seeded single elimination tournament between the top 32 players. each round will last two weeks again this round. the matches for quarter ,semis, and finals will have the times the two players agreed on posted so people can set aside time to watch live if they so desire. The 32 finalist will then do a vote for which tiers they want to do in the finals. they will each get three votes to vote on any tier after a three day discussion. the top voted will be the finals, 2nd will be the semis, 3rd = quarters, 4th will be second round and the fifth most voted will be the first round played. this is to discourage mass coalitions agreeing to vote on one tier to get passed the first round. III. General Tournament Rules All matches should take place in the Pokemon Online Server Scouting is profoundly discouraged Saving of logs is not required but still encouraged. Unless required by the tournament host. My decision should be abided ( and mine :D) A match result can only be counted if both players agreed on playing for this tournament Get your match done on time; activity is a requirement (no joke it's going to be long) You must have a Pokemon Online Forum account to sign-up for a Pokemon Online tournament. You are allowed to play in any tournament that is readily available. IV. (May change) Battling Rules Sleep Clause ON/OFF Evasion Clause ON/OFF Freeze Clause ON/OFF Species Clause ON/OFF OHKO Clause ON/OFF Self-KO Clause ON/OFF Ubers Clause ON/OFF Time ON/OFF Soul Dew Clause ON/OFF Level Balance ON/OFF Strict Damage Clause ON/OFF Extended Game ON/OFF Little Cup ON/OFF Random Battle ON/OFF Item Clause ON/OFF All clauses will be decided upon by the Community when we decide tiers. again this is going to be community directed V.Prizes The ultimate prize: bragging rights, plus an emblem of sorts if IFM gives it one VI. Participants again i'm trying for 96 each "mini" tour selected to bring the top 32 total into the finals. again it can be more or less depending on poularity please leave your thoughts on the subject and if you'd join or not. what the number of initial tiers should be and what not thank you
idk what indigo vs tours is but it sounds fun. + i like chilling in tournaments (if thats the same as tours idgf i think they're merging so now its the same) so it'd be cool.
imo you could even expand indigo vs into a multi channel tournament. tohjo, mafia, tours, and trivia are active enough and have enough decent players to make full teams out of or something
idk that just seems like it would be another Champions League in my opinion. Not to mention that would take AGES
Nah I think it'd be very doable, it'd require some organization, I was thinking about a format earlier
well in that case why not? wasn't there a multi site tour a couple years ago, that incorperated 8 competitive Pokemon sites? I personally think that that idea is fully doable. after all it's the same concept for but one site
yeah I think we should do it. that is like the perfect tour right now since team tours are the best and the most fun. Now... Should i support Tour, Trivia, Mafia or some other thing... Well the teams could be: 1.)Tohjo 2.)Tour(nament)s 3.)Indigo 4.)Mafia 5.)Trivia 6.)no idea
Okay so we have 5 teams right now. Do we get a 6th together or run with 5? I have a theory of how this could work both ways, so let me put it out. 5 teams: the teams are put in a star pattern round robin tournament like so: team 1 battles team 3, 3 battles team 5, 5 battles team 2, 2 battles team 4, and 4 battle team 1. The teams do this over lets say, a month period. At the end the four best teams will duke it out in a single elimination tournament to determine the winner. the matches will be seeded, so the best will play number 4 in the first round. 6 teams: we split the teams into two groups at random who will then do a round robin tournament. out of each group the two best will emerge and do a single elimination tournament as described above. The best from group A will battle the 2nd from group B and vice versa. Recruiting: both ways we will select a leader for each team via sign up threads. the leaders will be given a list of players who signed up to pick their team from. We probably should also make a co-leader from a different timezone in order to spread the player base for that team. thoughts?
wouldn't it be the responsibility of the members of that channel to make sure the people they wanted to join signed up?
I totally support the multi channel tour thing, but i do have a question... Wo decides who is allowed in the team/picks the team leader?
The problem with running another team tournament right now is that the second edition of the Pokemon Online Champions League starts mid September so we would need to complete tje one being discussed before then.
How about this for an idea? Random Generated Numbers team. Kind of like Luck of the Draw OU challenge IFM made a few months ago.
I was thinking up a tournament recently. Essentially, it's standard OU, with dual-type pokemon banned. This tier would make stalling strategies much less plausible and make walls more reliant on defensive stats than resistances. Banlist (only ubers that would qualify): Arceus, Deoxys, Deoxys-A, Deoxys-S, Groudon, Kyogre, Manaphy, Mewtwo. Suspects: Hippowdon, Ninetales, Politoed, Wobbuffet. Spoiler 3 weather inducers have a variety of abusers and would make it extremely tough for non-weather teams to check. Politoed in particular has Tornadus and several Swift Swim users. Ninetales gets pure Fires such as Darmanitan, and Chlorophyll users such as Lilligant. While not OU, these pokemon could easily be too much with the right offensive movepool. Hippowdon only gets Sandslash and Stoutland(from memory), so is less broken. Correct me if wrong. Verdict: Ban Politoed and Ninetales/Vulpix. We all know the case for Wobbuffet, I think no ban.[/HIDE] Eligible pokemon (Excluding most NFE's): Spoiler Gen I Blastoise, Raticate, Arbok, Pikachu, Raichu, Sandslash, Clefable, Ninetales, Wigglytuff, Dugtrio, Persian, Golduck, Primeape, Arcanine, Alakazam, Machamp, Rapidash, Muk, Hypno, Kingler, Electrode, Marowak, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Lickitung, Weezing, Chansey, Tangela, Kangaskhan, Seadra, Seaking, Mr. Mime, Pinsir, Tauros, Ditto, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Snorlax, Mew. [/HIDE] Finally, a brief word on Darmanitan, Zen Mode would be banned due to activating a Dual typed pokemon. Message/Comment with ideas.
We can try keeping only a maximum of 32 people in the multi-channel tour, that way it could end sooner.
