I always enjoy seeing you doing awesome calculations, even for metagames that I don't really play ^_^ that's all it is. It feels like when we do stuff like that we have more information to use in the game and it becomes a very tiny step closer to being 'solved', like my calculations on a few lead matchups' probabilities [gar vs jynx, gar vs egg, zam vs jynx, zam vs egg]

I did the Gar vs. X calculations ages back. You could have just asked me for those. :P

... are all mine, if you prefer I can get the equivalent threads on Pokemon Perfect (they might have less stuff on them tho, idr if I added the gar vs egg calcs or made some changes to the accuracy of it on there)

Hmm, it seems I actually made a mistake in my Gengar vs. Jynx calculations. I didn't notice that you get a chance to see whether Jynx wakes up on the turn Gengar sleeps it but not vice versa, so I thought it was just 60:30 or 2/3.

The other ones I did were Zam vs. Gar and Mie vs. Gar, and I'm pretty sure I got those right. Of course, I don't think I actually wrote them down, so I'd have to do them again to quote them.

Hyper Beam Starmie vs. Jynx is an interesting one that I never got around to doing. Not just in terms of "win/loss" but in how much Jynx pays for that win.

I wish the damage calculators had a feature for "what % 3HKO after Leftovers over 3/4/5/... turns with misses/turns spent doing something else in-between)" as opposed to always assuming consecutive hits. Because a good chunk of the interesting calcs (I'd say at least 30%) in GSC are exactly those sort. Including the sort I need to do Thunder/RestTalk Zapdos vs. CurseRestTalk Hera accurately. :(

indeed, or in RBY having to work out the actual change to 2HKO or 3HKO something when you factor crits/drops @_@ I'm glad I didn't have to worry about that too much in these cases.

2HKO is a little tedious (you have to do the "what roll do I need" calc 39 times) but eminently doable by someone like me who actually likes doing maths.

3HKOs are the real horror, because you have to do that "what roll do I need" calc 1521 times instead. You really need a utility for that, and I'm no programmer.

yeah it depends on the sort of move and how close it is.. like if it's a 98% chance for a 2HKO or something then it's not so stressful to work out exact numbers. Dunno if the courses I'm gonna take next year will feature too heavily on the technological capacity to work with probability and stuff but I don't really know. Intend on taking quite some probability stuff, and discrete mathematics.

Lil bit of algebraic spaces etc too cos it's pretty fun. Maybe logic too, lol. :> it's nice being able to really dig deep in these games though, the more information the better.
